For taking something less than a one-hundred grand?
- A federal judge has sentenced corrupt Chicago Police Sgt. Xavier Elizondo to 87 months in prison, after the officer and his partner were convicted last year of lying to judges to obtain search warrants, and then stealing cash and drugs from the properties they searched.
Last October, Elizondo and Officer David Salgado were found guilty on all counts following a trial on conspiracy and obstruction of justice charges.
On Friday, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly sentenced Elizondo to 87 months in prison. Salgado is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
And once again, a "merit" promotion. Is it about time to see who these imprisoned "merit" picks were kicking upstairs to when they got their promotions? Because "merit" promotions are jailed at a far higher rate than their counterparts and it's almost like they're picked solely for their ability to be corrupt.

Chicago Police Sgt. Xavier Elizondo Is 100% merit. This is the problem with this job!!!!! I and many others got past up by guys like this!
SCC, the judge said, five to ten, but I say double that again! Both X-man and Dave (with stupid tattoo of Che on his arm) are screwed and rightfully so.
Despite the recent events, this is still a great job that pays fairly well. But greed is one of the seven deadly sins, and I guess X-man will come out in 7 years to enjoy his outdated kitchen renovation and missed family milestones and holidays to only be broke and jobless. And for what? A few measly bucks?!?
Another black eye for the dept by clouted merit hacks. Put an end to these stupid units and put folks back to patrol.

Oh yes! Cops are corrupt, here's the proof! Yea, asswipe, 2 out of how many? Coppers are paid enough for nearly all of us to be honest, pair that with the fact that most of us wanted to be police officers from a young age and honesty is a normal part of this job. But as usual, the public thinks it's 1965 and the cops are paid some of the lowest wages of any profession.
Personally I think a Police Sergeant should be judged more harshly than a typical hood rat.
And someone like a White Shirt that steals from his Mother's Social Security deserves even more time.

Are you saying that birds of a feather stick together and any of their merit picks would be doing the same thing? So who were their merit picks, that information is public knowledge. Name their names so we can all investigate their actions. Haven't seen anything yet in MSM about this, would have thought lead story on all channels and front page news since a cop was involved.
Dudes gets more time than my cousin who cracked the head of pensioner who was driving a cab so that he can buy low cost food at moo and oink. Buy originally got 3 years, but is out on parole just a little as a few weeks on a year in jail

Any honest policeman would say the assholes should have received 10 years in jail for being lying thieving jag-offs under color of law and any police officer who believes their sentence was too heavy is also a jag-off because the sworn oath they took when becoming police officers meant absolutely nothing to them. There is a public confidence issue that every policeman and dept in this country is struggling with and these two jag-offs just exacerbate the entire problem. Corruption at any and all levels of government especially law enforcement leads to the downfall off all great civilizations. History confirms this.

Do away with merit, that wouldn't have stopped the sons and daughters of the chosen ones from being made as was done before they called it merit. Was called into a commanders office when I had less than 3 years on, scared shitless as to why, told me he thought I might make a good tact officer, but he didn't want any phone calls, told him I don't have anybody to make a phone call, needless to say I stayed on the watch while sons of supervisors went upstairs. Early lesson of if you ain't got no clout your just another cop doing what they paid you to do.. 5 years later I was asked to take a spot of a tact officer that was injured and unable to return, 7 years later I told the Lt if you have to move somebody to the watch I'll go, he laughed and said not you, it took an asshole alderman contriving some thing that backfired and landed him in Fed' court for sex harassment of a subordinate to finally get me back to working a straight watch to see my kids grow up and still make a pinch or two. Merit clowns have always been a part of the job, just by another name.

I Could care less that they got 7 years, even if it was just a grand. You know that’s only what they got caught stealing. Any cop who does this makes it hard for the rest of us. Is it unfair that Commander got no time stealing 100 grand plus from social security- sure is. He should be spending at least 15 years in jail.

what i find baffling is the total lack of consistancy in sentancing in crook county. yeah i know its all political and media driven but wtf. some people commit fairly minor crimes and get ten years, some ghetto scum kill babys and get probation. its like they use a dart board at the ccsao. im so bewildered lol.
