My Opinion,
I am a retired Deputy Chief from CPD and served for 33+ years.
I strongly believe bringing an individual from outside CPD to be the Superintendent is a terrible mistake doomed to failure!
An outsider does not know the culture nor the individuals he would be working with. An outsider will immediately have to lean on individuals currently employed at CPD for advice and guidance. These individuals might and might not be part of the problem or part of the solution.
I strongly recommend that the the Mayor consider recently retired Commander Mark Buslik to become the next Superintendent. He had an excellent reputation with all of the communities he came into contact with, is very innovative, well spoken, respected across the board by current members of CPD and is a strong supporter of the Democratic party, which is an anomaly for members of law enforcement.
I believe his appointment would be supported by all of the stakeholders.

Still nothing from the FOP about another bid unit getting 15 - 1 (due to an off duty incident) = 14 management p/os with 2 years on. Why should they have to wait till a grievance is filed. Also, we are sick of hearing “if you dont like it come to meetings”. No, thats why we pay our dues. We entrust the FOP to do their job. We shouldnt have to watch over your every move. Brandon is wrong. You will not get your credentials if the penalty for the underlying CR # is something that will be determined by the police board. A fireable offense, like driving a department vehicle while intoxicated.
If you still actually care about this job, you need to pack it up and move on to something better and more worth your time. This job is nothing more than a paycheck, treat it as such. Serving this city and it's communities is as emotionally unfulfilling of a task as you can have.
Going out there in a CPD uniform and actually caring is like a divine punishment out of Greek mythology brought to life. If you recall Sisyphus, the king of Ephyra. Sisyphus was punished by being forced to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down when it nears the top, repeating this action for eternity. I think we have Sisyphus beat.
Beck had it easy because "Sanctuary" went toe-to-toe against the "Communerty" in LA with the Greenlight killings, and thus his officers didnt have to put in as much work until "Sanctuary" became as big a problem as Crips/Bloods.

I have seen this more then once. My neighbor went on duty disability from falling off a chair in 008. That was a few years ago. I used to see her ride her motorcycle with her "disability". She also got punched in the mouth by a prisoner in 008 when she told him she would kick his ass. He got the last laugh.

Some dudes in custody, PH2 can't even identify "offenders" cause you know, they're... in a helicopter. All that for what?? A stolen car(cue sad clown noises)

LA Chief right at home here in clout city. Gets daughter promoted, appears he is comfortable working in a corrupted environment already, great for fostering even more chaos in the Department for his support of Sanctuary City and no significant increase in manpower. Of course he is! In just another month 025 will be celebrating Anthony's four year anniversary as commander. How many exempts do you know that have stayed in the same district for that long of a time? Don't let his detractors fool you. Anthony Escamerit has been kept there because he has done such an outstanding job that crime is almost nonexistent at Grand/Central. Drug testing & for what is a contractual issue. Urinalysis testing for THC is written into our contract and positive tests can/will result in separation from the department. This employment contract is valid even after the state legalization. Do Not consume THC after January 1st. Also look at other police departments where cannabis with THC is legal, Officers in those states are still Not allowed to consume THC. Cannabis containing THC will still be illegal under federal law. I have seen this more then once. My neighbor went on duty disability from falling off a chair in 008. That was a few years ago. I used to see her ride her motorcycle with her "disability". She also got punched in the mouth by a prisoner in 008 when she told him she would kick his ass. He got the last laugh.

Brandon is wrong. You will not get your credentials if the penalty for the underlying CR # is something that will be determined by the police board. A fireable offense, like driving a department vehicle while intoxicated.

This is Brandon If one resigns "while under investigation" depending on the nature of the offense he will be allowed or denied the IROCC card.
For example residency violation is a fireable offense. Yet, if an Officer resigns while under investigation for residency violation he WILL be allowed the IROCC. Specifically since residency is only an ordinance violation, besides being an administrative policy.
There are less serious violations which are the same thing. Think about it. SInce it often takes months for an investigation to be completed, conceivably one could always be the subject of an open CR number. Another example is a court deviation. Resigning while under investigation for a simple court deviation will not preclude one from his IROCC
In Eds case, not only is a DUI a charge which wouldnt prohibit him from the IROCC, but in this specific case, there are no criminal charges at all. ( maybe there should have been but there werent), so he is resigning, clean as the Board of Health.
NYPD (78 precincts): 77th Pct.(Crown Heights, Brooklyn) 13 Murders, 73rd Pct. (Brownsville, Brooklyn) tied with 42nd Pct. (Morrisiana, the Bronx) 11 Murders and the 115th Pct. (Jackson Heights, Queens) 10 Murders. The remaining 74 NYPD pcts. had single digit Murder counts.
LAPD (21 divisions): 77th St. 35 Murders, Southeast 27 Murders and Newton St. 21 Murders.
CPD (22 districts): 011 68 Murders, 006 41 Murders, 007 40 Murders and 015 35 Murders.
The CPD's 11th District (Fillmore) leads the three most populous U.S. cities with 68 MURDERS!

Of course he is! In just another month 025 will be celebrating Anthony's four year anniversary as commander. How many exempts do you know that have stayed in the same district for that long of a time? Don't let his detractors fool you. Anthony Escamerit has been kept there because he has done such an outstanding job that crime is almost nonexistent at Grand/Central. It has absolutely nothing to do with him being a corrupt, stupid, lieing thief that the department is scared to demote or promote. That's just the jealous haters talking.

So Fillmore (68), Gresham (41) and Englewood (40) lead all the pcts. in the NYPD and LAPD for 2019 murders; 011 being almost double the 35 murders in the LAPD's 77th St. station tied with Austin (35 murders). WOW!
What makes 011 so bloody out of 121 police stations in the three most populous cities in the nation? Incredible! Add that the NYPD's most deadly 77th Pct. (Crown Heights in Brooklyn) has only 13 murders. Most (13 of 22) of the CPD's districts have more murders than the NYPD worst pct. for murders.
I go along with Mike Howe's recommendation of retired commander Buslic. He was a no-bullshit, highly intelligent and dedicated member who worked his way up through the ranks, legitimately. Don't know if anyone could bring him back to this Sewer Department, but Kidney Bean's selection pretty much lowered the bar as far is it could go. And the only way left is up. Lightfoot must have been slow dancing with her Amazon wife during the entire Jody Weiss/Garry McCarthy fiasco of bringing someone in from outside the Department. But leaving Rip Van Johnson in after Emmanuel left could be an argument against promoting an insider.
So the 11th District leads all the station houses in the NYPD, LAPD and the CPD runner-up 006 for 2019 murders by at least 27 murders. Number 1 of 121 police stations.
Yet the CPD pays empty-holstered officers of equal rank the same salary as the street cops in 011. Obviously, there's something wrong here.

Brandon. A court deviation is NOT an investigation in the sense of being considered for IROCC. It is investigated at an administrative level and is not anywhere in the same ball park as a CR#. Please, don't confuse the snowflakes.
