- This week’s installment of what Mayor Lori Lightfoot likes to call “Accountability Monday” went on without Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson — and it was the best one yet.
A first weekend of summer that ends with “only” four people dead and 20 shot is considered good news in Chicago. That’s how relentless gang violence has been in this city.
No idea where the Sun Times is getting their numbers - it isn't from HeyJackass, but they're pulling them out of somebody's ass, that's for sure.

- Johnson is in Washington, D.C., for the third leg of a four-part series of recent trips. He has criss-crossed the country over the last week for meetings his office called “central to CPD’s policy and crime-fighting agenda.”
The first trip saw Johnson travel to Philadelphia for the Major Cities Chiefs’ Association Executive Leadership meeting. There, Johnson spoke on “policing issues,” his staff said, without disclosing the specific topic.
After that, Johnson went to New Orleans for a meeting on officer morale and suicide, a subject that, unfortunately, hits close to home.
The third and fourth meetings will take Johnson to Washington twice this week. On Monday, he was in the capital for what his staff called a “series of prosecutorial meetings” with the Department of Justice and the Police Executive Research Forum.
Hmm. Nothing in Aruba. Must be a "working vacation." Groot takes those, too.

If the leader of the second largest police department in the country has to go to other cities to see how things are done maybe we have the wrong guy leading this department. Wouldnt that be something that a really small town sheriff or police chief does?
I think I’d rather take an all inclusive vacation in punta Cana...than take my chances in 011 on a hot Saturday night.

3. Incarcerate armed criminals

And, all three of these cities are more dangerous then Chicago. If you wonder around at night and leave the regular tourist areas, you are prime meat for the thugs.I have heard people say that they have traveled to those cities, had a wonderful time and nothing happened to them. Not surprising. They’re being forced to hire very questionable applicants due to the lack of interest in the CPD. Residency is a killer for the growth and strength of the CPD. Law enforcement is a very undesirable job already and forcing someone to only reside in Chicago is a major turn-off. Departments all over America recognize this and get applicants from all over. Out of state laterals too.
It would be very interesting to hear feedback from these meetings of how other cities view Chicago and its "leadership". Just a guess, but it probably ranges from "not impressed" at one end of the spectrum to "no wonder they're in deep shit" at the other.
So a know and do nothing is telling his peers how to do it. What is billing for his talks, Chicago Buffoon tells all. Bet he has them in the aisles.

I’ve received two today, and it seems like the last few weeks or so I’ve been getting more than normal on that topic. I can't figure this one out. "The Det.'s haven't set foot in the neighborhoods where the crimes are occurring" or whatever. She thinks they have time to walk around five police districts. This is kind of stunning.The depth of her ignorance is stunning.

I've blocked his emails. I went into my email and marked his as spam. I no longer get any of his nonsense, it all goes to a spam folder. I occasionally go in and delete them all. Other than that, I never see them.
This group wants money to determine how many officers are needed where. Sounds good, right? But then you realize what they really want to do is scale back the numbers and determine how many are needed and "not any more"

New Orleans PD also is still under a consent decree. So perhaps that's why it was picked as a trip destination. Though I would think they would pick larger cities that really had a low crime rate for their size and with a well run force. Interesting article from last year about their "progress". "The new report, filed Tuesday (April 10, 2018), points out several areas where monitors say the department should focus on improvements, including officer "training; bias-free policing; stops, searches, and arrests; close and effective supervision; and community engagement." Still the black folks are not happy according to this. "There was more skepticism in the black community.
