Nice CTA Groot

  • Three people were shot, one fatally, in a CTA pedestrian tunnel downtown overnight, police said. No one is in custody.

Just after 2 a.m. Monday, a witness flagged down police to report shots fired in the pedestrian tunnel that connects the Blue Line and Red Line at Jackson.

Officers responded to the scene and found two men unconscious with gunshot wounds, according to initial reports.

Medical personnel pronounced one victim dead at the scene. He was shot in the stomach and chest, according to CPD. The other man is in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with gunshots to his head and arm, police said.
At some point, you have to make a change, if only for the express purpose of looking like you're doing something.

That time has long since passed for Mass Transit. Our readers have provided numerous examples of general incompetence on a daily basis, but because the people running the place are wives, girlfriends, pin-cushions of bosses, they're allowed to stack up a body count, even get blasted at CompStat, and not a single consequence is handed out.

And the dead guy . . . was wearing, yes, a bullet proof vest. Must have been beyond its expiration date, as was he, because it sure didn't work. Oh, let's not forget about all the little baggies that were scattered about. Shootings, drug dealing, robberies, beatings, the CTA has become a carnival ride from hell.

I would like a journalist in Chicago to seriously ask the mayor this question:
Imagine 20 years from now if you and your daughter Vivian were enjoying a beautiful summer day down at Navy Pier. As the two of you walk you are holding her hand when you hear a loud bang. Suddenly your daughter falls to the ground. You see the shock and fear in her eyes as she tells you she thinks she has been shot. Two hours later at Cook County Hospital doctors tell you they are sorry but your daughter is dead. You later find out it was an illegal alien. He waould have been deported by ICE but sanctuary city laws prevented that from happening. How would you feel?! Because that's what happened in 2015 when Kate Steinle was murdered in July as she walked arm in arm with her father, Jim, and friend, Frances Williams. Mayor Lightfoot, you and the rest of the politicians here in Illinois are hypocrites. You pretend to care about the safety of the citizens. You say Chicago must do better. Then you endorse a States attorney who refuses to put dangerous felons in jail. You embrace Sanctuary city laws which allow felons to remain free. You are nothing but a fraud who will pander to whatever will keep you in office. You have blood on your hands.

I’m sure the transit officers were sitting up on street level doing nothing. And then when the shooting occurred, probably stayed on street level and kindly pointed the beat cars in the right direction where the beat car handled the paper. Dump every one from mass transit, and bring in people who are willing to at least do paper for incidents that happen on CTA. They’re all fucking useless.

The answer is the new detail in which every district is giving up 2 or 3 coppers who will patrol the cta. Nobody in their right mind would volunteer for this bullshit so it will be filled thru reverse seniority. That means a bunch of fresh faced new kids who know nothing will be in the tubes or on the elevated structures playing the police. Mass Transit is a retirement spot when it should be an extremely active unit. Old timers ruined the unit. As did the bosses there. But let’s stop blaming only the police for crime. Crime happens because criminals choose to commit crimes. We can only blame the police and different units so much for their response to crime patterns but not for the crime itself.

The trr, ISR's, and bwc makes proactive policing impossible. Remember every incident on the train requires a evacuation of the car, notification of the car # for camera activation, establishing a zone of safety, requesting a CIT officer, and the use of time as a tactic.

Pathetic, when you follow the GO's.

First of all Einstein, Mass Transit can only do so so much with the minimal man power that they have assigned to that unit. The hell with what the pencil pushers say that their numbers are. It's basic math, you can't do more with less when you have an area the size of the Chicago Transit System to cover. It's simply ridiculous. For example, if you have only one unit covering the Red line south( Cermak to 95th.) during the afternoon when the school lets out and you have another unit posted at 55th/Garfield , and there's a battery in progress or robbery at 69th and the Red line. How is that Mass Transit's fault ? The guitar player that was stabbed by a female on the platform was no more the responsibility of Mass Transit, than a shooting victim in the districts. If that offender was going to committ that crime , the crime was going to be committed whether a cop was present or not. Mass Transit needs a minimum of at least 60-80 assigned officers, with at least 20-25 going to 1st watch. Additionally, the 1st watch Sergeants do a good job managing with the limited resources that they have. Hell, they have to log the two cars for Special Employment ( which might be on opposite sides of town), try and respond to in progress calls or calls for a Supervisor by a citizen, log the other remaining units that are along the transit line within the boundary or the Chicago Transit System , make required notifications as well as other responsibilities. The city needs to open up 1st watch special employment back to at least 12 officers, so that there can be at least 6 more units to cover the red and blue lines overnight.Every little bit helps, as a matter of fact, more officers should be able to work all 3 watches for special employment. We need more MANPOWER to cover the assignments, to all of you hypocritical "want to be go getters ". Stay fetal, stay fetal, all that B.S. S(ugar)H(oney)I(ce)T(ea) that is constantly being mentioned. However, when there's a legitimate manpower issue, mofos are quick to point blame or fingers at others when they don't want to do their job. Oh yeah, for all you readers that have a low or slow comprehension level, look up the word " Support ". Read it, study it, memorize it, say out loud, ok . It's called a support unit for a reason! Unit 701 does make arrests, issue ANOVS ,ride the transit lines ; however with limited manpower within the unit, Hell on the job , there's only so much that can be done. Stop promoting all of these upper level duplicate responsibility bosses and focus on more promoting and training more front line supervisors, and hiring more cops. Make the job more appealing, dump the residency requirement or add a outer mileage boundary or something.Lastly, I know there will be more than enough critics, haters, etc.. that will respond to my post. So what, have at it, I still want everyone to go home safely and watch each others back, Blue looks out for Blue !

The CTA Police Force was very small. They should have a designated Transit Police Department that numbers at least 1000 officers. It's quite obvious that what is being done isn't working. Of course the communerty will then be up in arms because of over policing. In addition with Crimesha in charge there will continue to be a catch and release policy. At this point the best option will be to move far m, far away. Even McJersey was shocked at the small size of the transit unit.

I’m at that stage in my career. I only have 3 years on.
I love being a police officer but when everything we do is over scrutinized and a mistake can cost you your career
Even if it’s an accidental-honest mistake. We are not believable anymore. No human being deserves to be scrutinized the way we are.
My buddy he’s not a cop even told me if people were over scrutinized in every job a lot of people would lose there job.

I believe that is the goal of the city-copa is to fire as many cops as they can
That way it’s saves on the pension payment.
Make it a revolving door.
They want a good 3-5 years out of you being proactive until you realize that the more contact with the public the higher the change you have of Lossing your job. Then the mistakes you made when you were proactive will be brought to light before you make it to being vested into the pension.

If you work special employment CTA with someone from a unit outside of Mass Transit, you do your checks, mill around the platforms, answer jobs, etc. You are seen. If you happen to end up with a 701 regular, they won’t even get out of the car to swipe...I was told by one regular 701, “no one checks that.” Also never understood the reason for detailing a special employment CTA unit to be stationary at 95th Street when there is a fixed car there that never leaves their hideout. The only reason for that would be those guys are being taken care of to do absolutely nothing.

I lived in a few European cities in the 90s. We took the trains, drunk, everywhere. It was great. There was barely a police presence. People generally "policed" themselves. Even in the Ukraine where people were DIRT poor, there wasn't a lot of crime, just drunks getting hammered and singing down there. They had little Hooch bars(it is warm). How the hell can you run a city without a safe transportation system? Can't Kim Foxx use her "Ghetto Pass" and convince some of those people to police themselves a little?

Didn't even have lights on the cars (only flashing headlights guys put in themselves) until the last year before they were disbanded. Absolute clout job. Nobody got it that wasn't heavy as shit.
