Debate is tonight 2/8 at 1900 on channel 7 and replayed Friday 2/9 at 22:35. Although one of the panel is going to be from a Spanish station and they’re going to have people from “community groups” in the audience who can ask questions. Something tells me I’ll probably turn it off in disgust very early. But I would like to try and confirm she’s going to be more law and order and he isn’t instead of just assuming it,

OT: I apologize for a comment being a little long here, SCC, but I feel this story is important to share.
My wife (CFD) and I (retired CPD) live in Old Town and have since the late 80s. We never had children, so it made sense to stay closer to downtown, and we have loved the neighborhood from day one. It's been our weekly custom for, gosh, maybe ten years now to have Sunday lunch at Nookies on Wells. Until earlier this week, unfortunately.
We had finished our meal and I stopped into the men's room before we left, and I saw that some delinquent had written "ACAB" in huge letters on the bathroom wall. Like any good citizen I respect free speech (even from the liberal/leftist types I disagree with), but what I do not respect is juvenile name-calling and profanity, especially when it disrespects the line of work of myself and my brothers and sisters in blue. I didn't know this restaurant attracted that kind of crowd, but I guess the anti-police types are everywhere nowadays.
This was bad enough, but was made much worse when I told one of the servers on our way out.
"I know it's there" she replied to me.
I asked her if they were going to clean it up.
"We are but there's not much point" she said.
I told her yeah, that's true, it is sad how shameless these anti-cop types are.
But then she said something even worse which I will never, ever forget: "No, I meant because what it says on that wall is true."
I couldn't believe it, SCC. Or maybe that was my mistake thinking even a nice diner in a neighborhood my wife and I have called home for so long would at least show a little decency towards LEOs. I know my dollars won't affect their business or really even be noticed, but that is one more business we won't be patronizing any longer.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx is keeping nearly $30,000 in campaign contributions from a 2016 fundraiser hosted by now-indicted 14th Ward Ald. Edward Burke — a departure from the approach taken by her political mentor, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
Foxx attended the fundraiser at Burke’s Southwest Side home in August 2016, but the two were tightlipped about the details of the event. Foxx’s campaign said it donated the money personally given by Burke and his family to two nonprofit groups.
Winnetka ill police rolled up to Edward Burke, Jr.'s home on Friday, the son of former alderman eddie burke June 29 last year for a domestic battery call. Burke's wife told dispatchers he was "extremely intoxicated, naked, acting violently and destroying furniture." Dispatchers were told he had two loaded firearms on the first floor.
The police report says Burke's wife injured her arm falling after he pushed her and said she feared for her safety.
Under the terms of his bond, Burke was ordered to turn over the two pistols and his FOID card and ordered not to have contact with the victim.
Then Winnetka Police made the decision to file a report stating that Burke posed a "clear and present danger" and asked for the state to revoke his FOID card. A detective signed off on the form, but before that form was processed by state police, the case was dismissed and Burke's 9 mm pistols were returned.
The only thing court records show is that prosecutors decided to drop the charges.

You can vote republican, and waste your vote on this race and a pointless vote for Trump who’s already the nominee. There is only one republican candidate for SA, so he’s going to be in the general election even if you do what’s necessary and take a democrat ballot and vote for Burke. Then if we can get enough like minded voters to understand they have to take a democratic ballot we’ll have a better democrat and a republican to choose from in the fall. Because as somebody said the primary is the real election. It will be almost impossible for the republican to win and some have alluded here to him being a plant. I guarantee you, despite his single donation, if asked about abortion, he will be as pro-choice as anyone else running as a Democrat. Also, voting on a single issue, especially one that doesn't play into the job of the person being elected, is extremely stupid. It's a perfect example of "cutting off your nose to spite your face." As a "conservative copper," you should look into his restorative justice policy that he has officially stated. Wow. I’ve gone in there a few times in uniform and never would have guessed they were anti-police. I guess some people are just very good at hiding their true feelings. I liked their food but there are plenty of other places to eat.

I learned many years ago, if a place does not like the police, and you get any hints of anything them not liking you this was many years ago when I was in the hospital coded out had major surgery due to something that was in my food from a restaurant in the 10th police district. After that time I never ate at a place I did not know who was in the back cooking majority of the time brought my lunch, I went to a salad bar, which they don’t have anymore and got my own items felt that if something happens, it was not intentionally for me, however when you were in full uniform in a place and they know you’re the police especially today be careful be very careful

Even though I am a lifelong Republican, I will grit my teeth and take a demoRAT ballot this time to vote for O'Neal Burke. We cannot afford four more years of Foxx/Preckwinkle policies. We have two chances to end those policies - the primary in March and the general in November.
There is not a contested election on the Republican ballot in my area. So its not like I am passing on supporting the Republican candidates. They will have my support in November. But in March, I will use my vote to try to stop Foxx/Preckwinkle/Harris.
