Groot's Command Staff - Part IIIa
Seems there's a second side to the story:
- This is one instance where I’ll have to go to bat for the boss as only half the story made it to SCC. The rest of the story goes lie this:
- PO in question gets dumped from his team
- PO has the audacity to aggressively approach the Deputy in his office, raising his voice while getting within inches of the boss, demanding to know why he was dumped
- PO told he was out of line and vacate office but persisted berating the Deputy, still within inches of him
- Deputy now wonders if he’s about to be battered and tells PO he’s about to get written up for insubordination it he persists
- PO is still animated so deputy tells him to leave and in no uncertain terms tells him he’s “about to get knocked the fuck out” if he doesn’t back out of Deputy’s personal space
-PO was the one to drop the “whatcha gonna do Boy”, NOT the Deputy
Disclaimer: I don’t work for the Deputy or even in 005, was there on unrelated matter and had the misfortune of witnessing this while returning from the back bathroom. PO was 100% in the wrong. I was asked by 005 supervisors for my info (kinda HAVE to provide that when asked) so discipline can be started. They wanted a to from at that moment but I was on something else so they’ve reached out to me to put my observations on paper. PO is gonna get it jammed deep, but he was the aggressor for the get go and i’m surprised the deputy let it go as far as he did without knocking this dude’s teeth down the back of his throat. PO was WAYYYY out of line and honestly deserves to be made an example of.
In this case, here's hoping that the Department makes a pointed example of the officer. This is probably going to end up a "who's clout is bigger" competition. After all, if it's heavy enough, you can shoot mentally challenged teens or cheat on promotional exams and nothing happens.
Anyone have the seniority on the PO? Is this part of Rahm's lowered standards showing up finally?

This is from the transcript of a recent CNN interview with former CIA Director Leon Panetta.
Insert "CPD" in each instance of "CIA", change the mission to "serve and protect", change "president" to "mayor", and "Jusitce Department" to COPA".
How is it we're any different?
PANETTA: Well, I understand the feelings at the CIA. Because the people who work at the CIA are not Democrats or Republicans. They're good Americans, who try to do their job, developing the right intelligence to be able to make sure that our country can be able to protect itself.
For them to do their job requires that they take risks. And they have to put their lives on the line often to be able to get that kind of information.
So when the president and the Justice Department say, well, wait a minute, we'll now investigate whether the CIA did the right thing, there's no question that it impacts on the morale of the CIA. Because the very government they're part of and trying to help is now turning on them and questioning whether or not they did the right thing.
I'm sure that, ultimately, no matter who visits this issue, that they'll find that the CIA did exactly the right thing. But to go through this process -- make no mistake about it, when you go through this process, it clearly puts people on edge because their own government, the government they're dedicating their lives to, is now questioning the work they do.

Out this POS.
If verified, we should all know who he is in case he lands in our unit if assignment.
A heads up on who we might be working with would be nice.
They stripped him. He has time, 15 plus easily.
Not that I don’t believe the anonymous boss, but they should have signed their name to it, after ranting about anonymity.
CL
God damn. There lots of bosses on this job we hate and should still be pushing a beat car, but Jesus Christ, you can’t do that. You shouldn’t do that to another blue shirt let alone a deputy, you’re still at work, handle it in a somewhat professional manner no matter how much bullshit it is. You don’t need to respect the man (or woman) you respect the position being held. This is my problem with how childish and awful so many people are acting with president trump. You don’t need to respect him, but the position he holds demands a level of respect, even if you don’t think he deserves it. Not saying you have to be a bitch or take it laying down, you can get in a heated argument about it, but to get within inches of his face and scream, not cool.
If the described events are true then the PO needs to suffer the full weight of the discipline system. This is unacceptable behavior no matter who’s face he’s getting in. With that behavior no wonder he got dumped. Must be one of the new entitled class of POs. Enjoy your suspension.
I have never heard DC EH get loud with anyone. He barely talks to anyone.
Interesting that the side of the story that hasn’t seemed to have gotten much attention is that the po got dumped in retaliation as he had the audacity to call out the deputy and his hand puppet, FP, by filing a grievance when they were trying to screw young coppers and violate the contract. FP has had a bug up his ass about this po since he lost that grievance and had to abide by the collective bargaining agreement. That merit hack of a deputy is just a victim of his own stupidity for listening to FP. This isn’t the end of this story by a long shot. The question is how deep of a hole is FP and the fool EH willing to dig themselves into over a guy that was simply trying to ensure his coworkers didn’t get it stuck in their asses?
Usually the ones with the loudest mouth have the most clout. Look at Sgt RG from 010. Mother fucked the LT and Capt, nothing happened. Shortly after has a dead PO in his car, mother fucks the bosses on scene, nothing happens. Then causes another scene over yet another dead body, and FINALLY something happens because the media caught wind of it. What that something is nobody knows. Probably just hiding him somewhere so that people think he was punished.
I would bet my paycheck that all of those comments in support of Holt are coming directly from his office. Sgt FP is a petty vindictive little man who has done nothing but destroy the morale at 212 since his arrival. Anyone who is somewhat familiar with this situation knows that the P.O. in question was dumped for sticking up for the contractual rights of the officers in 212. This officer filed and won a grievance around furlough picks as Sgt FP decided he would dictate the manner in which furloughs would be picked contract be damned. Ironically, and most recently this officer was sticking up for his colleagues after the new Lt decided he would violate the contract in the manner that time due would be approved (or denied by simply ignoring the time due request) and the amount of manpower that is allowed off daily. I don't believe it would be unreasonable to approach your boss and simply ask why you were being dumped without him getting in your face and challenging you to "do something boy". Now these assclowns know they messed up and are going to great lengths to ruin a P.O.'s career because he had the audacity to stand up for his contractual rights. And the P.O. in question has over a decade on the job and a combat veteran. I'll take his word over any of these merit hacks.
Who fuck cares if you get dumped from a team? Poolece work don’t mean shit to CCSA office. Or it’s judges for that matter anymore. Have a coke and a smile and chill out dummy. You’re still a subordinate to a higher rank and it doesn’t warrant that type of behavior especially if it’s something as silly as getting dumped from a unit. If you haven’t figured out that this dept ultimately doesn’t give a rats ass about how much you work or don’t then you deserve the discipline comin’ to ya. Good grief man get a grip.
" This is probably going to end up a "who's clout is bigger" competition."
Hell of a way to Run a Railroad! .
Rather than measuring status and power by clout, how about using something simpler? We could base it on merit or appointments by superiors, and designate it using status cues like markings on their shirts and even the color of the shirt?
Naaah, An invisible and ever changing measurement like clout works so much better.
There’s always a 2nd side to a story. This is exactly what’s wrong with this Department. All of these self entitled little weasel millennials who consistently demand shit. This is a para-military organization you dumb fucks, you don’t get to question your superiors decisions nor are you entitled to explanations. Your detail is cancelled and that’s all you need to know.
I personally know this asshole who lives way up in the furthest northern part of 016. Saturation North did not want him so this stroke drives over 33 miles to A/S Sat and back another 33 miles home and from what I hear is late every single day because he cries that it takes him almost 1 hour and 45 minutes each way. Anyone who travels 2-3 hours a day on average is fucking stupid to begin with. Do you really expect us to believe you work a 10.5 hour tour and travel 3 hours a day with 8 hours a sleep and have 3 hours for yourself or family daily? Especially during the winter and shitty weather months?
You should thank the Deputy as your commute time will now be a lot shorter. Lol.
His partner from what I’m hearing wants nothing to do with it but is being pressured to BS for him. I hope he tells the truth and doesn’t get jammed up for this tool because a Rule 14 is serious shit.
They stripped him. He has time, 15 plus easily.
Fifteen years isn’t s**t!
Not that I don’t believe the anonymous boss, but they should have signed their name to it, after ranting about anonymity.
CL
Agreed!
RP
He said she said sounds like a domestic to me. Unless you were there you will never know the truth. The boss isn't always right but he is always the boss. But I do have to give points to a copper that wants to be kissed after he has been fucked instead of taking it in the ass like most do. As far as the "witness" goes he now is in line for his next merit bump.
If this asshole had clout why is he driving from 16 to Area South. I say Bullshit and he is a goof. As a Sergeant with years on the job, I had an incident when 2 district cops decided that since I was from a specialized unit that they didnt need to take my direction and basically told me to fuck off, boy were they sorry. I didnt do the paper route but handled it OLD SCHOOL WAY. They may still be feeling the aftermath.
Everyone at A/S Sat knows that both P.O’s got dumped because
they joined together to file grievances and get CR’s because they were not happy
with the changes the new LT E.S. made. LT E.S. was not going to have these two
P.O’s get their way and dumps them immediately. Is it the right way to handle this
situation? Not sure anymore on this job... as a P.O. I’ve become robotic due to the
fear of losing my spot. FOP sucks and nobody cares! The bosses can do whatever
they want and call it in the best interest of the department. It’s sad P.O’s have no
rights anymore, contract violations mean nothing and it’s sad it had to end this way!
“And the P.O. in question has over a decade on the job and a combat veteran. I'll take his word over any of these merit hacks.”
6/25/2019 12:51:00 AM
Oooooooohhhh, wow!!!! Over a decade on???? Still wet behind the ears.
And still obviously hasn’t learned shit about respecting the rank. You don’t have to respect the man wearing the stripes, bars, stars or leafs, but you’d BEST respect the RANK.
Obviously this “combat veteran” didn’t learn that in the military either, huh?
Just another example of too much entitlement on this job. I hope he gets whacked with at least 15 days for insubordination.
Fucking tool.
Can't you boys and girls in the South side get along? Don't make me come down there to separate you.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Oops... Upon Further Review, the previous call on the field is reversed: As such; My deepest apologies Deputy Chief EH.
This being the case, WTF's wrong with that PO? He has to have either Kryptonite Proof Clout or... he's got a couple screws loose. And who the f--k calls anyone 'Boy' today anyway? And then to call your Boss that? Even if 'protected' by clout, it's just goddamn wrong.
Not to mention that IMHO calling someone 'Boy' comes extremely close to crossing the line into 'Fighting Words' territory (For those playing along at home, that's Legal justification for throwing a punch in/under certain situations).
Last but not least, this PO has to be a real stroke to work with.
The PO’s seniority has nothing to do with this incident. He has around 12-13 years on the job. He was in the military, worked entire career in the ghetto, was in MSF and has at least one Master’s Degree that I’m aware of. That’s just a little background on him. He’s a guy who calls out idiots when they do something wrong or stands up for people when they’re being taken advantage of. He was more than likely dumped because he dared to file grievances when the brass and/or Lt. Spradley were violating the contract. It’s that simple. I wasn’t there but neither were some of these other individuals coming to DC Holt’s defense. Defend him all you want but he’s still carrying the kool aid for the upper echelon and that’s not in the best interest of the POs so don’t say how much he cares about POs. He does what suits his needs and then has Sgt. Paz do everything else. Holt is just another example of a wasted position that doesn’t need to exist. He’s in that position because he has been a loyal yes-man. Certainly not for his intelligence, innovative thinking or leadership skills.
He should get fired. These five year wonders on the job I have no clue about how being the real police is disrespect veteran officers think they know everything couldn’t find a gun in the gun shop can’t run a warrant can’t do basic police work
WTF has happened to this Department? You have a N/W side Commander that goes ballistic if you answer him the wrong way when he says "How you doin'?" and another exempt that sits there while a fuckin P/O tries to start a fight with him in his office over a bullshit dump and calls him "boy"? Got this Lemmer (remember him as a do nothing in 009) goof who seems to travel the city just figuring out new ways to fuck with people and make them miserable.
Been retired 5 years, and happy as fuck I am.
They are messing with unit 212. Especially now that there is a new LT. They are breaking the contract by making both watches compete with each other for days off (mind you they are only letting 4 people off per day BOTH WATCHES - ENTIRE UNIT! combined.) This P.O got dumped because he was asking questions. Thank you to the P.O for sticking up for the rest of us. I don't know much about FP to talk about him but I know ever since the new Deputy and L.T came the whole unit's morale has gone down the shitter.
People get dumped from the Tact team all the time. Is it really that big of a deal? There sure is a lot worse that can happen. Don't take it so personally. Sometimes it's just a new supervisor who wants to bring his own people in. I never understood the entitlement here. On the Tactical team, you serve at the whim of the supervisors you work for. It's also worth mentioning, that you can also leave tactical at anytime, by making the request. And CPD has to honor it. I remember a time when they couldn't get enough people on the "team" and were considering reverse seniority" as a measure. Don't get your underwear in a bunch over losing a spot on "the team". This is a perfect example of why. So, my advice is, fall back, regroup, and come up with a new plan.
IMHO, a beat car is a much better place than the Tact team to weather a storm. Just say'n...
I was just wondering what POS, Obama toddy Leon Panetta thinks of this.
I was not there but I’ve seen and been on the receiving end of some lying Bosses and POs that back their story up. SGT F from the 008th district that’s why karma came around for his ass!
I dont care who you are or where you work, insubordination beefs never end well for the accused. You WILL take time.
Ok when ur in a non bid spot you play the game or you may end up back in the district. If this guy was to dum to know that that's his problem.
Those of you saying “he can’t do that” and “he should get what he deserves” are the problem. We constantly get walked on by these know-nothing “bosses” who have been handed their whole careers simply because of who they know. They laugh at you behind your backs at the club or “fraternity” meeting. Somebody finally tells one of them to f-off and explain themselves and you guys jump on him. **MERIT IS THE PROBLEM***
.
All involved should be sent for a psychiatric evaluation.
Sgt FP still not liked or respected
Anyone who really knows FP understands how much of an a**hole he really is.
I’m glad we are all in agreement Sgt FP is completely useless. That is one thing that has been confirmed through both sides of this story.
The deputy thought he was going to get battered ??? 😂 I thought Holt was a street guy who could handle himself !!! Listen P.O. was wrong but so was holt ...you want to dump people call them in your office or on the phone and dump them . Don’t wait for them to go on the medical or call their Sgt who is on vacation..... .
I don’t believe this for a second. FP and EH are trying to ruin this PO career.
SCC, the original comment mentions the PO in question is young, yet he has well over a decade on the job. I have a hard time believing anyone would confuse the PO for an entitled millennial.
I would bet my paycheck that all of those comments in support of Holt are coming directly from his office. ^^ THIS.

-PO was the one to drop the “whatcha gonna do Boy”, NOT the Deputy
Sounds like he just wanted to get his bike back...
I work in 212 and worked with the po. Stand up guy and got dumped because or new merit lt decided to violate the contract with our requesting days off. And he wanted an answer and the Douglas wouldnt open the door and when he finally did he was half asleep and said " you want something boy".

If true why isn’t FOP on top of this and protecting him from retaliation? No sense to report a violation of the contract to FOP if they won’t protect your rights and protect you against retaliation
ok everyone. Being dumped will always happen in this dept. sometimes u did nothing wrong other then having little if any clout. Been happening for ever. REMEMBER, ONE DAY U ARE THE SHOE, THE NEXT UR THE ROACH UNDER THE SHOE. When ever u come to a unit uve had to replace someone. So grow up . Life is not fair. U may not like the person, but respect the rank. SAy ur peace then move on. Better then having money taken out of ur pocket.
Age old is the “where’s mine” or how about me-me-me.
Plenty of hard chargers left to fill the spots left by self-absorbed dumped hard-headed hard chargers that can’t keep their traps shut.
And earning that froggy, jump on it reputation early is everlasting.
Whether one is right contractually doesn’t give that person the right to scream, yell and invade anyone’s personal space. This should be adhered to whether it is a fellow blue shirt all the way up to the mayor, who I do not care for. There are mechanisms in place to grieve in lieu of getting one’s self jammed up.
If he asks for a pardon close of business today, there's a spot available on EVT.

Well, if they were retaliated against for using their contractual rights and filing a grievance, then they may have something bigger. If they were just asking questions, then there’s no record of anything and the bosses will make up another reason for dumping him.

Probably because you sounded like a tool to them like you do here.
If this guy is such a great guy im sure everyone has stopped all activity until he is brought back. Oh wait that's right everyone is scared now and bring bringing in all kind of activity to show the new lt what great guys they are.
Those of you sticking up for Holt need your heads checked. Seriously, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Obviously this P.O. is being retaliated against for calling out bosses who have NEVER PASSED A TEST. This administration is atrocious and embarrassing. Thanks Eddie. By the way Supt, you’re over the age of 12, how about losing the “ie” in your name and just go by Ed.

I am certain that the sycophants of Holt and Paz are behind the defaming of the P.O. I actually thought that since he was willing to file grievances for contract violations that it would have made him untouchable. However the straw that broke the camels back was when he dare questioned the policy of 4 officers off per day unit wide. By the way they have dumped 3 supervisors and 2 supervisors have left since the Holt regime started. Now they are in smear campaign mode against a P.O.
Unit 212: Ernest goes to SAT
One: Holt did pass the test and two: whether you like it or not, you forfeit rights when you go to units.
New bosses new changes oh well try getting dumped out a really good unit---my guy a Sgt. there said the changes are not really that bad. If you are smart and have whack you dont do that to a boss or any PO. You embarrass yourself, your family and your phone call.
What happened to the times when bosses got promoted
came in and observed and decided If it ain’t broke don’t fix it ?
Many blame the DC EH some blame Sgt FP for dumping the
Officers...what about the merit Lieutenant ES
who has gotten two bites of the apple?
He’s seems to be the biggest problem in 212. He’s the one
who came in on his 1st day and threatened everyone at the
Unit. Scare tactics don’t work if you want productivity. The officers
that got dumped were trying to do some good by pointing out
the wrongs of LT ES. Contract violations are serious.
Filing grievances is the process and he dumps them quickly.
A good old saying goes like this: You get more bee’s with honey.
It’s that simple mr LT
Your rule of only 4 people off for the entire Unit is the most
despicable rule ever in a Unit. You practically killed the hopes
of good Unit. You must not have a life or family.
If that’s the case, a quick solution would be to adopt a cat or two.
Instead of coming into the unit as a dictator, you should’ve came
in as a motivator, encourager a boss that’s approachable one who builds
people up and not tear them down. I know this is a waste of time but if you’re reading
this it shows you care a bit and it’s not too late to change your ways.
It’s a great feeling to be called a LEADER and very rewarding!!
Don’t burn the Unit down, LT MT wasn’t liked very much but he had
great numbers and cared about everyone under him.
I’m disgusted with the way things turned out over at Unit 212!!
I may be gone but I still care about the folks over there!! Keep your heads up guys!!
This is completely fucked up! People are already talking about leaving the Unit
and not to come over. I’ve been waiting patiently for the NOJO to come out and submit my app.
I guess I’ll wait to see if things get better after the smoke clears. Or new Bosses come in

If true, maybe it’s the way he approached it. I know a guy that used to butt heads with supervisors left and right, and filed over 300 grievances, most for the acting Desk Sgt situation, but some for work conditions, even calling an evidence technician to take pictures of his face when part of the drop ceiling fell on his head. This dude was a thorn in many a.supervisors side, yet he kept them on their heels because at the end of the day they realized he was smarter than most of them and was a motherfucker with documenting things. He taught many of the youngins in 011 a lot of valuable lessons and This gentleman went on to see two promotions. Moral of the story? There’s a way to do things & plenty of ways to not do things. Sounds like this hand job wrote a check his mouth couldn’t cash. Move on, kid. Before you really wind up getting hurt.
I've been in a unit before and if it is that messed up like I'm hearing why is it that they are staying. I had a guy from 189 tell me for 7 years that he cannot stand the unit but he never left and he is still there.

He does what suits his needs and then has Sgt. Paz do everything else. Holt is just another example of a wasted position that doesn’t need to exist. He’s in that position because he has been a loyal yes-man. Certainly not for his intelligence, innovative thinking or leadership skills.

Paz was a handjob in 003 when he had some mickey mouse mission team.I see little has changed.

I don't know who is right in this case. I will say, however, this makes me second guess taking the next Sgt exam. Is it worth the headaches?
212 barely classifies as a unit. I’d rather push a beat and cut paper than chase numbers for those clowns.

They had a secret office in 003 and never did shit, but made big OT. Paz always thought he was the smartest guy in the room.

Hahahahaha. Good ol GP. I remember when he bid to the desk just to piss off Captain TH. He was like “ The dude hates the very sight of me, now he’s going to have to look at me all day every day”. He was indeed smarter than all those supervisors that he worked under. At the end of the day he knew they couldn’t fuck with him because he had dirt on all of them. Rumor has it that he had a couple of them on video elsewhere when copies of the A&As he had showed them at work. Last of a generation of solid guys that were a wealth of information. Too bad he wasn’t an FTO, the kids coming on the job today would be well served.

New bosses new changes oh well try getting dumped out a really good unit---my guy a Sgt. there said the changes are not really that bad. If you are smart and have whack you dont do that to a boss or any PO. You embarrass yourself, your family and your phone call.

I hate to break it to you but none of the area Sat teams ask for a phone call. They literally beg anyone with a pulse to come over.Every few months they ask for applicants that tells you something it's not a real unit.Just like tac nobody applies and they take 3 year wonders.
