- Overall crime in Chicago decreased in February 2020 compared to the same month last year despite an eruption of gun violence, according to statistics released by Chicago police.
Murders and shootings reported last month in Chicago were up from February 2019, police said in a statement Sunday. The 34 homicides reported in February were a 41% increase from the 24 reported the same month last year, while the 137 shooting incidents were a 25% increase compared to 109 in 2019.
So far in 2020, 68 murders were recorded in Chicago, police said. The number of shooting incidents came in at 274, with a total of 325 victims.
Murders were up. Shootings were up. Gun seizures were up.
But burglaries and robberies were down?
The media isn't even remotely curious about why Burglaries and Robberies are classified as Property Crimes some months and Violent Crimes other months? Or maybe why Burglaries are downgraded to Thefts depending on what direction Groot needs the crime stats to read? Why Beck and Groot are making a massive deployment to CTA stations and platforms if robberies are down?
We joked years ago that future generations were going to "owe" crime to the past because with the constant 3% here and 3% there, crime would be out of existence by the time we got close to retirement. Once upon a time, the media worked in this town. But we guess that was long ago.

That’s because being a “professional journalist” often times means regurgitating press releases as original reporting and original reporting and collecting facts is something that “some guys do in their pajamas.” It’s an upside down world.
CWB is worth throwing a few bucks their way. I subscribe at $50 a year and feel like it’s worth it just for the data.

So actually there is a 16% discrepancy between the department and the truth. I knew they were reporting all crime in the negative. Keep believe all the BS they are reporting. In the end when Chicago is destroyed the media can look in the mirror with the politicians and say we did it.
I don’t care what numbers they are putting out. The crime is way to high for way to long. How long does anyone think the city can sustain these high levels of crime. The city is truly going under. If anyone thinks things are going good they are delusional. We are at a negative growth and crime will be the steak in the hart that finally gets the job down. Death of a city!

Maybe this is part of the taxes, taxes, and more taxes that is working on lowering crime! We know people are moving out of the state as well as business and industry! Maybe there's nothing left to steal. Of course for the money they are charging for legal weed I predict property crimes may rise to allow weed-eaters to buy more!

The lies continue from each administration and nobody even cares. It’s really amazing that the Sun Times just is another part of the City driven media machine. Last night on the news they stated shootings were up 40% yet thefts were down 3%. Wow what a success. It show us that being fetal works. Smile and wave, its what they want.
Don't be silly. As Groot will tell you the difference in the stats from 2019 and 2020 is due to this February being a "Leap Year." That pesky 29th day of the month caused the spike in crimes.
It is happened before they downgraded crime they had the statistics remember it’s an election year they’re trying to get more and more democratics anti-police mantra people elected.
And not one media picked up the Boystown report or stories. I wonder why?

Also Baltimore will be taking over for murder capital. For the first two month this year they have 50 murders, we have like 75. But we have about 4 times the population. Guess it could be worse if we were in Baltimore
