9/11 Twenty-Two Years On
There are kids coming on the job now who have no actual memory of 9/11.
Some, believe it or not, weren't even born.
It makes us feel old, especially as we know a few hundred cops who served in the Middle East, a couple dozen who served in Vietnam, almost ten who served in Korea, and one total from World War II.
Time marches on, but that doesn't mean we should forget.

Never forget.
I was still on my rotations. I had just gotten to bed from first watch and my cellphone just kept ringing. My partner told me to turn on my tv and watch the news. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I can still remember it vividly. Such a horrible event. I can't even imagine what it was like for our first responders in downtown New York.
And twenty two years later? What is the state of the Mideast?
Afghanistan is under control of the Taliban. It's now completely 100% Taliban, the rebellious non-Pashtun minority ethnic groups of the Northern Alliance were completely overrun, and now!!! both al Qaeda and ISIS are freely operating in Afghanistan.
Pakistan still regularly kills off its candidates for leader of the nation while Islamics regularly attack attack Christians and other "heretics" like Shia Islamic believers.
Iran has orbited satellites and is still enriching uranium and building nuclear weapon capabilities.
Iraq is controlled by Iran. A lot of people are actually relieved that it is Iran controlling Iraq, not ISIS, which came damned close to overrunning Iraq after Obama unilaterally pulled out in 2012. The Kurds are still getting stomped by their neighbors and are no closer to an independent homeland.
Syria is an absolute sh---show. It has been warred over, bombed, blasted, and is still divided. Iran and the Shia Hezbollah are propping up Assad and Damascus, and in return are allowed to fortify the Lebanese and Syrian borders with Israel and install tens of thousands of ballistic missiles and other weapons they can use to strike Israel, and invite Israel to bog down in another wasteful war.
Lebanon is still under Hezbollah control, and an entire section of the Beirut harbor was blown up by a multi kiloton explosion just a three years ago. Rumors included it was a Hezbollah bomb maker "work accident." Over 200 dead and 7,000 wounded, whatever the cause.
Turkey has gone from a moderate secular democracy to an Islamic Theocracy run by an authoritarian strongman named Erdogan.
Saudi Arabia is restoring trade and diplomatic with Iran, after the Biden Administration has thrown away any progress on the Abraham Accords, and demonized the leader of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I know it was nothing compared to WW I or WW II and the amount of lives lost, but it was a very sad part of US history. As all soldiers do, I pray for peace! God bless America and my hart goes out to everyone in every war and every life lost.

Somalia is still a war torn sh---hole thirty years after Black Hawk Down.
Sudan is no longer one huge war torn mess of a country. It is now two war torn messes, Sudan and South Sudan. We had to evacuate Americans out of one of them recently, and failed miserably. A lot of Americans had to hitch rides to safety with anyone else, like the British, French, and others.
Eritreans have imported their internal political differences to the US and Canada, where they held Eritrean on Eritrean riots. Diversity is Our Strength!
After Europe decided to declare war on Moammar Qadaffi in Libya to defend the Islamic fanatics in Eastern Libya and then the European military ran out of aircraft, bombs and rockets in about a week, Obama came to the rescue. A few months later we watched Qadaffi sodomized to death by the rebels, and Hillary Clinton cackled about it on TV.
Libya is still a divided violent failed state, but now with chattel slavery of Black Africans again! Now thousands of African "Migrants" crossing the Mediterranean to Europe are fleeing through Libya, including Aghani-Africans, Syrian-Africans, and the like.
But the "best" part? The fighting and fighters spread from Libya to Chad, Mali and South, destabilizing those countries too.

This is an event that one day, your grandchildren will ask you about. The same way that you asked your grandfather about Pearl Harbor or the Bomb. I can only hope between now and then that generations of Americans with stay true to their post 9-11 chant "We Will Never Forget". I won't forget. It's a reminder whether it be 22 years later, or December 27th. We shall never forget. And regardless of how taxing it is to ponder this day, aside from everything else going on in this upside down mental asylum we call 2023, if we were to forget, then the future would have no meaning.

And the beat goes on. I was called to active duty for 2 years after 9-11. My career was wrecked. I missed the "opening day" in Afghanistan by a week and a half. After I arrived in theater, flew missions until December. Then went back several times as military and as a contractor. Iraq also. And for what? The whole thing turned into a waste of blood and money. But what really pisses me off is the CPS kids know more about George Floyd, than George Washington. Illegals swarming the country, a retard in the White House, and no end in sight. What a disaster.

Have the lawsuits over ALL the money that was donated to these victims ever been settled? And did any of the victims ever receive any of those monies?
On that morning thousands of people lost their lives just for the simple fact that they went to work. Others were commuting on commercial aircraft and were skyjacked to their deaths.
Homeland security would soon be formed, and freedoms would begin to be diminished in the name of peace and security. Prisoners are still held in undisclosed locations. Congress would act to pass legislation called of all things, "The Patriot Act".
But they still have yet to secure our southern border...
I remember....
The police that day were assigned to several locations around the city. I had a team that was assigned the perimeter around Sears Tower. We didn't know what to expect, but we responded and were ready. No matter what happens politically in this City, the real Police will always know what to do. Retired guy, 12 years, still proud of serving the CPD for 35 years.
Thanks to biden and the democrats, just think about how many terrorists are now in our Country thanks to our open borders
