We ride together, respond to calls together and still have to touch people. We got anonymously called in on for "unfriendly demeanor,"
"unprofessional conduct" and usage of profanity."
Why?
Repeated neighbor vs. neighbor dueling parking complaints
over the course of several days on one block with permit
street parking.
So?
We dismounted and had the zone hold us down
on "CAPS related problem solving."
It was funny as all get out as we tore through
that block writing EVERY parking violation we saw.
12" from the curb... Vehicle over 6' w/in 20'
of a stop sign, missing front/rear plate and
so on...
LOTS of "citizen concern" over why we were
writing numerous citations.
And some irk and ire when we told the good
citizens the reason for our targeted enforcement.
Calls made to the district desk AND the zone
expressing concern over what we were doing.
The desk Sergeant coming over the zone and telling
the dispatcher that "Beat XXXX is now on directed
enforcement per XX01."
The Sgt. said:
"Thanks for writing those, they were calling the desk
and the zone with some bullshit and I KNOW you don't
conduct yourself that way."
Translation?
They got on the good Sgt's last nerve.
The dueling parties got tagged during our
mini-blitz and didn't like it so they made up
B.S. about our "unprofessional conduct."
Thanks to the desk Sgt. who actually "got it."
And there were NO MORE CALLS of that nature
from that location for the remainder of our
time in that district.
Some people take it upon themselves to try
and mind Police business.
"Why don't you guys start acting like
the public servants we pay you to be?"

I was always partial to the free McDonalds and a certain taco joint that charged $3.50 no matter what/how much you order. F**k the donuts. Also, neighbor says a firehouse on the north side had some snowflake taking pics thru the window and complaining about the same stuff. They should’ve taken pics of her and told her she was violating the stay at home order.

Why is everyone blasting the dispatcher? If you can’t understand this was obviously dispatched because it was so ridiculous then either you’re soft or you are incredibly dumb. I would like to thank the dispatcher for sending this out and giving us a little levity during this little rough ride we’re going through right now. If you got mad or upset at the dispatcher after reading that job then maybe you need to lighten up a bit. You took the words right out of my mouth. These dispatchers are so rude on the radio, almost as if they are bothered to be at work. These call takers and dispatchers AT OEMC make really good morning to be having an attitude! But now I'm guessing it's more because they dislike the POLEECES just like most groups in certain communities. If they dislike the POLEECE so much maybe the can get a job at McDonalds flipping burgers for $15 dollars an hour.

I had one of those anonymous calls yesterday, it got a 19P from me. Let the asshole caller identify himself, and stick around so I can explain the Bill of Rights to them.

I'd like to apologize for the quality of Employee that the OEMC hires to be Call Takers. I contacted my union, SEIU 73 and complained about the conduct.

But I want to know why this call was allowed to become an event? Isn't there an actual Police Officer standing by to determine if it is "something' that should be 9-1-1 or 3-1-1?

I was parked just outside Rockwell Gardens years ago and I was approached by a hype who wanted to talk. It was nice out and I was digesting a Moon's Corned Beef, so it seemed like a decent way to end my tour. He starts off with "I used to be one of you guys" so I asked in what way. He tells me he was Joseph Gould's brother. I asked how his brother being killed by an off-duty PO makes him one of us. He tells me he was a police dispatcher at OEMC and Joseph Gould was his SECOND brother killed by CPD. This was early 2000's and they gave him a day off and put him back to work dispatching calls to the police. He told me he did his best to put the thought out of his head that he was talking to the friends of the officers that killed his brothers, but after time only the heroin helped with that... There are police supporters in that room and we count on them everyday, but know that everyone has a history.
I hope that was just sent to a sergeant

Called on a suspicious person and the call taker said, "let me guess, a black man?" And I said no, he is a hispanic teen looking in car windows and walking like he is lost. It must be weird to be a black or hispanic 911 call taker and having everyone call in on black or hispanics all day, especially when most of the calls are from black or hispanic citizens. Remember that it closed so it could be replaced by A GAS STATION. During a gas crisis.

Unfortunately, no. They have access to a civilian supervisor but unless asked or they are listening in, you are left to the call taker and their implicit bias

and were chasing one of the more notorious high hens
of OEMC around to set her straight on what really is what.
That was when contract security on the front door
went away and a P.O. was posted.
And with civilian dispatchers came the S.O.P
of sending The Police to everything...
Even to HAZ-MAT situations and if the Copper rightfully
questioned the dispatcher, the dispatcher would retaliate
by sending nasty-grams to the field supervisors and the
W/C trying to get the Copper fucked-up on bad paper for
daring to try to protect himself.
Worst mistake ever to put civilians in Police Communications
in the name of political pandering.
True... There are a less-than-handful who actually
comprehend some of the nuance and complexity of
Police Communications.
The design of the place is deliberately fucked-up.
All the tech in the world cannot substitute
for call-takers being able to eyeball the dispatchers.

to the caller right now!" is one memorable

We were able to catch more dirty m/fers red handed

Wasn't there an initiative awhile ago not to dispatch 'benign" calls ? I don't call anymore. The call taker usually dosen't listen which requires me to repeat myself and then lies to me always ending the chat with, "we'll send the police.
