Back in the Rahm days, we speculated he had a secret money tree stashed away somewhere because he kept spending cash without having any discernible revenue sources.
Chicago’s burgeoning migrant crisis will have cost taxpayers more than a quarter of a billion dollars by Dec. 31, Mayor Brandon Johnson told City Council members Friday.
The mayor also wanted Council members to know it is full-speed ahead for his plan to move asylum seekers out of Chicago police stations and into giant tents before temperatures plummet. But he still offered no new details.
One day after the Chicago Sun-Times disclosed Johnson’s proposal, the mayor and his top aides held virtual briefings to enlist alderpersons in identifying vacant land where the “winterized base camps” could be built.
Tax revenues are shrinking and have been for years now. The cycle of doom we are in lends itself to only two options:
- raise taxes while watching tax generating businesses and taxpayers flee the city, meaning you have to raise taxes again to make up the shortfall, while even more taxpaying citizens and businesses flee, meaning more.....you get the idea;
- or massive cuts to government services, likeg layoffs, streamlining operations, cutting fat, etc., meaning unions will be unhappy.
BJ doesn't want either of these options, he wants federal money. But he's making noises about both options and had the tame media release it on Friday afternoon, when all bad news is published:

Meanwhile, Johnson did not rule out new or increased levies to pay for the services. “So the sacrifices that will be required in this moment will be necessary from all of us, every single level of government,” Johnson said at an unrelated news conference Friday when asked about whether additional revenue will be needed.
Of course, the logical thing to do would be shut off the problem at the source - the southern border - but that would mean admitting that Trump's "stay in Mexico" policy was actually the correct thing to do, and we can't have that.

If what Biden and company are doing is not treasonous then nothing can ever be called that. This is treason in the highest order.anything done to stop this government would be called insurrection and will be put down. So fellow citizens it seems we are in a pickle here. I think there is a fancy economic term for this, but I call it a death spiral.
NYFC is abandoning its second temporary tent camp already, and it is not even Fall, much less Winter.

The moving away shall continue. As the loss of population continues so will the businesses and so will the migrants in the end. Just look at Detroit and the same thing is happening here. We are about 30 years behind. If not sooner.
Friends. Streamline spending habits. Cancel a few streaming services. Cut back on a few things.
Work some OT. Don’t go out to eat as much.
Lay low. Get your ducks in a row. Stick with like minded people. Keep the TV off and lay off social media.
Don’t let the elite power brokers squeeze you to death. Stay ahead of the game.

As a former ICE employee under both Obama and Trump, this administration’s outright abandonment in dealing with the economic migrants is mind boggling. Say what you want about either of the past two presidents, they both at least had approaches and plans to deal with the influx. Biden (and DHS Sect Mayorkas, the Latino Brandon Johnson) seems to hope that ignoring their inaction and its unfunded mandate on Chicago and NYC taxpayers’ pockets will not have repercussions at the ballot box. Somebody is about to get their voter backlash wake up call.

I do not think that Tony has the authority to force any suburb to house these illegal migrants, then pay out of their small treasury of tax dollars for housing, medical care, clothing and education. And, I am glad that she nor the governor can do this. Let the self proclaimed sanctuary cities shoulder the burden. And, send about 5000 to martha's Vineyard.
The burbs are mostly single family residential and a tent city with a few grand of these migrants would make a bad change

Here’s my take on BJ’s tax-increase threats. He wants to raise taxes. It was part of his early platform, and the policy group with which he is aligned wants the same. There is no buy-in for this. I believe that he will use the migrant crisis as justification for tax increases. When the Federal dollars finally come in, he will then redirect the money to the causes he had all along.
