Our tanks in WWII were able to go on almost any
European roadway because they had a solid foundation.
Fuck this American dry wall construction.

citys gonna pay for that. all precast is fragile and has weight limits posted. city vehicles ignore all city ordinance and laws. retired city employee. o/t got our mini pensin fund news letter today. 15 % cash burn every year. lost about 9% in the market this year. say its funded at 25% but i think thats a lie. the end is nearer than they admit. sure it wont bother lightscum when it goes belly up as long as sanctuary, ghetto and lgbtq communities have plenty of taxpayer treasure.

Two feet farther back, or a dozen feet farther forward, and this would have been much worse.

Best wishes to the driver for a speedy recovery. He already used up a whole lotta luck.

Thanks for using the fire engine to block a dangerous hole. However next time consider cones. They are lighter and a lot easier to pick up.

8/07/2019 01:27:00 AM

Not a street. This was the upper level of a parking structure. One might ask, "what is the load limit" and "was it inspected and approved by the City?"

I hope the injured fireman is ok. Now onto the real story...

That's what happens when you send a Hook and Ladder, 4 Pumper Trucks, 2 Buggies, the Fire Boat and a Snorkel down the same road to a rubbish fire.

Who flew and Tyler knew? Truck 126

How soon until they get a sticker on their red personnel vehicles commemorating this?

Truck 126, We fight what Chicagoans fear, potholes.

Ha! I got a million of 'em

Best wishes and quick recovery to the firefighter who took a beating (and a helluva scare) when 'ol 126 took her sudden step down.

For thse who don't realize it, the rooftop pavement of a parking garage collapsed while 126 was on a calll; it's not a City street.

What was the call, rubbish fire or check the piss bum well-being bambulance run?
Was that a city granted low-bid structure?
Has the city inspector paid the building owner a visit?
Who gonna pay for that hole in the floor?

So many questions.

The twitter photo from below shows a precast construction that clearly wasn't rated for a fire engine or anything much larger than a big SUV or pickup. Someone ignored the weight limit signs. The city will probably avoid paying and get sued.

The mid 50's through 60's Chrysler Imperials
were unibody and STOUT AS ALL GET OUT.

They were banned from participation in demolition derbys
because their construction was so immensely strong.

413, ('59 to '63) 426, ('64 & '65) and 440 ('66 onward)
Wedge motors moved those tanks with authority.

That ol' '59 Imperial says:
"hold my beer..."

Unibody CAN be quite strong.

Speedy recovery to the injured.
This could've been pretty bad if
the front bumper didn't hang-up
and actually hold.

All this for a bs EMS call. Instead of parking the engine and walking up the ramp they tried driving all they way up to the call. No reason for the truck to even have been in the garage.

its lightweight precast boyoos. that shit routinely breaks while being erected. cars and pickups only. the truck is 38,000 lbs plus it had a full load of water probably 500 gallons at 7 lb a gallon. a pickim up truck is like 5,000 lb. so it weighs 8 or 9 times what a pickup does plus im sure its not the first time someone has driven a truck to the front door. everything has engineered limits for cost and total weight. people ignore signs and bad shit happens. citys gonna eat this one hope the call was important.

You don't know it's a BS call until you get there. If it's not you want all your gear available. This wouldn't have happened if the ambulances weren't tied up on the hang nail calls.

It was an EMS call. What do they need all the firefighting gear for. Nice try. Would be like us calling SWAT on every call

For the uninformed, there are firefighter paramedics and e.m.t.’s on fire engines and trucks now. They can initiate care prior to an ambulance arriving on the scene. The real problem is that there historically haven’t been enough ambulances and because actual fire calls are way down and e.m.s.calls are way up,the politics of the numbers game relating to needs of the department and nepotism on the firefighter side of the department. The Fire department is really the fire and e.m.s.department.If fire engines and trucks didn’t go on the so-called b.s. e.m.s. Calls they would have little or no numbers to justify the manning that the union says is needed. The Fire department brass and prior union leadership have been on board with each other in keeping ambulance growth down. One tribe surviving while the other tribe(ambulances)keeping the numbers up for job justification.
