I recently called 311 to report a hit and run accident I was finally connected to a human being after 34 minutes and was told by the uninterested individual that I had to go to a station to report the incident.

No wonder crime is way down if this is NORMAL!

Remembering a night when Roosevelt/Ashland projects went up. Working midnights, no roll call, in cars asap for 3rd watch backup. The SGT got on the air & said he wanted the midnights to meet him in out front. As we are headed there he is doing a 3rd watch rollcall on air, telling them to meet up with him NOW. Once all of 3rd watch was accounted for, he order midnights to go & stay south of 18th or North of Taylor. All 3rd watch is to go in for checkoff. All done over the air. Such a class act.

It’s true.

It’s worse than a participation trophy. At least a participation trophy gets handed to you. I’m sure this Dept will send 100 ribbons to the district that employs 300+ and you will be told, “we ran out. I’m sure you can just buy your own.”

Gtfoh.

Yes. Good job to the officers who are actually out there on the street working. Not just units or teams but the beat cars who work answering jobs, doing paper and riding on jobs. To the units and teams who work locking people up and doing stops than you and good work. To the mutts who do zero. Sit on it and spin. Thieves and oxygen wasters. Have some pride and actually earn your money and teach your kids to work for a living and if your going to do something then be good at it and be proud of an actual hard days work.

Seriously....Is this supposed to boost Morale...? Is that all they have? Was it really necessary to bring this out right now? This is the epitome of anti-climactic. Some people really had to work on this during a major crisis? This is essential business? How about that they wait until this CV-19 thing is over and add a "survivors" ribbon as well? The crime stats will read down next year when the tallies are made. Will they re-issue the ribbon 2.0?

Now, where are our PPE kits, and N-95 face masks??

Guess nobody closed the automated award machine after Jugghead left the building.

Crime is down for politics and elections.
Crime is up for gubmint grants money.
Murder tallies were over 500 for the past 4 years (2016-19) all on the strategic direction of DrRev Jugghaid SpecialEd Phd.

Pool all that shit together - that’s how democrats flatten curves, or when to highlight disproportion and disparity, heighten the curve.
Easy crime reduction is to knock down as many felony UCR Index Part One Offenses to NON-Index crimes.
The city definition and use of the term property crime is likely being redefined. Certainly not a jail-able offense.
Agg Batts/Asslt knocked down to Simples.
When was the last PSMV ? The last Arson?
Theft and Burglary are the last Index crimes still standing (reporting is not charging).

Larri has been saying lately crime and violence is a health crisis.
Why not blame the health professionals for not during enough vaccinating?
When Lari & JBee Pigfluenza decide when it’s politically best for them to cure this Covid’s there will be another blanket award coming.

I spent all of 2019 pushing a beat car on a watch in a district in a day off group and didn’t get any lawsuits, indictments or CRs. I wrote hundreds of reports, responded to all of my calls and was completely professional and courteous when dealing with citizens.

That said, for the first time in 20 years, I did ZERO, that’s right, ZERO proactive police work due to the handcuffs placed upon me by these disastrous politicians that have taken the ability to fight crime away from me.

I will wear this award proudly as my 2019 STAY FETAL AWARD!!!!!!

Isn't 011 designated as a "UNIT" per EVERY
Chicago Police Department organizational chart
since 1960?

Oh wait.

You must mean "UNIT" in the special, clouted, phone call basis,
non-inclusive of Patrol, jumped-in,greased-up, membership by
ingestion/injection/gestation iteration of the word...

Right?

Do you stand in the mirror and actually
practice being a dunce or does it just
come naturally?

Or have you ever bothered actually reading

I am old retired guy who came on the job in white pants stripe days in the 60's. The desk crews then and all the way to my retirement have blown people off and given them bad advice. They do everything they can to avoid writing that report for God only knows. They send the citizen to other districts, other jurisdictions, refuse to write a report etc. Seems nothing has changed When I was the WC I had a desk sergeant who would bond out traffic violators who did not have any ID or who were obviously lying. I had him toss those liars in the lockup to be printed. Both the desk sergeant and lockup keeper had a fit. Tough

Obviously not a cop or less than 10yrs on. The sarcasm is lost. I actually have several, though I've only ever actually received 2. Someone at my unit and district clearly "redistributed" them. Also, I laugh knowing some have received dept commendation awards for programs like creating the ISR app hahaha never on the street or got their feet wet but awards for desk jockeying! that's why we laugh

Wait. By January of 2021 everyone who worked through this virus will be getting a ribbon, just like WTO, NATO, etc.

Remember when 011 was put in for a Unit Meritorious
Performance Award sometime back in the 90's for a
bigly year over year crime reduction?

It was quashed by CPD HQ...

"We don't give the UMA to those peons in Patrol"

I hate to break it to you, Inspector Clouseau. But it is called the "UNIT" Meritorious Award.

Well gee Wally, I just don't get it. Whenever I complete a report, and there s a box for "Unit of assignment" I put down 011th District.

OT

SWAT thrown out of O’Hare for being goofs. No more OT. Some dumb ass on SWAP was walking around the airport wearing his gas mask. Travelers were scared shitless. Another SWAP decided to walk around wearing a hoodie, with a gun exposed and no POLICE markings. Travelers began to freak out and called the police. Those goofs bring attention to themselves. Good riddance.

I’m just here to read more comments blasting the Special One who thinks Districts aren’t Units. Carry on.

I hate to break it to you, but districts are also "units." For example, the first district is Unit 001. Districts have been awarded Unit Meritorious Awards before. Nice try at being the smart guy though. I'm guessing you got to your "unit" with a phone call.

4/10/2020 07:24:00 AM

Not the original poster and not being an asshole, but which district(s) and for what? Just curious.

Bravo for telling Mr. Douchebag off. Only he is good enough to be in a unit and get that phoney award. Us district grunts, the backbone of the department mind you, shouldn’t even think of getting that award. How dare us, the unwashed masses.

Could it be you never spent much time assigned to a district, and therefore wouldn’t know districts are units of assignment?
I bet you never had a bad day on the job also. F-ing primadonna, but you are good boss material, tool.

Old timer with the buffalo buster "wheel gun", times have changed. Throwing tvb's into the greybar hotel and letting them sweat for 8 hours is bad mojo. They all have to go to the hospital because their feelings are hurt and they have the sniffles. Much easier to write them a stack of movers, give them an i-bond, and impound the hoopty. You are 100 percent right but the game has totally changed.

another way to flatten the crime rate, change reckless discharges in case management down to found property on shots fired calls.

In the US Army, Personal Decorations are worn on LEFT, above pocket flap; UNIT Decorations (e.g., Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Distinguished Unit Citation) are worn on RIGHT, above pocket flap.

And in checking, the 192 people department wide that didn't go on the medical in the last 3 years got their award, too. I think these are online only now; didnt get a star for my ribbon last time, and I dont expect to get one this time.
Dont worry, I don't wear them, so no need to get your undies in a bunch about me talking about it, really don't care. I just love how they don't follow their own rules for issuance.
