Screw You Peasants
- At a time when she’s trying desperately to get more police officers on the street, Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Wednesday defended her decision to continue security details for former Mayors Richard M. Daley and Rahm Emanuel.
The Chicago Tribune reported this week that Daley and Emanuel continue to receive bodyguard protection; no such policy exists for former mayors in Los Angeles, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas and San Jose.
Philadelphia has a unit protecting former mayors and dignitaries as needed. But officers are not permanently assigned to former mayors, the newspaper reported.
Lightfoot said the decision to continue taxpayer-funded bodyguards for the former mayors was made after the Chicago Police Department conducted a “security threat assessment” for Daley and Emanuel.
It's all buzzwords and bullshit and a waste of taxpayer money for thieves who made millions via crooked connections. And they still work behind the scenes attempting to strip commoners (who can't afford security details) from being able to defend themselves.

If Richie and Rahm think they need security then they can pay for it out of their own pockets. They picked ours thoroughly enough during their tenure in office by their mismanagement of the city and its finances. Enough already.
Lightfoot forgets that the ONLY reasons she got elected were because (a) she isn't Toni Preckwinkle, and (b) she promised reform.
As reform goes, cutting-off the taxpayer-funded drivers and door-holders for these two prima donas is low-hanging fruit. Yet even that she's managing to screw-up.
Be careful with your credibility, Lori. You didn't have much to begin with and now you're pissing it away.
The other cities that do not provide bodyguards to past mayors are unlike Chicago in that those cities have free elections and officials to not lord over the peasants like the Russian Czars.

How about this detail. In the early 70s, 016 had a detail on old man Parky Cullerton’s house who was the Cook Country Assessor. The detail was 1500 to 2330. There was a regular PO who sat in front of the house in his own car (they later made him a Sgt). So when he was off somebody from the watch had to go which was usually a new a PO. They picked them because you had to use your own car. If you said you wouldn't use your own car they would tell you you have to stand in front of the house for the tour (not pleasant in the winter, and there was no union at that time so they could do just about anything to you). So the detail consisted of sitting there and when Old Parky would arrive home in his chauffeured (PO ?) driven big black County car and you were expected to get out and stand there while Parky got out and went into his house. You were also expected to drive his cook to the store if she needed anything. He lived around Portage Park across from a grade school. You had to call for a beat car for a lunch relief. At around 2200 you had to drive to the news stand at Irving and Milwaukee and get him the early editions of the next day’s papers. He would then pay you for the papers and wave you off. These dignitary protection details are just using the police as servant’s for the Democrat aristocracy. Over the years I worked with other POs who did politician details and the stories are all the same you are just a gopher for these scum.

Maybe if the former mayors did not spend their time in office screwing the citizens of Chicago out of millions of dollars and maybe if they did not all have that FU attitude, they could retire (or get voted out) of office and walk the streets of Chicago without needing body guards.

Just to play it safe Eddie Burke is having one of his voice over lackeys make another threat on his life to keep his security detail.
What threat assessment? They get bodyguards because their ego demands that they have bodyguards.
Underscoring the point that these security details are really just glorified gophers, I can't count the number of events I attended when they were mayor where, had there been an actual threat to Rahm or Richie, their security detail was too far away to have been able to help. Richie and Rahm wanted them far away from the TV cameras.
Ed Burke always kept his two-man detail cooling their heels parked on (ironically) Federal Street, while he'd be having lunch or sitting in the steam room 10 floors above at the Union League Club.
They're nothing but vain, pocket-picking thieves. Thanks for aiding and abetting them, Lori.

I’ve done some ocular pat-downs, sensory assessments and other surreptitious techniques here and there during my investigative days and never found a single instance of anyone ever commit, convey or show desire other than subliminal, to carry out any threat or crime against neither Daley or Emanuel, and include Harold, Jane and Bilandic too.
There was once a odd fellow that did call Daley an asshole once and was actually convicted for what amounts to name calling in CookCo!
Normally nut jobs just go away, but someone in The Detail had to prove their worth.
Civil disgruntlement is part of the job... all talk, no action and definitely not worthy of a constant security detail.

I don't think that this is as easy to do as you think. It would take a change in the law. The racial scrambling would be so intense it probably would never happen.
Conducting a " security and threat assessment" is a complex task that must follow standards set by experience and by the security industry. The US Secret Service has their protocols for doing this also. I just wonder who did this " assessment" for the CPD and what credentials they have and what protocols they followed? Or is this all just smoke and mirrors to cover the mayor's ass and keep the security detail going?
