Liquor Store Curfew
- Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced the city will implement a new 9 p.m. curfew for liquor sales Wednesday, saying the measure is necessary to prevent people from violating the state's stay-at-home order.
The 9 p.m. curfew on liquor sales will go into effect on April 9 and will remain in place throughout the duration of the stay-at-home order, according to a statement from the city. Potential penalties for violating the curfew include a $500 fine, arrest and revocation of liquor and other licenses.
Groot claims she's been breaking up gatherings wherever she sees them - we're assuming with a billy club, attack dogs and fire hoses:

Thankfully, she wasn't harmed while confronting groups of thirty, forty, fifty and more....as has been common the past few nights on the south side. We suppose the groups recognize her by her snazzy new haircut.

So she is disturbed by people congregating. I believe they said she toured the 50th ward the other. Not too much going on there. She needs to get a vest and ride with the police in the fast districts without all her entourage, the advance people, the police bosses, the yes people. She should see it person and absorb the flavor of each area of the city if she is going to rule over it. Nothing like seeing it in person rather than hearing it from layers of bureaucrats that throw their spin on it. If you are going to tell people how to do their job you need to have either done the job or have first hand experience along side with somebody that does the job. This is why the CPD is so screwed up. I could probably read up on the position of a stationary engineer does this qualify me to tell them how to do their job unless I shadowed them for a period of time and experienced what they do.

Back about 2005 I lived in the Atlanta metro area. At the time, in the Buckhead area of Atlanta there were/are a lot of restaurants and bars with a 4:00 a.m closing time. As a radio show host in Atlanta once said, "Nothing good happens after midnight." In Buckhead there were a large number of fights and shootings as bars closed at 4:00 a.m. and people spilled out onto the streets. In a effort to curb these problems it was proposed to close the bars and restaurants at 2:00 a.m. What pass for aldermen in Atlanta were opposed to the early closing of bars because it disproportionately affected the black community. Is the mayor doing the same thing here?

Her and the new Supe need to do ride alongs in 011, 006. 003, etc. and do it not under the guise as the “Mayor” or the “Superintendent”, but with anonymity to see what the patrol officers face on a day to day basis. Driving home last night around 12:30 am, saw a couple of fine citizens walking with nice cold 40 oz from the gas station convenience store at 79th & the Expressway. It’s nice too that they were going into the Red Line station. I’m sure they were headed to their jobs as ER doctors fighting COVID-19 or something. Guess someone didn’t get the memo.
This is so racist, the only liquor stores open late are in the black neighborhoods, she is targeting black neighborhoods.

Since you are being questioned as a criminal suspect, isn't the officer required to advise you of your Miranda Rights? Since whatever you say will determine if you are arrested and admitted against you. So you have the right to remain silent.

I love the fact that liquor stores have to shut down their business at 9pm, I honestly that this practice should continue with a 9pm durning the week and 10pm on weekends. Can you imagine the drop in crime if this happened. I drove thru Englewood at 10pm and halstead was like a ghost town compared to last week
