All That Money

  • Chicago Public Schools staff set up tables with free lunches at 100 locations across the city for the first day of the LunchStop program this year.

The lunches are served outdoors to make it easier for kids to grab a meal and are meant for all Chicago children under 18 — not just CPS students. The program aims to make healthy meals more accessible to students and the community even when school isn’t in session by bringing lunches to spaces that are familiar to children.
Government taking the roll of parent once again. Now how about Workhouses and Sweatshops so the taxpayers can see some return on their investment?

Free lunches for all is a joke! Why are the teachers paying, in comparison to us, so little into their retirement but they get all this FREE money to spend. I’m under no illusion that the CPD doesn’t waste money mind you. The CTU is a modern day mob! Hate to say it but it’s true.

Hey why not? The Dem. candidates are offering free college, forgiving college loans, reparations to blacks, reparations to gays, reparations to drug dealers ( not making that up it's true), sanctuary cities, open borders, free education, housing, healthcare to illegal aliens, and the list goes on! Today Bill de Blasio said everyone show get two weeks paid vacation. Who will be the first to offer a: BRANNN NEWWW CARRRR!!? Oh don't forget WE are paying for all this so these asshole Democrats can get elected and give away the country.

I am glad the schools are feeding kids. If the parents cannot or will not care for the kids, or families can't or won't, then I'm glad someone does, so the kids don't suffer and go without food. It's not ideal, but it's the world we live in.

This is not something new. This summer lunch program has been in existence for many years - at least 20 that I know of. The luches are also provided to some day camps or church programs that have summer programs for children so that they can have a lunch. Unfortunately, this is the only meal of the day that some kids get. I'm for working for things too. But I'm okay with giving a starving kid a lunch if their family can't or won't.

I witnessed one of these food giveaways last year. The kids were playing in a playground and came over as soon as the table was set up. The kids were respectful and the CPS employee was friendly and seemed to know them.

The kids went to a bench and ate. They shared their preferred foods with each other. One of the kids traded for an apple because "his mama likes apples" .

I know all these programs aren't all like this example but this one was not bad at all.

Welcome to the nanny state, where the democrats assume minority folks are INCAPABLE of managing their own affairs, of raising their own children, that the Government's role is to regulate, administer, monitor, and provide basic parental functions. Never any assumption that a parent's DUTY is to feed, clothe, educate, and supervise their children, that a parent is ACCOUNTABLE for their child's upbringing, behavior, and social-progress. Nope. Entire legions of democrats campaign and govern on basis that "Government" needs to do this.

And all this "Government intervention" does is perpetuate a nanny-state of childlike-adults who take no responsibility for their actions and non-actions. You can't get a well=paying job (except with City of Chicago or Cook County) if you read at 3rd-grade level, if you can't dress yourself in appropriate business attire (no gangbanger outfits), can't comport yourself in the King's English language with grammar and syntax appropriate to business environment (again, except if employed by City or County).

Case in point, go to airport, go to international terminal, and see all the Aviation employees "hanging out" on their phones, ignoring exhausted air=flight patrons debarking at the gates, except to bark "instructions" at them, to load them like livestock on to those dirty buses (no light-rail service for past year), acting "Ghetto" all the time. Trib's written two articles regarding deplorable inter-terminal conditions at O'Hare, without noting obvious problems with City's own terminal-operations staff.

Nope, instead new Lightfoot administration hires another high-paid administrator for a newly created departmental leadership role: "Deputy Mayor of Public Safety, Susan Lee". Coming from another SJW think tank "Safe Chicago Network at Chicago CRED", she'll spend more taxpayer money to further the nanny-state. Never any discussion of personal accountability, nope. Never any discussion of parental responsibility for their adolescent children's bad behavior and petty criminal activity, nope. Just more free summer-time CPS lunches, more free cell-phones, more welfare benefits, more aid to undocumented immigrants, more ineffective government interventions (at great taxpayer cost), to "mitigate lack of opportunity". It's double-speak denial of truth - these gangbangers aren't interested in accomplishing what it takes to fit into civil society,

For all the money being spent on summer programs, free lunches, increased policing levels and whatever else, we might as well just institute year round school for the little darlings. Teachers could work 2 semesters and then be relieved with new teachers so they can’t claim they are being overworked. Rotate in and out. CPS and CTU have long held a stranglehold on the city finances with poor returns for money spent. Maybe this sounds crazy, but at least these kids would not be running the streets and terrorizing the public for 3 months of the year.

Meanwhile?

Lightfoot still blames The Police for Dude Inc.'s
continued public and out loud display of their love of
and sensual pleasure in chaos, death, destruction, discord,
willful ignorance, joyous hatred of all decent things, insane
jealousy of those who have decent things because they WORKED for
them and anger/resentment because those who work/worked aren't
too keen on continuing to "share" with those who refuse to...

Heh...

Lightfoot is of course, all ears to the "community stakeholders"
who would love nothing more than seeing the hands of The Police
cinched ever tighter behind their backs...

"Because The Police aren't engaged enough
with the community."

But nobody has shit to say about why "the community"
has failed to positively engage with upright, law-abiding,
order and peace-loving society?

"The Community" very loudly R E J E C T S
such positive engagement on their part.

But loudly demands that society owes them a "duty to care."

Can any community member be troubled to publicly put forth
any cogent, linear and ordered discourse in this regard?

>Tick-Tock...<

>Ambient Sound<

>Airybody standin' around with their hands
in their pockets and their eyes cast upward

"That's RACIST!"

They DO despise a question so crafted as to not
leave room for their diversionary "Straw Man"
to run around howling while his hair is on fire
and his hind parts are starting to combust.

>WHOOOMPH!<
"YAAAAAHHH!"

Reasoned and dispassionate discourse where everyone
involved is actually adult enough to stay on topic,
gives Progressives and the perpetually outraged the
the tummy rumbles and hershey squirts because they
cannot abide being unable to control and skew the
narration.

"So why are you cops so..."
(Or some similar such)

>Look of benign but studied dismissal
(Look through a silly m/fer...)
and continued forward motion<

Silly m/fer now actually feels silly
for asking such but tries to play
their bogus societal pecking order card.

"Gasp! He IGNORED ME?!"

As a CPS teacher, let me first say how much I appreciate the sacrifice and dedication of the CPD. I hate seeing so much negativity written here from officers towards teachers, because many (like me) are grateful for what you do in our schools.
As far as the comments about our pension contribution, it was given to us in lieu of a raise. It allowed CPS to keep $$$ in its system and benefitted teachers in the long run. It was something our union negotiated-- I wish the FOP would follow our lead for you guys. Secondly, I see the same scumbags that many of you deal with, but not all these kids are bad. Some need guidance and are receptive to love from anyone, because they have so much negativity in the streets and at home.

In other words, if we can reach them BEFORE you have to deal with them, we all win. Hungry mouths have no ears... please remember that. I know many of you hate the labels given to you by armchair citizens who know how to do your job better than you-- trust me, I live in that world too. Just remember, we are not enemies. I would estimate 75% of teachers love the CPD-- and the in-fighting in CTU should prove my point. Many of us are hard-working people who have a few bad apples that stick out and they seem to represent us in the media...does that sound familiar????

If, as some people are saying, that the money for this program isn't coming out of the CPS budget, but rather from private donations, then why isn't the program being run out of the CPD CAPS offices? You want to create better trust between the "community" and the police? Then let the police be the good guys for once. I don't have a problem feeding any hungry kid, and we have plenty of "house mice" in CAPS that can hand out sandwiches for three hours a day. Maybe it will introduce a whole generation of kids to the fact that the police are actually the best thing that happens in their neighborhoods.
