I can't see that L.A. crap playing here. We are two totally different departments. That being said, their detective unit is well-staffed, and I believe have a dedicated Crime Lab, and the supervisors, (again, if I'm not mistaken) must have previously been detectives. But L.A.'s straight-laced, hands-off (see Rodney King where they struck him with batons but refused to go hands-on and just tackle him) style is not our style.

so, you merit promote and appoint people up the ranks. Going up the ranks entitles you to more specialized training, the command of various units and plenty of things to put on your resume. Get a few degrees from BS institutions ( we have IIT and Lewis and Calumet College and Chicago State here), and you are now qualified to run and command a variety of departments and companies. That is how things work. However, as you can see from our Chicago experience, when these over promoted political hacks take any job other then another government job, that is in the private sector, their lack of everything quickly shows up and they get canned, that is if they even get the job. One of our past superintendents started a security firm with a former top federal official who actually runs things. Clout got them numerous contracts.

I retired from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, 28 years. Beck ain’t no Daryl Gates, that’s a fact. His officers used to call him “Politically Correck Charlie Beck”. To the commenter who said he’s a Soros-appointee... bingo. His LAPD troops liked him about as much as you guys liked Special Ed. Beck sounds like the perfect fit in a Lightfoot administration.
