Tourists Mugged by Reality
"Reality" meaning non-demonized yutes:
- Three tourists were beaten and robbed in a pair of attacks in
downtown Chicago early Saturday, two in the Loop and the other in River
North. It’s not clear if the robberies are related.
First, two 22-year-old women were outside Miller’s Pub, 134 South Wabash, when they were approached by a group of between eight and ten people around 2 a.m. A police spokesperson said the group physically attacked the victims, striking them in their faces and bodies and causing them to fall to the ground. The group then robbed the women of their valuables and fled.
Chicago police dispatch records show that the local CPD District was in “backlog” status at the time, meaning no police units were available to respond to the victims’ call for help. Nearly two hours after the attack, police met with the victims at their hotel in the Loop.
No descriptions of the offenders were available.
A CPD spokesperson said another man was attacked in River North sometime between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. He was in the 400 block of North State when five men attacked and robbed him of cash, jewelry, and a phone.
CPD dispatch records show that he first called for help from his hotel in the Loop around 4 a.m., but the case was not assigned to an officer for more than three hours. Police eventually met with the man at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he took himself for treatment of his injuries.
As asked here years ago, what tales are these people going to take home to their friends and families? Figure that they tell half-a-dozen people each and pretty soon, every mugging or battery means twenty or thirty people who might have come to Chicago decide to go somewhere else to spend money.

Austin, Texas (liberal town) is telling it’s robbery victims not to call 911 after being robbed. They don’t want these victims tying up the 911 lines. They can call 311 or better yet make the report on line so as to provide descriptions of the offender(s) so police will be able to track them down. What better way to reduce the crime stats. Maybe citizens should carry their own triage bags since the police don’t want to be called. Here in Chicago BLM Brandon said we are going to have to make sacrifices so maybe we will be doing the same. NYC Mayor Adams is cutting funding by 5% for the entire city. Isn’t Marxism great?

I moved to Florida shortly after retiring a couple of years ago with 30 years on the job. Just about everybody I meet and mention that I’m from Chicago and was on the job immediately feel sorry for me and ask me how horrible is it. I try to put a good spin on the City but I feel I sound like a fool sometimes because all you hear are horrible stories constantly coming from Chicago. I have been told many many times that they would have liked to have visited Chicago but they will never take the chance of being a victim and won’t consider it anymore. The crazy thing is that they mention cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle as being bucket list cities to visit. The media does a great job in keeping those cities in somewhat of a good light compared to always demonizing Chicago.
We couldn't even get the 2027 FOP convention here due to the downtown youth violence. Now imagine if your a convention planner for any organization, would you come to Chicago. We voted for this. Maybe the Black Caucus has a plan.

Board-up crews were hard at work Sunday morning, installing plywood over the shattered windows of a Chase Bank branch in Uptown. Around the sides of the building and a block-long AT&T facility next door are strings of graffiti protesting everything from cops to capitalism to Hollywood.

Not to blame the victims but what do you expect? Two women leaving a bar at 2 AM in a major Dem-run city get mugged and assaulted. I would be more concerned if it happened at 3 PM or even 9 PM, but I am a senior citizen and knew back in the day when I used to come to Chicago at least one weekend per month that it was best to be safely back at the hotel before midnight.
That said, about 25 years ago, after a friend and I were almost mugged by a pair of miscreants along the Mag Mile at 6 PM, I stopped my monthly shopping trips. I no longer felt safe. I can’t imagine going back today, even during the day, as it seems the “youts” are out of control and the police aren’t allowed to do anything about it.
Stay out after dark in Chiraq at your own peril. Even the daytime is dicey, but after the scum starts roaming the streets, you're on your own.

Staffing and number of units on the street at 4AM are going to be a problem. What’s the solution More pi’s on midnights? Adjust tax unit hours on weekend. Seems the bad guys are committing the crimes at the times less officers are on the street. On the northwest side carjackings, armed robberies and mostly the catalytic converter thefts are occurring around 6AM closer to shift changes
Anyone catch the dimwit mayors response to how he will assess the effectiveness of CPS? Not by results, not by test scores, but by how much money he spends on it. There is no hope for the city.

Those mugging-victim tourists should sue the travel guidebook that recommended Miller's Pub as a downtown restaurant choice. A lot of guidebooks for large US cities are seriously out-of-date in regards to tourist destination recommendations, and relevant safety precautions in particular.
Reminds me of Illinois Institute of Technology self-describing its "urban slum" location as "in midst of a middle-class neighborhood on south-side of Chicago near Downtown" in late 70s, when in reality it was surrounded by crime-laden CHA housing projects and forlorn Bronzeville. IIT's out-of-state freshmen would ride their bikes only once to 31st Street beach, invariably returning courtesy of CPD squad-car cab-service, minus said bike, bruised and beaten. Folks, we're back to those days again.

Must have been a whole bunch of parking tickets or something else equally important to do. Look, point, laugh, do paperwork then mov on to next job. What could go wrong.
