My better half was downtown with friends Friday afternoon. When they made it back home. I heard “I will never go back into the loop again!” And it all started as darkness fell in the loop. Large groups of teens walking and in cars started to walk or drive around in area. As they walked to parking garages the teen groups started to block crosswalks and streets. And that’s when the first bicycle officers were seen on the streets. And the teens started to walk off to the next corner to block? Guess the loop is already a lost cause?
A gas van would have taken care of that problem in about 5 minutes.

On Thursday night they were in the famous or infamous Elbo Room bar on the beach. Everything looked normal with people enjoying themselves until the sun went. The Elbo Room has live web cameras that you can watch in real time and we were watching with curiousity.
Within 20 minutes of it getting dark what you saw last night on Columbus Drrive was going on on Ocean Blvd. This was during college spring break and these are supposed to be students. My naive family from Chicago had to flee and said they felt lucky to escape with their lives. You wonder how many other big Democratic cities this happened in? Supposedly, there were 15 arrests but we all know every one of them was released without bail (and probably without charges).
We have a (con) fusion center which can track cell phones , has access to both public and private security cameras, monitors social media, has facial recognition capabilities and the public safety has not improved for flash mobs in the loop, street takeovers in the neighborhoods, homicides/aggravated batteries with firearms in the neighborhoods and pattern of exponential everyday robberies and carjackings. Since is funded and operated by the federal government authorities, maybe DOGE can peak into its everyday existence and check for compliance to its overall mission and financial integrity.
Maybe sworn personnel and their bosses can be rotated back into patrol division day to day operations as not to have complacency creep in compromising the effectiveness of the wheels of justice technologies. Fusion centers are ineffective and provide marginal value to public safety and confidence in law enforcement practices.
