- OT: Does everyone know that the department is looking into every pointing incident. They said all it would be is a “notification” to oemc. Well it turns out that they are tracking every pointing incident and force review unit is going in and reviewing BWC and reports for every incident. So u point your weapon, you are going to be scrutinized every which way they can and if they find something on one of the body cams that doesn’t match up... watch out. If u don’t believe me, go into clearnet and look at the new tab. Every pointing incident is in there and they’re investigating them just like TRR’s.
Of course they're tracking it. Of course they're looking at them. And pretty soon, if you point your weapon too many times, you'll be counseled, retrained, SPAR-ed and accused of profiling, etc. And it will ALL be discoverable at your next lawsuit.

Off topic: One of my observations is squads flying thru red lights with blue lights on and then tapping the siren with a short burst right at the intersection thinking this will clear the intersection. So tonight at or about 2045hrs. I am e/b on a major street on the northwest side and I am approaching the light which had turned green for 2 to 3 seconds. You are n/b on a major street with blue lights and just right before the intersection you touch the siren. In this area you came over an embankment so you appeared suddenly. Good thing I have good peripheral vision and was able to stop because you blew right thru the red light going too fast to stop. My point here is not to get somebody in trouble but to make you think. One thing I learned on the job is have your car under control, which means being able to stop before going thru an intersection. If you are going to an in-progress, start hitting that siren at least a half a block away. If you want tor run silent blue lighting it that's fine but be ready to stop. Don’t let the adrenaline take over. For the few seconds you may lose it’s better to get to the job in one piece and being able to help, rather than having to tell the Zone, we are involved send a sergeant. Stay safe in these perilous times.
What a great time to be a Chicago Police Officer, or in general a police officer overall. I seriously need to change my career. I had one pointing incident and the B.S. that comes with it, is beyond me. Like I always tell the young ppo’s, if you can, get out now that you’re not invested too much. The news said that the man was stopped for drinking on the public way and then spit in the copper’s face. I’m not here to judge the actions of the police involved in this incident. What I am here to do is tell anyone that is out there playing police to think real hard about trying to generate bullshit numbers like ANOV’s because that city ordinance could put you at call back awaiting a notification from the Grand Jury that your case has been superseded by indictment. I work in a Unit that’s lucky enough to sit in meetings and listen to the “Dept’s” plan. This post is 99.9% accurate. They are looking at every incident that involves pointing your weapon, they are scrutinizing the video and reports. And yes, plans to categorize officers has been talked about. In 2020, foot pursuits will be added to our daily review of incidents. Literally, everything the officer does regarding effecting a stop or arrest will be under review by a auditing Unit in 2020. It's right in the order. Everybody needs to start reading the documents that are supposed to govern your job. You have directives, R&R, ILCS, the contract, BOPs, AMFN, etc. By knowing what they're looking for, you learn how to write things up. You know what your rights are supposed to be. If you even half-ass keep up with everything, you'll know more than a lot of the supervisors and exempts you'll deal with.

Di anybody see the video a few days back of a copper in another city backpedaling away from an offender coming at him with a long machete raised? The copper has his gun out and the offender charges him and the copper (who at this point should have lit his ass up!) Turns to run into the street and trips off the curb and sprawls face down on the pavement as the offender rushes in to potentially chop his f ing head off. Luckily there were a couple other coppers coming and one of them shot and killed the offender. This is in the middle of a busy street. I won't second guess the first copper but to me this sort of hesitation is a byproduct of all this anti police activism and blm and fear of shooting the wrong colored person and being demonized and possibly charged and losing your job or going to prison. When someone is charging at you with a two foot machete there should be no hesitation to stand your ground and fire.

Beyond pointing incidents...be wary of the recent legalization of pot in Illinois even if you are an authorized medical marijuana user. It is still against federal law and considered a Schedule 1 drug, along with coke and LSD.

Off topic, but I just saw on the WGN news some guy getting body slammed by the police at 79/ Cottage Grove. The news said that the man was stopped for drinking on the public way and then spit in the copper’s face. I’m not here to judge the actions of the police involved in this incident. What I am here to do is tell anyone that is out there playing police to think real hard about trying to generate bullshit numbers like ANOV’s because that city ordinance could put you at call back awaiting a notification from the Grand Jury that your case has been superseded by indictment. Fuck this city!!! If they wanted you to be the real police they wouldn’t put so many restrictions on stopping people or arresting people. Please be very careful out there because the powers that be are looking to make an example out of the police.

OT: WGN morning news just aired a citizens video of an PO in CD slamming a dude to the ground; apparently knocking him unconscious.
Per the story, they stopped dude for drinking and during the interview dude spit in the POs face.
The body slam was hard, this PO, in todays climate, will be lucky not to end up in jail, let alone losing his job.
Crimesha salivates at crap like this.

Well sonny, I hope you make the top 5 or 6 on the watch, because all the watches can give off is 15% on any given day, and it MUST be done by seniority now. This is all kept on the district server and the spreadsheet can be compared to the A+A's at compstat. Now that you have to swipe, I expect to see you back at work after the test, 'cause I know the test isn't 8.5 hours long. I'll keep an eye out for the order excepting this rule for you though........

The catch 22 right there, you can't. You have to just accept that fact and do as little as possible in the slowest manner possible. Or preferably get out if possible.

Cops that don't mind being cooled off with water on a hot day. They let us do our thang otherwise. Never fear the selfie generation will oblige. Think of it as being the new urban zoo keeper whose job is to throw out free stuff and make sure the critters are comfortable. I can see it now next summer the CPD will start off with their "Let's Get Happy" campaign, the CPD Zookeepers will throw out a starter pack of pot, snacks and a tiny B. West autographed pillow.

Interesting, I was reading the UK Cop Humor page on flakebook and noted several saying they were quitting and becoming train drivers. Good money { LNER current pay, $89k} and a 4 day 32 hours work week. Of course trains are different there. The command staff over there, same bit with connected, kiss ass, and the right gender and color getting preference. And the same dumb ass useless stuff takes priority over combating real crime. I lived over there for about 6 months long ago, thought about moving there as I had an English girlfriend but even as bad as things were in the early 80's with lots of folks out of work and few jobs to be had, it was paradise to the England of today. Private security is the new thing for the rich as there aren't enough cops now and yet they are sent out on foolish missions like to investigate a man for retweeting a transgender limerick. Who could work in a place like that. I hope they keep quitting. But the useless London mayor and other elitists will still be safe and secure. I'd rather drive a train and likely so would the copper than penned this article.
