- A Chicago man who was hospitalized after being slammed to the ground by a police officer Thursday is facing an aggravated battery charge, according to police.
Bernard Kersh, 29, is charged with one count of aggravated battery of a peace officer. He's also facing misdemeanor charges for assault, resisting arrest and drinking alcohol in public.
And it turns out he has a history of assaulting the police. We'd bet actual money instead of toothpicks he's been bucking for some sort of payout....and he might have gotten what he was looking for.

- Police are automatically assumed to be guilty of all manner of misconduct until such time as they can prove their innocence via video;
- If video doesn't exist, it's a cover-up;
- If anyone is injured or claims injury, the police did it;
- If the video looks even slightly questionable, someone is getting stripped;
- If anything can be interpreted in the worst possible light, assume it will be, not just by plaintiff attorneys, but by Crimesha's office, the COPA office and any politician looking to score quick points - like Groot.
The above bullet-points turn the entire system of American jurisprudence on its head, but that is exactly the world we are living in right now in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois along with countless other liberal shitholes.

A slightly different scenario with some of the same elements. Cozzi hit his guy with an unauthorized weapon and didn't report it and may have lied about it to investigators afterwords (I forget exactly about the last part). Not bashing him because him serving all that time in prison was a sick joke. I just don't see this copper doing any prison time. They charged the goof with agg batt so I'm guessing the camera footage don't lie. Unfortunately, in this day and age I can see him losing his job though, or at least getting a hefty suspension.
He probably would have been better off delivering an open hand strike or even a punch first instead of slamming him like he did. That's what I would have done. Not because I'm any better then him, but because I'm not a fan of wrestling or grappling with a guy unless my partner or back up is right there. * Officers on view man drinkIng alcoholic beverage on Public way = Probable cause for stop, MCC violation
* Officer spat upon, Offender turned into Assailant= Officer uses lowest level of force by means of emergency takedown to subdue offender and take him into custody.
* Officers upon taking offender into custody call for an ambulance to render aid for offender and CFD transport offender for medical aid= Officers maintaining sanctity of human life
* Supervisor arrives on scene and bwc captures two separate witness statements confirming Officers account of incident
* Surveillance video from storefront captured incident and validates Officers account of incident.
* Alcoholic beverage recovered on scene and inventoried per CPD policy
* Paperwork completed, States Attorneys office reviews case and deems sufficient evidence to pursue felony charges in cook county
Now given the above you would think this is a great case for the Officer and that everything would be ok but not even close. So let’s review what happened next:
* Random citizen video tapes the body slam and on the original Facebook post shows the Officer take offender to the ground, his partner come over to assist and then shows spat upon Officer wiping the spit from his face. Does not show anything more or any extra punches, kicks or any further use of force.
* Anit-police news media gets the video and spins it as Officer beats innocent citizen up for nothing
* Officer is stripped by 1730hrs the following day less the 26hrs after initial incident on the recommendation of COPA, the Mayors Office, and the Police Department concurred with the recommendation.
* No statement from FOP defending the Officer that I am aware of, No FOIA of bwc footage to be released the media,
It is now time for all police work in the city to end by way of nothing more then what is required by calls for service. Furthermore it is time that the FOP take a stand for its Officers, Publicly defending its members when being wrongfully prosecuted and start going after the members of COPA and the City. Furthermore it is high time we as the Police stand against the FOP as well, demanding that they take a stand and do what we pay them to do, instead of collecting large checks and do nothing.

Have you checked the price of live trees this season?
Almost makes you want to buy a fake and have your
accountant depreciate it over 4 or 5 years.
Effect from the 08/09 recession. Tree farmers made less that year so they had less $ to plant the next year to replace. Blame Obama. Luckily in Trumps America the tree farms will always be full!

You're probably the officer who claims CPD units are all phone call based assignments. I tested with over 30 suburban departments before I was offered a position. I failed poly's, medicals, and interviews but didn't give up. Keep on pushing to the next. I did 4 years and jumped ship to CPD. No phone call or Mayor daddy to help me in any department. I'm in a unit and life is good. In the burbs I'd still be pushing the beat car for another 20+ years, at CPD I'm basically retired.
