Little Village Shooting
- A man was shot by Chicago police Sunday after shooting at two officers who tried to stop him on the street in Little Village on the Southwest Side, according to police.
Police officers tried to stop the man about 3:15 p.m. in the 2100 block of South Washtenaw Avenue when they saw him “acting suspiciously and walking,” holding something by his side, Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Fred Waller told reporters at the crime scene.
The officers got out of their vehicle and tried to talk to the man, but he immediately ran off and fired “numerous” shots at the police, Waller said. The officers followed and one returned fire, striking the man in his shoulder and leg, but he kept running.
Police found the man behind a home in the 2100 block of South California Avenue and applied a tourniquet, police said. A gun was also recovered from a nearby garage.

Waste of a perfectly good tourniquet
I used to carry a clean white sock with me all the time. I used it as something to cover a wound, tie off a limb, etc. The last words I would tell the victim were: Keep the sock dude.

At least this one went well, no police injured. Good thing he ran off and the officers didn't have to wrestle with him. Who knows how that would have turned out.

Why the FUCK are these guys giving medical aid to the guy who just tried to kill them? Anything beyond "bad guy is shot send an ambulance" is unbelievable!!!! So glad I'm gone...it's a completely different place .

That was a wonderful thing they did, saving the person that shot at them. Just think the next time he shoots at the police (and there will be a next time) he may fatally wound an officer. How wonderful will that be for the officer’s family. So take your tourniquet skills and shove them up your ass.
This exact scenario is why I'm so against MANDATORY lemart training! Prior to being trained you could have just stood there after finding this piece of shit, radioed for CFD and waited for him to hopefully bleed out. At the inevitable trial for your job, when the lawyers asked "why didn't you render medical aid" the answer wouldve been "I'm not a paramedic, I don't have medical training". End of story. Now because these stupid fucks forced us to get lemart "certified" we're all in the trick bag FORCED to render aid in a situation where I personally want the piece of shit to die after shooting at me or fellow officers. The lemart trainers talk a good game, it's great training that I'm glad I got if I ever need it for GOOD people, but by default, now I'm legally obligated to try to save the life of someone who just tried to take mine. What a pile of shit. If anyone is in the same situation, being lemart trained, and you DON'T take action then they'll crucify you for not acting even though "you are medically trained to save his life, why didn't you?!?"
Forced training is the biggest crock of shit on this job. It puts US in more positions of responsibility that potentially gets us in deeper trouble. All this training is just to cover the city's ass when we F up. Let's see, we're supposed to be Marksmen when we need to shoot, Social workers when dealing with kids, Psychiatrists when dealing with mentals, Office clerical workers when writing reports, MMA fighters when dude fights, and of course now we're supposed to be Medical professionals with 1 day of lemart training. Are they going to arm and cross-train all the firemen and paramedics "just in case" they need to shoot someone?? Of course not. Their training sticks to firefighting while CPD piles on more and more training expecting us to do more and more while scrutinizing every fucking move and mistake we make with a magnifying glass. Hey CPD, you can take all your CYA training and shove it up your collective asses. If I'm faced with saving the life of dude who shot at me, I'm going to "make it look good" on bwc, with alot of encouraging words, expect me to break down in a crying rage, it will take countless on-scene officers to console me. "Why God! Why God did this fine young man FORCE me to shoot at him?!? WHY?? GOD please let him live!!" ALL ON CAMERA... But really? I hope the piece of shit dies and rots in hell. Retirement on the horizon and can't wait to distance myself from this "New direction" of police work. This city is a fucking war zone. The shitheads we deal with on a daily basis don't deserve the results of higher caliber training, they deserve the necessary level of force to keep them in line. Violence and force is what criminals understand and you have taken away that ability from us and now the city is paying the price for messing with the finely tuned symbiotic relationship between CPD and the criminal element that used to exist. ACLU, COPA, CITY HALL, CALEA, Court of public opinion....Too many cooks in the kitchen. Everyone back away, turn a blind eye, end lawsuits, Cr's etc... give CPD a year with the gloves off and you'd see how we could reduce crime. I know this will never happen. CPD will never be able to operate the way it did when it actually worked. So in the meantime I'll just go back to waiting to be forced to save the life of another gangbanger who shoots at police.

Funny thing is right after the offender and the officer clear the block where the offender shot at the officers, some locals came out and policed up the offender's fired cartridges, no doubt to keep our city clean!!!!

To those who've left the job in recent years, the dept. is FORCING everyone to take LEMART training, which among other things, emphasizes tourniquet applications. They try to hammer home that the training is there to help us save ourselves and/or our fellow officers. The training is great, and I dont argue with the possibility of having to use it for good people. HOWEVER... by FORCING us to take the training, the dept has basically taken away any free will we had to NOT save shithead. Of course, you could still stand there and let dude bleed out, but when the lawsuit comes and the lawyers find out you stood by & didn't attempt to save his life with your dept. provided superior training, you are Fucked! You're a murderer!! Same thing with the Narcan... at least that's optional (for now) Why should I choose to save the life of a hype who chose to sink into the life of drug
We all make choices in life. I chose the straight & narrow, to become a cop, I try to do the right thing but nowadays if I make a mistake, the consequences are FAR more severe than for a member of the general public. I'll get fired, maybe prison, multiple agencies analyzing every move I make, it's like walking a tightrope every tour. Criminals chose the life they did. They know the consequences. Shoot at the police and you get shot in the process?? You AND SOCIETY! should expect you to die where you drop. Now "IF" an officer CHOOSES to try to save your life (Despite my tirade, I'm not saying I might not try to save a life) then that should be the officers CHOICE. Unfortunately the department has taken that choice away from us with any FORCED training. Don't do anything and you go to prison for not using your training. Do something and dude dies anyway? "You didn't use your training properly" still your fault, now PAY UP! And to all those lemart guys and bosses quoting "Blah blah, Illinois law identifies you under the good samaritan law, blah blah" Bull Fucking Shit. Have you ever been sued?? When, despite all the facts pointing to "NO CASE" a federal judge states " I believe this young man deserves to be heard in court" (A career drug dealer mind you) then you can take that good samaritan law and wipe your ass with it. This is cook county, we have liberal judges and juries and I will BET you that despite whatever attempt you make to save shitheads life, if he dies, YOU WILL BE SUED and that samaritan law will be thrown out the window because "The poor boys family deserves to know the whole truth of what happened" and when momma is crying on that stand, I GUARANTEE you that jury will find you guilty of failing to save his life AFTER you shot him because you messed up your attempt. “Have you ever been sued?”.........Justice is expensive......muttman’s free social justice atty files and you are no w looking at $500/hr. They will jam you up looking for the “settlement “. You on the other hand will wind up with paying $150k-$250 in atty fees not counting the jury award.
