Who would have thought that the Department brass and upper level management would have actually followed rules and policy?
- Chicago's inspector general has found that the city's police department did not follow its own orders that call for lieutenants to inspect the body cameras officers wear to make sure they're working correctly.
In a report released on Tuesday, the office says a review revealed that the watch operations lieutenants did not review one recording daily across all of shifts between November 2017 and March 2018.
Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says steps have been taken to ensure compliance with the policy and that commanders are assessed on their compliance every two weeks.

It's not like they're allowed to cherry pick the shortest one available or even one of the officers that they know is always professional and does his or her job appropriately without any sort of oversight.

First off, I'm calling bullshit. The lieutenants I work with are always referring to the BWC video they looked at as a training tool

PO’s have been sparred for petty violations captures by body cameras. While other get a pass for same violations. I foresee lawsuits on basis of inconsistent enforcement/harassment in the future. Payday for some.
Body worn cameras are a bunch of bull shit. Only good for the lawyer's when law suits come pending.

No need for Lt. Position. Sergeants handle all the small bs and anything big or newsworthy is handled by Capt or D.C.

The entire world knows that CPS wears body cameras. When a citizen makes a complaint, which they can do a dozen ways, the video is watched. Hospital administrators don't watch acl surgery videos that went well because time is too precious. Oh I forgot there is no live video, there are just still pictures when everything is staged perfectly with forceps and sponges present.

I used to review 1 a month, at least that's what I said I did. Fuck that Im not looking to fuck somebody over if nobody else is complaining. Lieutenants, Captains, Commanders and above... Assign them a camera, put a dash cam in their cars, make them log in and wear the camera, wear the Mic log in to a cell phone, a pdt, and while you're at it make a gang loitering stop and read the stupid card on camera, issue the warning, issue an ISR receipt, and go ahead and make an arrest in this century.
Don't assign the paper to a minion, do it all just once this year. Put YOUR name in box 1 and take that garbage to court.

When body cameras were first proposed, they were sold on the idea that when complaints were filed or a police action took place, the film could be reviewed. As I recall, the proponents said these cameras would never be used to routinely scrutinize the conduct of police officers. How quickly that has changed and how much the liberal left lied.

Now here is another comment from someone who really does not have a clue about lawsuits, how easy it is to file one and how hard it is to actually win one. There will be no payday and no attorney in his/her right mind would take such a lawsuit. Now, a grievance? Yes, I can see that happening. But, you have to have some harm to do so.
This is Bull Shit, because I'm the Desk Sergeant and I see that BWC review report printing out everday. Not only once but sometimes twice. I see the Lieutenant come and get it, or ask if someone pickup his report, and sometimes I will hand-carry it to them. So, if he's saying everyone then your a Liar, or someone you work for is feeding you some Bull Shit. Here's a simple solution do a FOIA request. If I'm right then you need to be fired for missing representing your Office and poisoning the public trust.

Can anyone tell me out of all the sergeants and lieutenants how many were merit? And of these were any required to take remedial reading and writing classes like they did back when promotions were made to balance the racial makeup of the city in the department.

Any one working in the Districts in a uniform should be monitored with body cameras to include assigned vehicles. Decisions, directions and related actions are part of Police Operations. Monitor these supervisors and above. Minimize the fraud, waste and abuse especially in these ranks.
While the likelihood of this happening is nil it goes to the core of accountability for supervisors and police leadership. Your holding police officers accountable but not the leadership.
