A Portland woman blames the city's "defund the police" efforts for the brutal attack that she suffered last month at the hands of a homeless man.
Mary Costantino, a doctor, on the night of July 28 waited over 20 minutes for a police response after the homeless man hit her with an aluminum water bottle, leaving her unconscious and bleeding on the sidewalk. The attack happened while she was walking in a "nice neighborhood" with a friend, she told Fox News.
Portlanders "don't have enough police force" to keep citizens safe, Costantino said, adding that "we did this to ourselves."

People like Don Samuels, a Black Democrat Civil Rights leader and politician from twenty years ago. He led the fight against defunding the Minneapolis Police Department.
First by defeating the city charter amendment to replace the police department with an amorphous “safety department.” Working class people voted against the no new charter. Rich white liberals voted for abolishing the Police Department. People like DFL Party apparatchik Shivanthi Sathanandan voted to abolish the Police.
Second by suing Minneapolis to make them hire the minimum number of police officers required by the same city charter he defended in the ballot measure. The city fought the lawsuit all the way to the Minnesota Supreme Court and lost in every court. Minneapolis was forced to hire an additional 150+ police officers.
Finally, Don Samuels almost dethroned anti-semite Ilhan Omar in the Democrat Party 2022 Congressional Primary. He barely lost the Primary 50-48. Omar won the General Election by 75-20 something over the hapless Republican candidate.

It's not just having enough police, its having politicians that write laws that cover a lot of these crimes and prosecutors who will actually act on these laws. Let's also not forget that when seconds count, the finest police department is usually minutes away. Call the cops, always, but learn to protect yourself because the police are under NO LEGAL OBLIGATION TO DO SO.

Court documents allege that 24-year-old Reese Miller attacked and strangled a 61-year-old woman while she was outside of her house in the 4400 block of North Natchez Avenue early Wednesday morning, leaving the victim on life support.
They said when she was laying on the pavement she was already dead,” Operio’s mother, Maria Gimeno, said. “They revived her when they took her to the ER and then she was brain dead.”
The court documents say the neighbor called 911 and when officers arrived on the scene, they found Operio lying face down in the street with blood around her head and a zip tie tightened around her throat. When officers cut the zip tie from her neck, her face was purple.

According to the police report, Coy was confronted as she stood in the middle of West 63rd Street along with “physical barriers” that were completely blocking traffic.
After officers ordered her to get out of the street, she went to the sidewalk and shouted in Spanish, “If you don’t like the uproar today, there will be an uproar if the bathrooms don’t open,” according to the report.
When an officer told her she was being placed under arrest for blocking traffic, Coy allegedly “pulled away” and “flailed her arms” and then “stiffened her body in order to defeat the arrest,” according to the report.
Video of the incident sent to the Tribune by a source showed several migrants arguing with police at the desk about access to the bathrooms in the station. A higher-ranking officer speaking in English could be seen telling the migrants through another officer translating into Spanish that there were portable toilets for them outside and to take it up with the city if they had an issue.
As the argument grew heated, the ranking officer said, “It is what it is, and that’s it. They gotta go.”

As if Chicago didn’t have enough things to worry about. Looks like west-coast (or our own UofC) ANTIFA are here and getting ready for the Democratic Convention in 2024.
