A mass shooting Saturday night in New City took the life of a 8-year-old girl and left three boys — ages 1, 8 and 9 — wounded, two critically, according to Chicago police.
Seven adults were also wounded in the shooting.
Officers responded to a Shotspotter alert that picked up 18 rounds fired about 9:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 52nd Street, according to Area 1 Deputy Chief Don Jerome.
A family was gathered for a birthday party outside when gunmen opened fire with assault rifles and handguns, according to a police report. There were 75 shell casings recovered from the scene, according to the report. The first officers at the scene began lifesaving measures, including applying tourniquets and chest seal bandages.

They cannot be compared to beautiful flowers as they were not given the necessary care and attention. These individuals suffer from mental deficiencies and lack common sense, education, or the ability to take care of themselves appropriately. It would be advisable to confine them in a reeducation facility in order to teach them how to become functional and well-integrated members of society. Taking inspiration from China's reeducation camp, perhaps there are lessons that we could learn.

Police go to the scenes of shootings, knowing the shooting could still be happening, or that the shooters could return at any time. That's kinda what police do. If that's not your thing, go be a paramedic and wait for the police to secure the scene for you. Luckily, and because they're cowards, the shooters almost never return while the police are on scene. Seriously though, if that's your big "what if" scenario, please find another career. You've got that sweet gun strapped to your side for a reason, and it's not to have a place to hang your hat. If you're simply suggesting that it shouldn't be your job to give life-saving aid, because you need to constantly scan for approaching threats or something, then just don't give life-saving aid. You aren't required to, unless you took LEMART training and actually shot the person you're providing with that life-saving aid. You just sound scared though, and that's OK... but you shouldn't be the police.

Scottsdale Police Chief Jeff Walther said it started when the department’s automatic license plate reader spotted a suspected stolen SUV from Phoenix.
Police say Young was heading north on Scottsdale Road and got into the left turn lane to turn west onto Cactus Road just before 5:30 p.m. Walther said an officer in a marked vehicle and a second officer in an unmarked police vehicle followed him to the intersection.
“They attempted to make that traffic stop while he came to a stop at the intersection’s light,” Walther said.

He said in the last 14 months, the Scottsdale Police Department had four shootings involving officers. Each time, the suspect opened fire on police.
“But we continue to see this over and over and over again where my officers are being shot at,” said Walther.
Scottsdale police say one officer involved in the shooting has three years of service, while the other has been with the department for 24 years.

I believe that the officers who responded to that scene and witnessed that carnage, death of a child and wounding of children, should all be given three days off via the department's order for officers witnessing traumatic events. They should all be given time off to decompress and process what they saw.
The pussification of this department continues. Most kids on this job hit the medical on their Friday and Monday and take 4 days off anyways… I think most of them are decompressed enough. Stop giving people a reason to scam. We’ve all seen a lot of bad crap. Deal with it.

Don Jerome on scene deescalated the crowd, rendered aid and got into a foot pursuit of one of the offenders but got blocked by cfd and their big red trucks. I have 12 years on. Worked in Area Central Sat/Gun. Deployed to 009 quite often. DJ was and LT/CPT in 009 when I worked those teams. He was always on the street, making stops, chasing cars and backing everyone.
One night a police officer’s sister gets robbed in a neighboring district. Taken was her personal belongings and cell phone. Minivan with numerous occupants was the offending vehicle. Some teammates stop the vehicle in 009. Victim can’t make the show up. One occupant pops a warrant. One occupant is paralyzed. Can’t walk. We take the minivan, arrest the dude with warrant. While processing. All the original occupants show up in 009 in another vehicle trying to steal the minivan. The driver has dope. We arrest her and take that vehicle. Wondering what we need to do with the paralyzed gangbanger, DJ who was there, walks into the 009th district and emerges with a chair from the community room and places it under the awning of a Chinese restaurant. Says, put this piece of shit on the chair and let him figure it out, we aren’t obligated to do shit for him.
Never worked directly under him, know people who have. Never heard anyone say a bad thing about the way he supervised or policed. Glad to see someone make rank that deserves it.

After watching what happened to drivers and vehicles trapped by the Burn Loot Murder crowds during the Summer of Love, I guarantee that I am NOT going to stop for some protestors in the middle of the street or highway.
You want to protest, fine. Get on the sidewalk and stay there. Don't block businesses, driveways or the like. As soon as you put a toe into the street and I feel the least bit threatened, I'm hitting the gas and not stopping.

I’ve seen bosses come and go, too many to count. The now Deputy is honestly one of the best I’ve seen. Always says hello. Always says be careful. Took care of everyone in the district. My dad was sick and like six months later he asked how hes doing and remembered him by name.
