Did you see the video of 2 police officers (Deputies) confront a woman who had just returned from a friend's home with her young child. The child was on a "play date" and these 2 officers lecture her on the fact she took her child to another person's home and violated the state's lockdown rules ("do I have to explain that to you?"). She refused to give her middle name to the female officer and the officer stated, don't need it we already have your name and address, like a threat.

Based on my weak math skills it appears that approx. 2,350 out of 2,450 Covid deaths in Illinois are Cook and collar counties. Anywhere outside of that small area of Illinois you're more likely to be killed on the road. The one size fits all strategy is a result of extremely lazy, clueless, simple, and over their head politicians. Fat ass isn't the only one who couldn't manage a sock drawer.
They’re not prohibiting the free exercise of religion. Exercise it however you want. Muslim, Buddhist, Jew, Catholic, Baptist, Protestant, Lutheran, Jehovah Witness,Wiccan, Satanist. Pray however you want. Free exercise doesn’t require or implicitly guarantee the “right” to a large gathering in close proximity during a period when a virus is easily transmitted. That’s why the Constitution is interpreted by the courts. It is not a perfect document. It is intentionally vague, so that it’s application can be guided by principles and necessities of the times. No one is taking away anyone’s right to worship,
I agree that the pandemic is overblown. I don’t know whether it’s political in nature. I do believe that with proper precautions like masks and hand washing we could go back to normal. Then people would say “ you can’t make me wear a mask” and somehow say the constitution guarantees their right to catch and transmit, most times unknowingly, a virus that kills susceptible population. Well, I believe that our elderly and immunocompromised population has a right to live too. Even if it inconveniences me or I have to modify my lifestyle.

If he alone is not Congress making a law restricting the free exercise of religion, does the executive order violate the first amendment? I believe USSC precedent states that the govt- whether state or fed - can’t “appear” to endorse or prohibit the exercise of religion, but I can’t remember which one. Also, there might be some agency law in the IL constitution that prohibits executive orders lasting more than 39 days. I believe that’s what the state assemblymen are suing over.

Retired guy here. Still in Illinois but about 100 mi N/W in a nice rural setting. Just went to Beloit, Wi today, gas 133.9, bought groceries, alchohol, and assorted other things about $200.00 spent. Not one nickel of revenue for Gov Bubblehead. No mask required in stores and it was about 50/50 of wearers and non wearers. Bars and restaurants are closed, carry out only. Ordering a pizza for tonight, from the place in Wisconsin. As few tax $$$$ for Bubblehead to spend as possible.

There are 12 + million in this state. Chicago only comprises about 3 million of that, then throw in the liberal burbs in surrounding Cook County. The threat of jail? They are laughing at her. You have a governor letting out convicted murderers/rapists using COVID as an excuse. You have an ASA acting as a public defender, a sheriff coddling inmates, a judge releasing repeat offenders on ibonds. Why does this all remind me of really bad, ineffectual permissive parenting?

If anything the reported deaths from the CCP virus are understated. Look at the total number of deaths per time period in the US this year versus previous years.
In NYC there are something like 12,000 more deaths in March than normal. Only about 10,000 reported covid deaths in that time period. The same kind of stats appear everywhere being hit hard by the virus.

Dispersal "orders" should always be phrased by reading the applicable section of the mayor's order followed by reading her signature as mayor.
CPD should printup copies of her order on city letterhead (not CPD letterhead) with her signature on it to be posted in areas where there is inappropiate clumping.
The order does not appear to exempt police from the social distancing requirements so that is about all that can be done.
He should keep on reading, "...or the right of the people peaceably to assemble.....

Why deny people their constitutional rights now? What about years past when the death toll from flu viruses was much higher. Why no quarantine of AIDS patients, a virus that has killed millions? How about illegal aliens bringing tuberculosis, and other diseases into the country?
Another question. Since you want to punish transgressors spreading viruses, what do you suggest we do to China for bringing us this Wuhan virus?
China's punishment should be much more drastic than the punishment of curtailing of liberties that you want foitsed upon your fellow citizens who did nothing wrong, China knew what they were doing.
