Firefighter Passes

  • The first Chicago firefighter has died from the coronavirus, officials said Tuesday night.

Mario Araujo, 49, worked in the Rogers Park neighborhood for more than 16 years.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford wrote on Twitter that Araujo joined the department in October 2003 and spent most of his career at Truck 25.

Fire Department Commissioner Richard Ford released a statement saying the “tragic loss underscores the seriousness that we face as a city and a nation.”

“CFD members put themselves in harm’s way without hesitation to selflessly uphold the oath they took to be there for every person they encounter during an emergency situation,” Ford said. “Firefighter Araujo’s service will never be forgotten.”
RIP Brother.

Very sad indeed. I hope his family could say their goodbyes'. I think in that situation the medical staff should let the family decide how close to get. My mom is 78 and after she heard that the Mayor said Di Franco's family were by him at a distance, she said, "that's ridiculous, I'd tell the doctors to get the fuck out of my way, I'm standing by my son"!

Might be a good idea to review medical records and furlough those with respiratory compromise. A dumpster fire is the worst thing I found in my fire time, as an example. A major structure fire, Scott air packs no problem. But a 'small' fire that can be quickly put out? More than likely just put it out. But the chances of a whiff of burning electronics part and plastics are just a likely if not more. FFs should be screened regularly for such compromises, though no one wants to lose their job status. In the long run manning a desk is better for family and friends than the alternative, but that is not a decision that a hard charger wants to make.

God Speed for all and bless those that would give their lives that others might live

OT: Lightfoot orders all liquor stores closed at 9pm and grocery stores to stop selling booze at 9pm. The fine liquor stores on Madison/Cicero and 63rd and Ashland are going to be losing money!

Seems our state governor and the Chicago mayor made the wrong call on COVID19.

Sweden is packed with Liberal Jagoffs. Their media is also packed with liberal Jagoffs. If you think for a second that you are getting straight truth from their media or government, you are perfect for Chicago.

BTW, this was about the fallen Firefighter. But you made it about your political ignorance.
