Lesson Learned?

  • A teenage girl and 21-year-old woman were both arrested by Chicago police after the woman allegedly shot the teen who police said attempted to rob a dog from her on Friday.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Drake, 21-year-old Araceli Diaz met with a 14-year-old girl, intending to sell her a dog. The girl pulled out a BB gun, and said she was going to take the animal without paying for it. Diaz then pulled out a gun, striking the victim twice in the chest, police said.

Diaz was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Police said she had a Firearm Owners Identification card, but no Concealed Carry License. The 14-year-old girl was charged with felony attempted robbery.
Areceli ought to have finished the job properly, but we guess you can't have everything.

The worst part is that the dog died. Screw these assholes involved, the dog didn’t have a chance. That should be looked into as crimes against animals are taken more seriously in Cook County than crimes against people.

I really think Charlie Beck has realized Groot pulled
a fast one on him by this point. He regrets getting
into this mess. Furthermore he knows full well this
will all be documented into his career synopsis.
There's something to be said about going out on a

was born with a face that would always let him get

would be failing the brothers and sisters who have gone

Doesn't anyone in Chicago favor the Mozambique? Two to the chest, one to the forehead. How hard is that?
Can't the city send out "contact teams" to teach proper marksmanship and follow through? With just base line training; grip, site picture and follow through, I'll bet you could easily bring back 1000+ murders per year and less "unintended victims".

Araceli is a very common first name. I thought it was a
last name until I looked it up. "Miss Araceli" is mentioned
in the radio PSA for the GED program. So everytime I
hear that commercial I think of Eddie Johnson. All GED'ers
should be so lucky, or so famous. This one necessitated
a senior LA Chief packing his bags pronto for an executive
huddle. Like to have been a fly on that wall. Man, just
judging by the "contract" terms fed to the media, I can see
who held all the cards at that meeting. Paladin, West Point
graduate becomes gun for hire in San Francisco. You know,
Beck even looks like Paladin. Cut that 'stash in half and turn
up the ends. We like a good Western here in Chicago. I just
wish he didn't come with so much baggage. Wells Fargo
Stage Coach, man. And he only travels first class. Air,
hotels, meals, expenses. If you want the best you gotta
pay. Results? Of course I get results. Just look at my
spotless LA record.

Its always funny how Chicago's media always takes the side of the shitheads, saying she pulled out a BB gun like it was a matter of fact and that everyone knew it was a BB gun. When someone pulls out a gun, no one should be expected to spend time to carefully inspect the gun to see if it's real. You play stupid games you win stupid prizes. This 14 year is a candidate for this years Darwin award.

Now I never agreed with the countless times I have seen CONVICTED FELONS not being charged with Agg UUW because they were the "victim" of a crime and used a gun in self defense but they charge this woman who has a Foid but no CCL.
Hell, how many CCL shootings in self defense where they kill dude (and well deserved) but technically they were at a bus stop or bar where they are not allowed to have their weapon on them and they are not charged. I doubt she will ever get convicted but it's ridiculous to have two sets of rules.

Total bullshit. The woman wouldn't have had to draw her weapon if she wasn't being targeted by an armed robber. What if the kid had a real gun, which she didn't know anyway? What was she supposed to do? "Uh oh, I don't have a CCW, I better just let her shoot me/take the dog so I don't get into trouble"? Or what if she had a CCW but was in some arbitrary "no self-defense zone"?

THIS is the world we're living in, where good people are supposed to cower in fear while they're raped, literally and figuratively, in every possible way. THIS is what a boot stamping your head forever feels like. On the bright side, this is also how unconstitutional laws get knocked down. Happened here just a handful of years ago, maybe lightning will strike twice...

Come to think of it, FOID allows you to transport a gun, as long as it's "contained". And if you're transporting a "contained" firearm legally, and someone threatens your life, you'd be a moron not to defend yourself by retrieving said contained firearm. GOD I hope this lady gets off, for one, and I hope the NRA seizes on this to knock out a few of Illinois' more oppressive and unconstitutional gun laws that only hurt law-abiding citizens. Asinine that a victim of an aggravated robbery and battery should be facing ANY charges when all she did was defend her own life. Or maybe selling a dog is considered "provocative".

Yes, I agree. Meet right in the lobby. I sold my car and wanted payment by cashiers check. I arranged with my bank to make the exchange right in the bank . The bank customer service then was able to validate the check and ensure it was not counterfeit. A lo going on out there. On this "contained" workaround:
It has been argued in court that a bicyclist or pedestrian can transport a firearm but they still must comply with the law that requires the firearm and ammo to be separated. And not just unloaded with each in different pockets but the whole thing with the gun and ammo in separate cases etc.

Somehow I doubt the dog seller was carrying the weapon in this manner and was able to shoot the would be dog thief.
