The announcement of the new online tool comes after Chicago’s most violent weekend this year saw 55 people shot, seven fatally, and as gun violence cast a pall nationally with mass shootings in Texas and Ohio that killed more than 30 people.
At a news conference at police headquarters, Johnson lamented the two national tragedies and Chicago’s weekend violence as he revealed the department’s “Gun Offender Dashboard,” a new public portal highlighting weapons-related arrest data on adults.
The site provides the public with what Johnson called a “transparent snapshot” of people arrested on gun crimes in the city, the specific gun charge and if they posted a full cash bail, 10 percent of that amount or were released without posting any money.
Johnson has increasingly been blaming Chicago’s continuing violence on gun offenders who too quickly bond out following arrests only to return to their violent ways — a view disputed by Timothy Evans, Cook County’s chief judge.
Regarding this, we're actually on the same page as Special Ed. Accountability shouldn't just be expected of the police - it should be (but isn't) demanded at all levels of the system....especially the States Attorney's office and the Courts....both of which fall under Prickwrinkle's purview.

And just how is the average person going to access this information, if they even know it exists. Will it be on the front page of liberal newspapers, will it be on the leftist news channels, will the mayor disclose this information after every accountability meeting at a morning news conference. How many current exempts were promoted from the rank of Lieutenant and bypassed Captain? How many of those that bypassed Captain is a minority? It seems like many minority exempts don't have to achieve the rank of Captain first while White Exempts must. That is an apparent disparate practice based on race. The State's Attorney's Office was never needed to approve misdemeanor charges.
I am gonna give Eddie a cautious kudo for this new portal. I think Lori is beginning to see that her police are doing the work and they are getting guns and felons with guns off the street only to be put right back out by the courts.
