Gee, What Happened?

  • Trespassing charges against nine members of the Chicago Teachers Union arrested for holding a sit-in outside the offices of a mega-developer during last month’s teachers strike were dropped Wednesday. The nine CTU members were summarily dismissed and wished a “Happy Thanksgiving” by Cook County Judge Robert D. Kuzas after their complaining party did not appear before the court.

The CTU members were arrested on Oct. 29 after staging a sit-in protest at Fulton West, an office building in the 1300 block of West Fulton Street, which is the headquarters of Lincoln Yards developer Sterling Bay. The CTU targeted Sterling Bay to show what they believe is the city’s misplaced funding priorities, since Lincoln Yards stands to receive as much as $1.3 billion in tax-increment financing to help pay for infrastructure improvements at the planned new development on the North Side.

All nine teachers were charged with a single count of misdemeanor criminal trespass to property.
They did trespass - they admitted to such and it's on video everywhere. They did it purposefully as an act of Civil Disobedience. Whatever, there should be minimal consequences for misbehavior.

But Sterling Bay, after receiving $1.3 billion in TIF money....well, that's a pretty big stick for Groot to hold over their heads if they actually went ahead with a slam-dunk guilty finding on the teachers.

So everyone just wasted the time and efforts of how many officers, arresting, transporting, processing, etc. What a great use of resources.

UPDATE: The teachers were arrested on signed complaints from Sterling Bay - "Court Sergeant to Handle."

Since all this time and effort was involved and the complaint did not show up, the State’s Attorney Office should have subpoenaed the complaint into court to explain why they signed a complaint initially and the reason for their non appearance. So will the police be sued for false arrest? Don’t trust the socialist teacher’s union. They should have honored the police request to disperse. They both work for the same City.

Ain't this but about a bitch...

The teachers get to exercise the same
"Permission Slip Criminality"
just like so many of their students?

Ohhhhh... Just tingles all around, eh?

That giddy yet naughty/guilty "Damn! I got away with it!" feeling.

Heh... That first time feeling writing "Fuck You!"
in large block letters with magic marker
on the school washroom wall.

SCC asks:
"Gee, What Happened?"

This city has gone stark raving,
fling handfuls of shit at the moon and howl - mad...

That's what happened.

There was one of these CTU assholes on WBBM radio shortly after they left the courthouse bragging on how they were vindicated and planning to go back for additional lawbreaking activities against Sterling Bay.

Emboldened by the non-appearance of a “prosecuting victim”. Further emboldened by an asshole judge who, instead of giving them a warning/lecture, ladled upon them a pleasantry.

Fuck Sterling Bay.
Double fuck the “honorable” judge Kuzas.
Triple fuck the CTU.

The clerk called tor the complainant and the 12th District Tac Team who locked them up (all no shows). After the charges were dropped the defendants made some snide comments about the CPD and walked out of the courtroom smiling like Jussie Smollett to give a statement to the press. What a great example to the kids they teach back in the classroom. This city and county are beyond redeemable.

Then all the police board hearings were won or tossed out by other attorneys.

Amazing his wife still lives up on Sheridan road but he has a apartment on west side
To keep his judges appointment.

They did an investigation but that was fixed just like the rest of this County and city crap

Sterling Bay is unjustly enriched by that TIF aware. City Hall didn't follow letter-of-law in warding SB its TIF, didn't abide by TIF legislation, so award is/was unlawful but typical of City Hall's rewarding of connected real estate developers with TIF monies.

If you identify the SB partners, the SB investors, you'll see it's the "biggest band of bros" yet assembled of connected rich white guys. No wonder CTU targeted SB.

St. “Denis” and St. “Lawrence” are “real” schools? I can tell by your incorrect spelling of both! St. Laurence is the bottom of the barrel cheap Catholic school for boys who can’t get in to better schools and are too soft to make it through a public school. Oh wait, tell me again about their “sports scholarships” - because every St. Laurence alumnus I know that was such a big sports “star” is a neighborhood burn-out sitting on a bar stool talking about what they could have been if it wasn’t for that dang injury.

It is way past obvious that the entire oversight apparatus is now focused and concentrated on one target.

The POLICE.

They are to be blamed for everything.

Every action is critically reviewed, analyzed and scrutinized. And every effort will be extended to find mistakes and misconduct. And drop the full weight of the system on the police.

Everyone else gets a pass.

Just what did you expect the judge to do when the victim is a no show and the ASA drops the charges.
Kuzas was a good attorney who defended his clients, like an attorney is supposed to. Both CPD clients
and the persons that CPD arrested. Also was CPD himself. Always acted professionally with honor.
I have been on the opposite side of a prosecution several times with attorney Kuzas as the defense
counsel. Again an honorable man doing his job in a professional manner. I do not know how he conducts
his courtroom but from prior contact I will assume he is above board and honest. We can't ask for
much more. To say that his actions in this case should have been different and a guilty finding should have
been rendered is just not correct. You should think about what you are saying before you publish. You
make us all sound dumb with comments like that.

Arrests are badges of honor for liberal wack jobs.
Kuzas should have at the very least handed down a hefty fine to cover costs for the down time taken by the police.
Guess Kuzas paid his dues to CC Dem Party and no longer wants to sit in traffic or domestic court. And it’s not like he’s going to score any Remember Me Retain votes from the masses by pandering...he’s a limited addition jurist in these changing, restorative times.
Though this wasn’t the crime of the century, just another unhinged CPS theatrical stunt that should have coms with a cost.
Thinking of the progressive alternatives vying for the bench, I’ll still vote to retain him.

As for GrootLoafer the Reformer; spanked by Rahm Inc when she tried to pull the Sterling TIF money. Greedy and still bitter CTU/CPS feeling so emboldened and solely entitled to that city hall slush fund called TIF.
Don’t forget the CTU managed to squeeze Rahm for their 2015-16 contract to get $300 mil in TIF money.
Angry imp GrootLoafer rolled over like a pill bug too, but only doled $160 mil. to CTU, they still wants the other half even as GrootFoot maintained the giving $170mil in TIF funds for CPS for pension pickups.

Kinda related story. I remember the college kids getting arrested after the start of the 2nd Iraq war. Some arrestees were shipped to area 5. My partner and I were placed in front of area 5 for safety concerns. I remember the kids coming out “crying” saying “ they sent us to prison” “ they didn’t give us food and water! We should sue them!” This was after spending 4 hours in lock up. I’m sure the teachers had a similar experience. Watching snowflakes have a meltdown, is quite entertaining.

And people, including teachers, wonder why the public school students are out of control and WHY there are police officers assigned to the high schools. When there is no responsibility or culpability for the teachers' actions & the actions of those in their "community", it just emboldens the teenagers even more.
The vicious cycle continues...

State's Attorney's office made the call on this. No one; from complainants or arresting officers, was notified. The whole group of "teachers" we're called up to the bench at the same time,as a group. This is an indication that a deal was made. If they were called up one at a time like any other defendant then this would've gone a different way. What sucked was seeing these douche bags hugging each other and posing for the news cameras on the sidewalk in front of the court doors.

Ball Licking ?
I published comments concerning incidents that I have first hand knowledge of. If I did not have first hand knowledge that was
also specified quite clearly. Of course you on the other hand did an extensive poll of the attorney's clients to find out what
they thought of him. Part of your job as an arresting officer appearing in all of the different courts around the city ?
Kuzaa as a defense attorney is supposed to represent his clients even when they are dead wrong guilty. That did not make him
dishonorable. As for your polling of his clients I just have to say that I don't believe it.
