For those who do not know Emmitt Kelly, he was a clown from them "olden days" that past out leafs of cabbage to children during those Great Depression days. A Chicago artist named Walter Krawiec painted Emmitts images for posters. That's both funny & sad. Funny, because it made me spit my coffee out; sad, because it's probably not far off from how the conversation goes around her dinner table. One can hope the next mayor will boost morale and get shit done, but considering how corrupt this city is, I doubt it.
Five months in office and Lori has proven herself to be untrustworthy, deceitful and inept for the job of Mayor of the third largest city (soon to be the 4th largest) in the nation. Her bias and disrespect of Police and non minority Chicagoans is disgraceful. Lightfoot encourages chaos and mayhem city-wide as evidenced by the murders and indiscriminate shootings of Community residents. Her actions and support of social justice reform adds further to the despair and futility in the Community. A sad and angry little girl with Big Boy pants trying her best to extract racial vengeance that was perpetrated by the Daley's, and the Midget - Rahm. Lorie is NEVER critical of Daley or Rahm by name. No balls to name and shame them. Its the Chicago Way. The Community with support from the media voted for these slugs and got what they deserved. With this new Anti Police/Men Administration it’s going to take an unprecedented solidarity amongst our ranks. The myth of the, “ Blue Wall of Silence” is just that, a myth. Years ago as a young officer I had to work with a grumpy, tired looking and disheveled veteran. One of our own died in the line of duty and I asked if we could go to the wake and he said something very angry but prophetic. He said he’d take me but not go in, and that the bulk of the PO’S there aren’t there to pay respects and could care less, they just want to get out of the district for a good dinner. He then said all the bosses trying to “Outgrieve” each other were just there to be seen by other bosses and politicians and work on their next promotion and could care less. He said if he personally knew the officer or family he’d take his time to properly mourn at the wake and funeral. In retrospect after all my years later as harsh as it was I realize he couldn’t be any more correct. We are still treated as second class citizens by the politicians and bosses who refuse to make the decisions they are paid handsomely for, and in some ways I’ve become that officer, as will the bulk of our 9,600 PO’S.

The GO itself contains loads of laughable guidelines that a department like this could never follow correctly. First off, does 007 even have Sgts with 2+ years of experience? Second, do the ones who have 2+ years want to be inside every day? Third, do they even know how to turn on and operate a computer? If other Sgts don't meet this criteria, then it's not really unreasonable for the Sgt you described to be assigned to the SDSC room.

Per the general order a Sergeant assigned to oversee the room must have 2 years in grade to be considered for assignment. That is unless you are the new Sergeant assigned in the 007th District. She only has to have 28 days of Sergeant experience to be in charge. Yep that’s right she came out as a Sergeant on 01 Jul and gets to be off of the street already to sit and wait probably until she gets to be made a merit Lt. The rules don’t apply to everyone, if you don’t believe it by now I guess you never will.

Just finished watching the Democratic Presidential debates. Of note, a lot of time was spent on "fixing policing in America" which ALL of them stated that the police are racists, brutal and excessively using force when they should be "de-escalating" incidents. ALL of them called for more "restrictive" uses of force and actually demanded a "national" policy. Apparently none of them know that the Federal use of force policy is actually more liberal than most state use of force policy. Also interesting for you CPD members was that Joe Biden and Corey Booker actually got into an argument about why the policeman from Ferguson was not charged with killing Michael Brown, and Biden counters with, YOU, as the mayor of Newark, N.J., hired Garry McCarthy as your Chief. That guy has the worst record of civil rights violation than any other police chief.
