Bad Idea Groot

  • Former Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck will be announced as the interim Chicago police superintendent on Friday, sources said. Beck is flying into Chicago and will be introduced at a press conference Friday, sources said.

    Beck only plans to serve in the role for as long as needed while officials undertake a nationwide search for a new permanent chief. The search is expected to take three to six months, sources said.
So why do we even have an exempt command staff if Groot can just summon in a 66-year-old former LAPD Chief with questionable material in his background such as:
  • promoting relatives,
  • harassing subordinates,
  • "forgetting" he signed a Contract purchasing at least one horse (at a profit) from his own daughter for the LAPD Mounted Unit?
We don't have enough corrupt CPD backgrounds, Groot has to import it now? He can't even serve in a sworn capacity being outside the age limit. Why even come here for a temp-job and have no one to trust or work with? What political fuckery is this?

Did everyone see the Sun Times list of potential replacements for Special Ed?
  • Melissa Staples - with the lowest homicide clearance rate in recorded history;
  • Eugene Williams - whose name appeared on all those e-mails Ferguson couldn't find regarding the Lie-tenant scandal;
  • Al Wysinger - who won a medal for shooting at (and missing) a fleeing suspect in the middle of a block party and whose wife went from "merit" pick in the low 1,000s to scoring #1 on the Lie-tenant test. Not just #1, but supposedly with a perfect 100% score;
  • Barb West - nicknamed "Pillows" for the sleeping device she brought to her midnight shift and former IAD head who ran at least one illegal First Amendment investigations regarding the blog involving extensive surveillance of an innocent party;
And that's just the CPD insiders.

Bad choice.

Another outsider who thinks he can change the game let alone the rules of the community.

Another sanctuary city guy! His politics are as confusing as his police work?

And what does this show the current command staff let alone rank and file officers of CPD?

No matter how hard you try. You can never make it in CPD. Because the politics mean more then the truth!

So what exactly are all the dummies standing behind Eddie Two-Drinks for? Why even have this load of brass if Groot can't find even one that could handle the interim sup job? Is there some special contract for Beck, perhaps one including housing? At 66, I can't see why he would take this temporary gig, he doesn't need the money. And relocating to Shitcago as a temp? He's got have been offered a very sweet deal. Or perhaps some Chicago Way future contract for one thing or another. He knows where CPD can buy a horse if Groot is interested. Just thinking of a comedy sketch with Beck playing Wilbur Post and Mr. Ed's pint size pony being played by the Groot.

Should be very interesting who they find in their national search for sup. Any ideas? Hey how about Oakland chief, Anne Kirkpatrick? Yes, of course I'm kidding. According to a March. 2019 article it seems the Coalition for Police Accountability (CPA) has been calling on Federal Compliance Director Robert Warsaw to fire Oakland’s Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick. So perhaps she would welcome a return to Grootville. Two of America’s most liberal, and whitest, big cities (Seattle is 70% white; Portland, 76%) now both have black females in the chief position. Danielle Outlaw, 41, a former Oakland police commander, is now chief in Portland, while Carmen Best is chief in Seattle. 12 bigger cities have a female chief, 7 of those are "women of color".

In this 2018 article they don't seem to like her too well. Maybe she is missing Chicago. Is she singing 'Pulaski at Night' by Andrew Bird?

At this point, why bother slowly suffocating this department in a tortuous and lengthy fall from grace?

Just get it over with, and appoint Chance the Rapper or Ja’mal Green as the Supe and let them have what they want.
I’m done no matter who they pick anyways. It’s hard to possibly get more done at this point.

Bring an outsider in. Why not??

When you look at ALL the Exempt Staff that has been promoted by "Merit" - there is NOT that much real talent to pick from.

Leadership?? First of all, you have to know how to spell it.

That's whet happens when you promote garbage to the top - which is exactly what has been happening in the last 10+ years or so.

So don't complain - this is what the CPD has evolved to

The time to huddle and play "Nearer My god to thee" has long gone. The Hull has already cracked in two.

Will anyone in the media ask Groot why in the hell is the city wasting money paying the LA guy a big salary and for an expensive hotel and probably a car, to be an “interim Supt.” While Eddie is also still here? Just to hang out until Groot names a permanent Supt? What’s the point of this? Why not just have Eddie keep being Supt until the new Supt is picked? This is silly and a waste of money. Maybe Larri LightLoafer can use her super sharp diplomatic charm to recruit others from Kamala’s West Coast Restorative Justice Superstore. Heard The Gmac on The Mancow saying there’s no qualified applicants already on the CPD and would consider returning.
Gotta wonder if this interim experiment is going to be costly again, like the $350 per hour Ramsey Advisor deal Rahm crafted after launching The Gmac. Pricey bullshitters are a dime a dozen or +/- $270k per annum.
To wit; January 2016 -
“Commissioner Ramsey is a not only a national leader in urban policing who has led two major police departments through civil rights reforms - he is also a native Chicagoan who knows our police department and our communities. With roots in Englewood, he has a unique understanding of the important role community relationships play in making our city safer," Emanuel said.

"Commissioner Ramsey's return to the Chicago Police Department is an opportunity to build on the important work we are undertaking to restore trust between the Department and Chicago's residents," said Acting Chicago Police Superintendent John Escalante. "I look forward to relying on his counsel and leadership."

"We just want to engage the community even more and make them a partner of CPD," Eddie Johnson, chief of patrol for CPD.”

At today’s announcement, Cliff Claven was giving almost the same old ho-hum rehashed bs palaver all over again.
This blame police bs is getting old and the brainless forgetful dipshits of the FakeNews media are eating it up again.

Male or female, insider or outsider it doesn't matter, I will not trust anyone with a beard, mustache and other form of ornamental facial hair, and also applies to the short folk, the baldies and grown ups still using their “i, ie, and y” tot names and perhaps antique furniture too.

Under Police Chief Beck, the Los Angeles Police Department became the most murderous police department in the nation with 45 officer-involved-shootings and in-custody deaths in 2017.

Now Mayor Lightfoot is trying to bring him to Chicago.

I am not sure how many " changes" Beck can do in the interim or that it would be a smart move to make any radical changes since he will not get the permanent job. I see it more as many recommendations for restructuring and a replacement.

As far as taking the sergeant examination, I think a person would be a fool not to try for a promotion. I was a detective in violent crimes which I consider the best job in the department. You could make a lot in OT and if you invest wisely, really come out ahead. Making sergeant puts you back on the watch with no seniority for assignment or furlough. It is a tough choice. But, if you push a beat car, then I do not see a tough choice. Go for it.

As soon as someone starts the winning class action lawsuit regarding age, please post, as I will file on behalf of my late Dad who was forced out at 63 yoa. Even though useless baby richie left it alone until his buddy (townsend) decided to leave, even though that pos needed to be gone even b4 his fatass made 63, if I recall correctly he/it stayed as 1st dep. until he was 66.

It is a sad commentary that you cannot find one qualified individual on this entire department command staff who cannot lead the department on an interim basis until a replacement is found. It is not that nobody is qualified, it is all about groot's lack of trust of anyone on this department.

Not surprising. It is proof positive how incompetent the promotional process is here in Chicago. No one is qualified to lead.

BLM should concentrate on teaching the young black and brown not to kill one their own and also teach them the safest ways to conduct themselves when interacting with the police. Instead, BLM wants and creates confrontation, which solves nothing.

I agree that it sure looks like he was brought in to be the hatchet man.
Groot couldn’t trust Special Ed to make the necessary changes because: A) a lot of the incompetents were meritorious choices pushed by and approved by Ed and B) Ed’s sold his soul to too many people including the Black Caucus and that Black Caucus will likely get their panties in a bunch by some of the very necessary changes.

Whenever Special Ed parades out his “command” staff they come across looking like misfits.
What a joke.

There is no or never will be a winning lawsuit regarding age. It had to do with a federal law or amendment that required it to be stopped for a certain period of time. After the time the city had the option to continue or cancel it. The city chose to extend it until Townsend decided to retire
I’m sure you could find it thru a google search

I second DavidClarke for Supt. - Someone NOT afraid to call it like it is. Any Milwaukee Officers here who can back this?

Clarke would be a horrible choice. A pompous ass who has no real management skills. Quiet as it was kept, the Milwaukee Cty. Sheriff's Dept. was in chaos under Clarke. I believe he had 4 deaths in the cells in about a half year. One was especially horrifying, a mentally ill prisoner whose water was cut off in his cell. Seems no one thought to bring the guy any water...for week. They man died of dehydration. That's pretty fucked up. Oh, and a pregnant prisoner wound up giving birth to a stillborn child in her cell. Shit like that forced Clarke to resign/retire, before Governor Walker (at that time) was going to be forced to run him out of office before his term expired.
No, Clarke needs to stay wherever he is, doing what he does best...being a bootlicker for white conservatives. Chicago would chew him up and spit him out, and it would happen rather quickly.

Your prejudice is obvious. You do not like him because of his ability to traverse the divide, instead of being a hater. We need to move forward and leave the old baggage behind.
