You think someone would have reached out to this guy, just as a matter of common decency:
- Jean-Paul LaPierre would like a little love. It’s been nearly three months since the Boston-area man disarmed a gunman who was robbing passengers on a CTA Blue Line train. (Video of the incident went viral.) And he still hasn’t received a “thank you” from anyone at the mayor’s office, the police department or the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.
“For a guy like me — I was a drug addict who lived under a bridge for part of my 20s before I got my life back together — so for a guy like me that’s huge,” said LaPierre, 54, who called the Sun-Times to vent. “Recognition confirms for me that I made the right decisions, and I am trying live a good life ... that I’m on the right path,” he said, adding, after a long pause: “It makes up for what I screwed up.”
But thanking him would mean admitting a few uncomfortable facts:
- crime is rampant on the CTA;
- even a million cameras aren't going to stop crime;
- neither will a million "No Guns Allowed" signs;
- the Transit Unit is so chronically mismanaged with "merit" picks that disbanding it and starting over is the only real option at this point
But if it makes a difference, Thank You Mr. LaPierre. You did good.

While we are talking about thankless. Two time merit promoted, LT Spradley, sent out a text message to all the SGTs in area south saturation. The numbers in area south sat have been dwindling for a couple years now. I personally would like to thank the current fraternity brother administration that took over. I’ve never seen so many empty lockers. Same unit that was micro managed by that in house admin sgt glob of shit Franklin Paz Who was meritoriously promoted by the sleepiest of all fraternity brothers.......drowsy Elgin holt. two time merit Spradley was pissed and sent a text message to all sgts bitching about officers and how they are leaving without telling him. And how it will bite them in the ass later on. And if they leave, good! He doesn’t need them!......what a bitch. Merit Incompetence on top of merit incompetence on top of merit incompetence. Same office that put a brick on anyone who wanted to leave for the past two years in order to keep people. The only way to get out was to keep your mouth shut and wait it out hoping you’ll be on the transfer order soon.
A couple weeks ago, prior sgt exam Spradley was telling everyone how hard he studied for all the promotional tests and giving his advice how we should study. real motivating shit! This coming from a two time merit joke. WTF is wrong with these self entitled assholes. If I beat the system like these assholes did, I would just hang low. If you're a 54 year old man, and you reach out to a newspaper to tell them how you need recognition from some government entity, for a good deed you did, there's something wrong with you. Great job taking a stand and protecting people from a dangerous criminal, and getting yourself some recognition in the media. Be happy with that though and move on, especially in this fucked up shithole of a city. You need a corrupt politician or some appointed police boss to give you a pat on the back? Seems more like he's looking for a payday. Do good deeds because it's the right thing to do, not for publicity or thanks. And don't cry to the media about not getting the recognition you think you deserve. It tarnishes the good you did. But yes, one of the clowns should have offered some public thanks for this act.

Hold up— let’s take this back to the 1990s dictionary—
1. Homeless — legitimately person with out a home. Likely due to mental impairments...
2. Drug addict — maybe a dope head, crack head, smack head, hype, junkie piece of shit; but has drug issues rather than legitimately homelessness
3. Bum — person too lazy to work, maybe an non functional alcoholic. Not legit homelessness. Of all these people I feel bad for only the homeless. So far in my life I have several people go from being homeless to getting into section 8 housing or hud. Mainly our veterans are the ones I have helped.
For some reason these hand merged to all these people are now classified as homeless

Loris, Kim and fat ass Pritzker are only interested in protecting the rights of criminals and not citizens. By acknowledging his bravery the permanent victim class would be unhappy. The transit unit has always been mismanaged and a party unit. For years the tact teams used to spend most of their time at a private social club. It is rare to see a uniform on the trains, very rare indeed to see any at all in the stations. I say bring back the CTA police department. They knew what they were doing.

a newly promoted lieutenant came to 007 and told people she was there to be the eventual watch commander. She had a photo of her lieutenant's " study group" posted on her locker. Every one in the photo was a merit promotee. This knowledgeable lieutenant went on to become a field deputy. It was pretty funny and her lack of common sense and knowledge of department policy was also pretty funny. Yes, they actually think they deserve the promotion and that they are smarter then others. The politics has ruined the department and has crushed morale.

I love Spradley stories. They make me laugh. Merit Sgt. Spent two minutes on the street then went to CAPS. Two minutes there, promoted to Merit Lt. What a mess CPD has become.
Mr. LaPierre needs to get on with his life. You did good, likely saved a life. If you need that much adoration and a pat on the back, become a priest!

as a citizen I chased down and dragged back (by the scruffs of their hoodies) two armed "teens" that tried to carjack an elderly lady in a parking lot. The teens admitted what they did, showed the LEOs where they later threw her keys, yet the democrat activist judge dropped all charges as the LEOs couldn't prove there was a gun (they ditched it tho everyone saw it).
The DA was furious (this wasn't in democrat ran shitcago) and told me to take this to the media as this judge does this all the time. I did and none of the media were interested in this as the teens were correct in complexion.
So to put it on record, I called the PD and asked if there would be a letter of commendation for an incident he had no idea about. I later got it (and made sure another guy got one that I handed a teen off to when bringing them back). Don't remember who signed it, but I do remember it wasn't signed by the democrat mayor.
The other gentleman probably still has his somewhere and is proud of it.
I long ago lost mine as I don't care and moved away from that democrat ran sanctuary city, lamenting how stupid I was to intervene with 16 year olds with an illegal gun while I was only armed with a pocket knife due to me abiding by the laws....then to have them let go.

Weekends? I work construction downtown. It was standing room only at 5am from Jefferson Park. You couldn't even walk to a different car, the aisles were completely blocked. I got off at Montrose and got on another car further up that was just as bad. I can't imagine how bad it was for the 8am rush.

He's no stranger to getting involved or being at the right place at the right time. A few years ago he helped rescue a one-year-old baby who was trapped in a crashed car. And this last summer he was the one who tracked down an escaped python. He probably got more love in those two incidents. The python remind of Groot, but taller. Can't expect much from corrupt Crook County and Chicago.
If you guys post a P.O. box where I can send a thank you letter, I will. He did a good and amazing thing.
