- at least two outbreaks tied to the south side training locations - but training is more important than Officer health

UPDATE: It seems to have broken out around the time (Halloween through Election Day) when everyone was Day Off Canceled and stuffed on buses for six, eight, ten hours at a time.

CIRT. At least 1 whole team is down and an average of 2 people per team. Just think of the number about to go up due to everyone riding in hot vans for a 12hrs a day for a couple of days. Maybe a new mutated string might pop up.
A lot of people are just hitting the medical with “covid symptoms” because it’s the only way to get any time off work anymore. When the department won’t even give you your owed days off, people have finally gotten fed up and said enough is enough. From what I’m hearing there’s a TON of that going on. Maybe if these goofs in charge would stop treating us like complete shit, more people would be rested and healthy physically and mentally and make it to work.

Not been cleaned or sanitized though. Doesn't help to have criminal registration bringing in the homeless on a weekly basis to register. The City gives zero fucks about our safety. Deaths are not as high, but are trending up. There's roughly a 2-week delay between case onset and fatality rates. Better meds and understanding the disease are helping a lot, but seeing a dramatic rise this early does not bode well for the winter. The 2nd wave is hear and it's a monster.
Few seem to take it seriously anymore, it seems. Not good.

This is a direct result of putting everyone on buses starting 30oct. It’s starting to come home to roost. What an unbelievably reckless thing for the department to have done. With no way to social distance and 9 hours on the bus, it was bound to happen. How come these imbeciles in charge don’t realize this. These actions along with keeping the days off cancelled as long as they did really makes everyone realize and see the complete ineptitude of the brass.

Officers I work with were hoping to get covid, just to get a day off work. Some are working 16 straight without a day off, others I know on tact and units even more. How can the department who claims to care about its people think that’s possibly ok? I’m guessing a lot are just saying fuck this and hitting the medical just to get a day off.
It was easy to predict, really. It is just a beginning at CPD guys. Nobody, literally NOBODY will care for your health if you do not take action. Wear the masks, bring your own hand sanitizer and stay fetal. Minimum interactions with the public. It's not worth it! Wearing mask is a good idea for flu season anyway, no matter if you vaccinated. And, thank you for your service and smiles. I talked today with two officers at Shabbona Park about an incident. Very decent officers. We need more people like that at Police:) Thank you!

Isn't alternate response now at the academy? They are using 2 of the 3 computer labs. As officers they aren't required to wear masks or have their temperatures checked upon entering the building. Most instructors do not wear masks when teaching, or anywhere near in the building. Recruits however, are required to wear them all the time, but the DC worried about the union regarding sworn officers.

1)complete exposure report ASAP
2) have your best friend SGT fill out IOD report per rules
3) add copy of test results, hospital records etc for medical section
4) 3 weeks after you fill out IOD form a city hired law firm will mail a letter to your HOUSE for any bills you have paid or owe for the covid.
5) fill out the paper work life your life depends on it not like a case report.
FYI you did not catch covid at home!!! you caught it at work and name the person who had it SGTS keep telling people not too and thats wrong.

Sorry but these paper or cloth masks don’t work when you are stuffed on buses or in offices with no windows for hours on end. It’s viral load. The more people, the longer the exposure is prime for us getting it. This bullshit that they do work is ridiculous. Maybe if you are in and out of someplace but otherwise no. It’s the same reason that grocery workers are experiencing high numbers. When you are around the virus for hours on end without medical grade masks you are going to get it. Same with wiping everything down. Covid can live up to 72 hours on a hard surface. When you wipe it down, you’ve got to let whatever you are spraying sit for 10 minutes to kill it properly. "Deep cleaning" does nothing, it does not stay viable on surfaces long.
Maybe the fact that no one wears masks at the academy or while in any of the stations or while riding the busses has something to do with it.
I’ve been out IOD for awhile now due to the riots downtown and have NO plans on returning anytime soon. Who would want to return to cancelled days off, COVID exposures, and half the cars down on a watch? I’ll ride it out until next summer

Ok, I get that the numbers of “cases” can quickly jump from few to many, that’s a historical truth.
How many are already back to work? How many are suffering/suffered from severe symptoms?
How many are/were hospitalized? How many had/have the flu, or something else, and not the ‘rona?
So, with this virus not showing symtoms in many people, is it possible that many police officers are spreading the virus into homes and business when they are responding to calls or otherwise interacting with citizens? Are police officers now a danger to senior citizens and those with otheer health conditions?

Alternate response is working out of 311 with the call takers from 911. All others are at the academy. The Lexington location has had outbreaks because 311/call takers refuse to tell anyone they tested positive because they want that OT being handed out everyday. P.O.’s are working at Lexington and bringing that crap back to the rest of the PO’s at the academy. No one cares enough to clean the 2 computer labs. Now factor in all the PO’s waiting at theAcademy to get deployed and the PO’s training. The academy is a hotspot!!

But, if you are a Department member that has voted for Sleepy Creep Biden, Fat Putz, Crimesha, Durbin, etc., then you are part of the problem and forfeit your right to complain at all. These so-called politicians are anti-police and have endangered us and made our jobs extremely difficult. It should also be noted that the FOP contract isn’t settled and the pension is struggling.

At Lexington 311 call takers don’t wear mask, they walk around hugging the OEMC call takers vice versa. They have police officers there as well. People have tested positive from all sides. No one wears a mask at that place. Not even the AT&T workers that come fix the computers. Exposure reports are not being done because no one wears mask. Call takers are coughing and leaving sick but return the next day because of the OT. There is a temp machine at the front but no supervision to make sure whatever department comes in takes there temperature. Lexington has radiation as well, an officer that works midnights filed a complaint with OSHA and city because he was getting sick, he brought in a raidiation meter and confirmed the exposure. So how come no shut down or fire department to test with their meter. FOP what happens if there is raidiation at that location?
Be careful around any courthouse. There is also a breakout among Deputies from the courts and jail. Other departments are also fighting outbreaks as they continue to try to get cases called.

Finally getting worst. I’ve been hoping to catch this since April. Been on buses for George Floyd riots. Didn’t get it. On a bus for two days yesterday. Not sick. When will I catch it. I need time off. There’s coppers in 12 that have been on the medical for months because they were exposed. Not infected. Exposed. How do I get away with that?
Off topic , one of the worst officers in the history of this department was just stripped today and really not sure of the details or allegations. Lets just say he is no stranger to taking several suspensions and every white shirt at HQ is aware of his terrible history and yet nothing ever happens. Hopefully he will spend the rest of his miserable career answering phones at callback even though that is way too easy for him. I kind of find it hard to believe that a 25th District Sgt would allow that to happen, and If you think it’s ok to sit in a lawn chair while on duty then your an asshole. Of course someone is going to complain, it looks terrible. I get it everybody’s tired and sitting on the bus is a fucking terrible idea but you need to be smarter than that and find a place to sit out of public view. Its not hard By any stretch of the imagination to find a place to relax for a little while.

Medical section doesn’t even want you to test negative after you tested positive to return to duty. It should be mandatory to test negative to return to work.

It was 14 than they changed it to 10, eventhough the CDC and even the piece of shit mayor recommends 14 day quarantine for returning from hot spot (not even sick, just coming from hot spot.). Your way around that is - you must be symptom free for 3 days. Some of the Covid nurses are not calling you until 14 days anyway (they know 10 days isn’t enough). So when the medical roll calls: state your symptoms. If after 14 days you still have them, they have you call your doctor. You’ll have to do the usual, your doctor will have to send them a note: diagnosis, treatment, expected return to duty date. Your doctor will either just tell you to rest for another week or go get another test (I tested positive still after 15 days- then was off another week). Symptom free for 3 days...remember that.
This mayor literally thinks CPD is trash. Remember the “ inbred” comment, the “clown” comments, etc. Remember that despite a pandemic and months of civil unrest that by & large most of us have done our jobs and then some with little incident. Meanwhile, reporting to work as usual and not so usual, cancelled days off, denied time, stripping districts to man downtown after her & her Democratic Party were complicit in stirring up chaos with flat out lies about the enormity of police brutality & murders of “innocent” black men by police. Remember you’ve been years without a contract , CTU had a contract in 11 days and hasn’t reported to work during any of this...neither have thousands of other city workers, council members etc. Remember that she & her party has labeled us all compassionless racists and further put our lives in jeopardy just to achieve their agenda of ousting a president who was going the other direction of their elitist “globalism” and socialist agenda. As I write this I grow more & more angry. Even angrier still at co-workers who voted against the physical safety of each & every police officer hitting the streets by voting for “shoot em in the leg” Joe. I say all of this as not some diehard Trump fan.
Remember all of the above when you head into work with mere sniffles (that’s how it started for some who ended up severely ill). Remember all of the above when you shrug off it’s “just the flu” or “not that bad.” Remember all of the above and do the right thing by yourself, your family and all your co-workers and their families and get a test and hit the medical.
After having had it some months back (positive test, not self-diagnosed), I cringe when I read people on here saying it's a cold or it's the flu. If that was your experience, consider yourself lucky. People seem to have very different experiences with it.
I've had colds & flus in my life and I have never been as sick as I was with covid. Yes I survived. But it knocked me on my ass for a few weeks. I didn't feel back to a normal energy level for probably 6 weeks afterwards. I am relatively young and healthy with no conditions, but I can see how it can kill people. It just wears you down.
Some people posting on here have no credentials to be saying it's just a cold/flu. Yes most people survive covid. People also survive cancer, but that doesn't mean you want to get it. Stay safe and God bless.

I'm pretty sure if you call YOUR doctor and tell the DR that you were exposed by your partner, someone else... DR. will say quarantine for the next 14 days and test.. Fuck the city saying work but wear a mask..Fuck that.

Stop worrying about IOD, Medical, etc.
Keep everyone else safe. If you feel like shit, have a loss of sense and or smell, or if you are in close contact for a prolonged period of time to someone who actually tests positive, call you dr and take off..
It wasn’t the 025th district supervisors that allowed the lawn chairs it was the 014th district supervisor. How many of these officers had a flu shot ? And what version of the test is being administered?
FYI. They are changing the test results for asymptotic people to false positive.
Also, the flu vaccine is the most toxic of most of the vaccines.
The effective rate is never more than 30% and hovers usually <10%.
If you have a stressed immune system you are also at higher risk -
The flu vaccine actually increases your risk of getting the flu.
Health care / first responders are targeted - please do your research and learn the risks.
Things are never as they seem. Only worse.

Have family that live in a town right next to Springfield told me that the hospitals and Springfield are overloaded with Covid patients completely overloaded, and then you have trust fund baby running around everywhere as if nothing is happening he’s doing nothing for it except for not pushing away from the Buffay table what a disgusting looking individual. Just worked 16 straight days as of today,10 November 2020 with 4 RDO's canceled. Good way of getting fatigue,hurt,killed,tired and getting infected with the Corona Virus when your body is weak. I feel it after working 16 straight days. I'm fuck'n tired. Thank you CPD, you stupid fucks !!!!

Hope you get your strength back soon. This covid is not to be fucked with, and you probably got in CPD buildings that unfit for rats to survive. Good you are young to beat this plague kid. After being gone from job 10 years ago, I would never imagine the brass and city treating you young guys like trash as they do now. Hope its an IOD so you and family are protected if God forbid you get hit again.
