Emergency Morgue?
- To prepare for a surge in COVID-19 deaths, Cook County officials on Thursday opened a refrigerated warehouse to store thousands of additional bodies.
The 66,000-square foot refrigerated “surge center” can hold more than 2,000 bodies, and is located about five miles from the county’s Near West Side morgue, according to a statement from the office of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
So far, the county has seen more than 300 deaths from the coronavirus, making up more than 70% of COVID-19 deaths statewide.

Good question. We've heard that if you contact funeral homes, they come and take the bodies away. And....get this....they bury them. In the ground. So it frees up space in the morgue.

You can bet your butt that some local politicians and realtors jus got wealthier. It happened so quick and quietly, it makes heads spin. Hopefully the FBI catches wind of the corruption.
In NYC unattended deaths jumped from 25-200 a day, presumably due directly or indirectly to covid. Funeral homes aren't set up for it so they're burying a lot more bodies in Potters Field.
NYC is probably worse off but given certain demographics of people in Chicago... those that are obese, with diabetes or high blood pressure who smoke and don't follow social distancing... there may be a lot of bodies in two weeks.
Total waste of money. I wonder who is getting paid for all this?

The world is being played ladies and gentlemen! Yes, COVID-19 is going to bring on death in some people with underlying issues like Diabetes, Kidney Disease, Lung Disease, Heart Disease, weakend Immune Systems, and other people at risk such as obese and smokers. Unfortunately, that is how flu viruses and diseases work. Every year, 10's of thousands of people in the United States die of traditional flu, and nobody thinks twice about it. The largest economy in the world has been walked to a standstill for a virus that is as deadly as traditional influenza. The smart and critical thinker asks, WHY? We didn't see this type of hysteria with H1N1 or SARS or MERS or Ebola, did we? In fact, H1N1 killed over 12,000 people and infected over 60 million in the United States and not a cross word was raised or questioning of the former president took place. Further, the former president didn't even declare a nation health emergency until over 1000 people had died. Funny that!
For all those who follow (especially the white shirts within the police and fire departments) Chris Murray and the IHME (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) Model, you are being duped and driven into hysteria by a complicit Main Stream Media Propaganda Machine. Get your individual and collective head(s) out of your asses and do some research on Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx and their ties to the Clintons and the IHME-Gates Foundation, and you'll understand what is going on. Again, ask yourself WHY?
The Murray-Gates-IHME Model initially predicted OVER 2 million American deaths, and inside of just 3 weeks that figure is down to 60,000. And it isn't because of "social distancing" because the "model" adjusted for that in the initial guesstimate of 2 million.

All the estimates are coming down. From 100,000 to 200,000 dead that number is now 61,000 by August. Hell that's how many people died of the flu last year.

I've almost come a full 180 turn about this virus. I was in the "shut everything down" camp too. Yes, I understand it's worse than the flu, and it's an evolving situation. But the panic and hysteria is really over the top now. If you look at the stats, the vast majority of people dying or extremely ill, are elderly with serious underlying health conditions. The majority of hospitals are not overwhelmed with Corona patients. To shut our economy down and go into, what may be a depression era type scenario, is criminal.

Hospitals are eager to identify a death as Corona-19 related. This means more federal dollars to offset their deficits from all the other free healthcare they administer. Hospitals are too damn dependent on government and elected government officials. Yes people are suffering and dying and CV-19 is an awful disease, but the point is so much public policy and public health revolves around government controlled money plain and simple.
Lots of people die from drug overdoses both legal and illegal, car crashes, heart disease, respiratory illnesses just to name a few significant causes of death, but this disease causes panic and affords the opportunity to control people in ways that have not been exercised by order government officials on a whim. The equally contagious flu and various influenza strains have not caused such a panic and hysteria to the point where people willingly give elected officials so much authoritarian control over their daily lives and also control over their financial/business interests in the name of public health. And don't forget to right to peacefully assemble and the right to exercise their guaranteed Constitutional religious freedoms have been all been infringed.

The issue is that the department has no SOP or General orders on how to deal with bodies that were exposed to an unknown biological virus/infection and so the ET’s 1) are over whelmed 2) don’t have the proper equipment 3) can’t/won’t process them 4) aren’t purring their lives at risk for the same pay, which I don’t blame. So the morgue is filled with bodies and body parts that take hours on end to process while the researcher and development dept figure things out.

The doctor in charge has some big racial problems in her office. Seems like some of the Stroger appointees just sit around and do little or nothing while the non-minority workers have to pick up the slack. Also, just a few months ago, they cut the budget and got rid of some folks there. Then to add fuel to the fire, the promised pay raise for the investigators has not shown up, so they are working for less pay.
Also, I was surprised to learn the union allows them to work without paid overtime!
As bad as it is, I'm glad I'm working for the city instead.

I have spent a whole lot of time in the hospital over the last few years. They have doubled the width of the waiting room chairs. Those chairs could easily fit any actual Cow or Bull's ass. 3/4s of the people in the waiting room are grossly overweight and huffing Oxygen. Who wants to live like that? What is the draw in being unable to walk because you are so fat?
I've lived all over the world. Fat people are rare in most countries except England (darts and drinking are considered "Sport). The massive whales you see waddling around this country with a walker in their 40s, just don't happen in most of the world. Perhaps they have a shred of dignity? Regarding the Cremation.
Speaking from recent experience, my mom had a massive stroke and passed on the 18th of last month. To get a body cremated, you need a Permit from the Local ME. Kalamazoo County is $50 and usually takes 5 to 10 business days. Cook County is 100$ per permit.
My dad had to wait 20 days for the Cremation to be done.
This is not something that you get done in 1 day. Regardless of State or County or City or Pandemic or No Pandemic.
Oh yeah. Don't Die in Michigan. Cremation starts at $1700.

My neighbor died a few days ago. He was 64 and was on meds for blood pressure and a few others. Coppers came out, checked the scene, made their notifications and the M.E. released the body to the family's funeral home. They showed up an hour later and took him away. Nobody wanted to test him for coronavirus. The M.E. didn't want him.
Just the standard doa routine. Same old shit.

We have 'journalists' and Politicians with no medical or microbiological understanding trumpeting massive boosheeit. You can't understand biology by reading paragraphs on new sites. These microbes are always here, we just have to be strong enough to keep them in check. People die; but the news seems to feel that every celebrity is supposed to live to a 1000 unless they OD or hang themselves in auto-erotic fevor. You can't live in a sterile environment. All we can do is live right, wash our hands and observe proper protocols. I'll use a mask and gloves on a patient or subject because I don't know just what is going on with him. I'm not worried about the common cold; which is what coronavirus is, I'm worried about a host of microbes that are much more dangerous. It's good that our first responders have PPE, but to shut down the economy over high risk people is more than foolish. I would hope that all police and fire will have PPE for bacterial risk in the future. Viral is a bit outlandish though. Can't chase suspects in a MOPP suit. That being said, stay safe and ignore the news, the stress of their paranoia is actually dangerous. The fear will cause more health problems that the actual virus, which is mild to put it simply

My wife has worked at NMH for 25+ years and there are available beds and ventilators. They are not overwhelmed and they all get assigned new PPE when they come in for their shift. Generally speaking, we have terrible call takers and dispatchers who are purposefully obstructionist. It's the worst kind of joke on a P.O.when they're dealing with a stressful situation and then an OEMC miscreant with an axe to grind is added to complicate things. There was an excellent dispatcher for 025 years ago who's a boss now. Those days are gone with this brood.

Heard on the tv news that the state was running out of money for the unemployment fund before all this started! They keep up the red tape to file a claim, waiting for Trump money to show up. We had an electrical fire at the Temp morgue yesterday 5251 S Millard. You’ll see county sheriffs sitting out in front (at least they were yesterday). They have a few bodies in there now - but supposedly none with Covid19 - because the iron workers still rebuilding crap there wouldn’t work there if they did.

US SurgGeneral. Dr. Jerome Adams MD, was blasted by a third rate instigating reporter at the Presidents press conference yesterday afternoon for using what she said were offensive terms “big mama and granddaddy” when he urged families to use commonsense and practice social distancing. Some may not know USSG Dr. Adams is black and told the nut reporter that his family uses these nicknames of endearment.
If fact later at JB’s press conference, ILDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike even mentioned folks need to distance when enjoying caramel pecan pie for Easter.
Not a word of insensitivity and stereotyping for our reporters.
For a high rated physician, Ezike sounds like an idiot like Atty JB - neither are effectual public speakers but good as liars, and even when they rehearse their third party crafted , edited speeches that still stumble mumble like 4th graders reciting their first essay.

McCormick hospital is staffing with $200.00 an hour nurses who have a minimum of charge nurse experience. The patient to nurse ratio is expected to be 15 to 1. What could possibly go wrong with that?

Haven’t two medical examiners left because of the patronage bullshit that goes on in the morgue? One resigned, and I think one was fired for calling attention to the lazy ass workers put in there by Stroger. Cushy jobs if you can get them, but God forbid something or other happens and you actually have to get off your ass and work.
They want morgues for media opportunities to make trump look bad which is the whole point of this media madness. The virus is bad but the media is putting everyone in a frenzy to hurt trump.
Which Agency is responsible for ensuring that the recently deceased are promptly removed from the Voting Rolls, this bring a Presidential Election Year, and all that? Unless this is done, there is always the dread possibility of Vote Fraud in Cook County!!! Mayor Richard J Daley ( the Original, Full Strength, Hizzoner!) was very much concerned with this issue, or so I am told.

When they take out the unused hospital, they can install a temporary casino in the Lakeside building. this can fund the pensions. They would have a captive audience with all the downtown conventions.
. Also it would be a draw on Hammond, Gary and Michigan City casinos.
