Englewood Autonomous Zone?
First we're hearing of this one:
- So, I don't know if you heard, but apparently in 007 the 6100 block of Aberdeen has declared itself a sovereign nation. For the past few days they have been partying nonstop and have gone as far as blocking the street with their cars. They refuse to let any police in and the legend himself, Larry Snelling, has conceded and thrown in the white flag. He says not to go in unless a person is shot, so, in other words just let them have it.
Morale is at an all time low and coppers don't know what recourse to take anymore. This is just like CHAZ in Seattle. Ask around and you'll see they've lost all control in 007.
Maybe Commander Larry "earned not given" Snelling needs to check down in the fleshy patch where his balls used to be? Rumor has it the community members were even dancing on his car and he did nothing to stop them. Where's his supreme tactical skills now?

This has nothing to do with Larry Snelling. This has to do with the directive before the riots that says that CPD will no longer use force to break up large gatherings. There is no CHAZ in 007. If the Department wants to give a public statement saying that CPD will use force to break up large gatherings, then 007 will do that. I highly doubt Groot will let that happen. Since that is the case, large street parties will continue.
Quit bad-mouthing Larry. Larry is a way better boss then the former commander of 007. Under these guidelines the Department put in place, it is horrible to try to do any policing in some of these neighborhoods.

As a supervisor in 007, we have been doing what we can with the limited resources we have (thanks, Lori for basically cutting us all off at knees when we try to break up large groups/parties that are blocking the streets).

The bottom line is this - the safety of our guys is far more important than any party. And that will always be the priority.
Who the fuck goes on 61 and Aberdeen? In my mind there are a lot of places I consider Autonomous on the west and south sides I don’t go voluntarily.

Imagine the dwarf telling the media how the block party, though not having a permit and not practicing social distancing, is okay with the city cuz the residents agreed to let police and ambulances in if someone is shot. I worked in 007 for years. I found the vast majority of residents were respectful and law abiding. The real problem was the 6-8% of thugs that ran wild and terrified the residents. Then the corrupt city and police leadership that gave cover to businesses that were running illegal ( alderman and police commanders who either totally ignored this or took favors to ignore it). The racial politics were stiffing and corrupt. The tact team was abusive and corrupt. How in hell do you expect things to get better when all of this is going on around you? Glad I am retired and have been for a few years. I don't think anything has changed in that district. The street gangs had a lot of influence back then and most likely still do.

A lot of people bashing Snelling and I get it, he's been over promoted by a few ranks so the term "earned not given" sounds a bit out of touch. That being said Larry, from what I hear is doing a decent job and he's out there with the fellow coppers leading from the front so that is already a huge plus from the previous commander. There's plenty of commanders out there that have been over promoted (merit) who have absolutely NO clue how to run a district could care less about the troops....take for example the commanders from 024 and 003, those two are so out of touch and are completely worthless.
I've never been a fan of the merit system and Larry is no exception but every now and then you get a couple of good supervisors. And like a previous commentator stated, I'm with Larry...let them have it, our safety is more important.
For one guy, there sure is a lot of film on Snelling.
He's even mentioned on Dog House CrossFit FB page.

Merit or not, he is by far one of the more involved and dedicated bosses on the job. He Looks out for his guys, and he’s out there with you. I Worked for him when I was in 007 and he just made LT, and after he made commander. I would happily work for him again.
Everyone knocks the merit process, but in Snelling’s case the city got it right. I’d bet everyone knocking him never met or worked for him.

I retired last year, but at that time my district 200 patrolmen, 007 had 420+.
007 had 44 Sgts, we had 21
007 also had numerous outside units to assist them.
I know 007 is a shithole, but "limited resources"?

Anyone who wants to live in these no-police zones should not benefit from any federal freebie funds. No LINK, no section 8, no social security benefits, zero. They should create their own money system (not US currency), all goods should be “imported” to their living area thus the use of tariffs. Create your own schools and pay teachers with your own currency, no use of Neighboring fire departments, etc. You are your own sovereign so any American ties are cut.

Not true. I was a lifer. I'm retired now and I worked with Snelling in 007 many many years ago. I was a PO there for years when he was assigned to 007 as a PPO. Same watch and worked with him after he finished probation and was assigned there as a P.O. Sir you are wrong. Snelling was most certainly the Police. After leaving 007 I never worked with or for him so I can't comment on that phase of police history. In fact i dont think i ever ran into him again after 007. My experience working with him in 007 leads me to post this because to say he was never the police is wrong.
The whole 7th district should be an autonomous zone. Give it a week everything will be dead, all buildings burnt down. Then we can turn it into a nature preserve, let the trees grow and the ghosts of the comruinity will frolic among the plants and animals.
While Snelling May have been gifted all of his career at least he is competent and articulate. His number one priority are the troops and making them happy. Hopefully that remains his objective. It’s nice having a Commander that backs you up and isn’t afraid of putting hands on people. He’s out there doing it with the guys to the point that he’s doing TRRs. Call him what you may but overall He’s a great boss to those of us in 007.

There were people standing on squad cars stripping and pouring liquor and riding as they drove drove down the block through the mob. When people started throwing things everyone stopped them... they were almost careful not to damage the cars. Cars told to stay off the street. It could have turned sour real quick but it was like a big joke.

This blog is like anything else on the internet, or TV, or anywhere. People hear things and then believe it. Nothing else happens in between. This blog in particular is a great source of information if you know how to absorb information. With that said, most of the comments on this blog are bullshit.

Have no idea where you are getting that info. Check Better Government Association salaries, He has been on 28 years, not the 19 years you say. Take it from some someone who worked with him in a beat car in the due end, 002 prior to 2001
