- An off-duty Chicago police officer struck an on-duty cop in the face while dressed as a clown on Halloween night in Boystown, according to prosecutors and the woman’s mugshot. The accused officer, who has two years on the force, is assigned to desk duty until an internal investigation is completed, according to a CPD spokesperson.

Didn't Springfield change the law so that an off-duty assaulting the on-duty PO would automatically be de-certified upon conviction? This was after a westside incident (family house party) from the early 2000's resulted in a misdemeanor conviction but no decertification. I think this was in 015, right Chris S.?

The investigation shouldn’t take 4 years for COPA to figure out either.
I’m all for a thoughtful and detailed investigation in all matters of complaints- especially if someone is stripped.
HOWEVER, it seems that a lot of the cases involving off-duty incidents are left twisting in the wind for way too long.
The public wants accountability from the police department, and I agree.
On-duty stuff can be a lot trickier to sort out, but stuff like this?
Off-duty, intoxicated, causing a disturbance, and a battery to PO? It shouldn’t take any longer than 2-3 months to shitcan her from the department. There’s no way she should be at callback for 3 years. And it’s sickening how long some cases drag on for. Child molester cops, thieves, all sorts of accusations, and the investigations take YEARS.
I’m sure it’s on body camera, and surveillance footage from the area. And I know, we all make mistakes, and I’m not perfect. But for fucks sake- if you can’t help yourself from making catastrophic mistakes off-duty, you have no business wearing the uniform.
You simply make the rest of our jobs even harder.

Many, many years ago a young female Sgt made a mistake of posing at an airplane crash outside Midway airport. The crash killed a kid in a car driving past the airport. Her biggest mistake was posting the photo online, Facebook.
The brilliant dark minds of the SCC membership pasted her picture into every historical event: Washington Crossing the Delaware, the moon landing, JFK assassination, D-Day invasion, etc, etc, etc.

There could be another explanation for this. Maybe the off duty PO mistook the on duty PO as just a person dressed up in a police costume celebrating Halloween. And furthermore it is known that on duty police officers have an unjust bias against clowns since the arrest of John Wayne Gacy. If the defendant’s attorney uses this defense you owe me a percentage of your fee.

This reminds me, Many years ago a female officer on the north side was injured by po in an on duty incident by an off duty detective. He must have had some heavy juice because his charges were reduced to misdemeanor so he could keep his job. This detective had more enemies than friends I heard, but his juice prevailed. Judge even told him he was the worse liar he ever had on his stand, but in the end sentenced him with a slap on the hand. I was there with a group of officers showing her support. He went on to retire with a full pension from what I remember. This female po endured a lot of pain and suffering caused from this incident on and off duty. Just goes to show that with a blink of an eye, a roll of the dice tour that your career and life can change all in days work by some other a$$wipe. Be careful out there because these merit hacks/clout hacks can get you jammed up and steal what you worked hard for. Nobody promoted her, or stuck their head out for her when it came down to it. I still see her now and again in her blues and I wonder how she managed. Tough girl inside and out. Be careful boys and girls. Your worse nightmare could be that call involving a po.

This whole incident was brought on because she had just changed her meds.
For those who keep harping on how she got to a "specialized unit" of mass transit, she finished her probation in 022, where she never caused any problems. Shortly off status she was detailed out via reverse seniority to mass transit for a summer detail along with a couple of others. After which they asked many of them if they wanted to stay.
Anyone remember in Area 5 when Elvis got locked up for hitting Mike Ditka on halloween? Just misdemeanors but both came into the Area. The Ditka costume was perfect and Elvis even came out of the interview room to do a kick.

The clown makeup does not distort /hide her appearance.
She has two years OTJ. CPD has many recent official photos of her without out clown makeup.
The mug shot is "best evidence" of how she appeared on the date & time in question.
