- Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s choice to be the city’s deputy mayor of public safety is Susan Lee, a senior director at an anti-violence nonprofit who says reducing violence is her mission.
Lee, 51, is the senior director of Safe Chicago Network at Chicago CRED (Creating Real Economic Destiny), a nonprofit where former Obama administration education secretary and Chicago Public Schools chief Arne Duncan is managing partner.
Lee has worked on anti-violence issues across the country, including in Los Angeles, and said her first priority in the new role “is to establish a basic level of safety in all communities in Chicago.”
Once again, the connected profit at the expense of taxpayer to the tune of $165,000.

In the 1980s they created the position of the Chicago Public Safety Commissioner for Sam Nolan who was the acting Police Superintendent after O'Grady. The job was suppose to oversee and supervise the police and fire departments. Does this job still exist?

Arne Duncan was a failure here running the schools just as he was in DC running the Dept of Ed. His real claim to fame was he played b-ball with Obama. Duncan is an empty suit with no accomplishments unless a 60% graduation rate is something to be proud of.
Basic level of safety? LOL. That assumes that the prosecutors in the justice office actually engage in a basic level of prosecution. And that's not happening... Might as well flush the $165K down the toilet

Police found a black Range Rover parked on Lower Michigan Avenue not long after the hit and run. They are calling that car a "vehicle of interest." Police have not confirmed if it was stolen and then abandoned.

It’s just a change in title to make the position seem more important. It used to be Deputy Chief of Staff for Public Safety. Walter Katz had the spot most recently.
Two more things - the Sam Nolan job was created for him as an appeasement to the whites because the political environment wanted no part of a black superintendent at the time, a job he should have had.
And second, Jane Byrne is thought of - usually by people who weren’t around back then - as a great friend to the police. While she didn’t suffer from the SJW affliction that the current mayor does, she was not our buddy. Advances in pay, working conditions and eventually collective bargaining, came because they were already on the way and she hated the firefighters and wanted to stick their demands in their asses by seemingly giving the police stuff first.

This is not a new position. There has been in past administrations a deputy or some sort of top administrator who was the shadow police superintendent and the city hall connect to the policies of the CPD. Lori is going to take a very hands on approach to the CPD. Lori is different. As they say "you ain't seen nothing yet."

Sheehan’s job is to be sure infrastructure is metered out equitably. Code means more programs to placate the people and folks. Surprisingly Daley and Rahm both gave Lori patronage jobs. Is this a payback? Looks like it. I surly don’t have the educational credentials of most of the people being paid the big bucks to solve our crime problems, but I had an elementary aged person give me this idea. Criminals commit crimes. Less criminals less crimes. Makes sense. Then the argument comes up that locking them up does not solve the root of the problem. That’s were the thinking goes wrong. By locking them up you get a chance to get into the now save communities and work on that problem. The criminals running free will never let you get into the communities. Hasn’t this been oblivious.

Reputable law enforcement agencies across America are begging to hire good people, especially with experience. Don’t be afraid to spread your wings and fly away. They might not pay as much but your cost of living could be a fraction of what it is now. There’s some areas that you can wear short sleeves year round. Lots of departments furnish take home cars. Hundreds of cities don’t have the racial hatred Chicago does. Go make a difference in a place where citizens are happy to see you, but leave the Chicago attitude in Chicago.
