First of all you're not retired yet. A lot can happen in 2 years. Second of all if you feel your deferred comp is "destroyed" you were taking on way too much risk. You can work the overtime or you can implement this life hack. Finance your house for 15 years and pay it off sooner. Drive a 4 cylinder Japanese car; it will probably last you for over 20 years. That is enough for your to retire with a pension. You do not need a $1,000 car payment, because you are not impressing anyone; we know how much money you make. After you retire, sell your house that you only made the required repairs on (no fancy upgrades) for over double of what you paid for. And sell it “as is.”
Here is a bonus professional tip; earn a useful degree from a legitimate school. It is a beautiful thing, because the city will pay for it. As of right now, some of you do not have the skills required to write a decent resume. Now, you are running with the best.
Do not let this job have an iron clad leash on you. If you let that happen, then you will be working until the mandatory retirement age and making pension payments so that the early retirees can get paid.
And the best type of revenge is living better than your yokel acquaintances, especially the dispatchers; you can have your second house in a great neighborhood acquired well before you retire.

A couple of things…1. You do not lose any money until you take it out…in fact you will make more money when it goes back up, and it will. 2. You have 2 years from retirement…if you didn’t put it in a lower risk by now that means that you are willing to take the risk, if not then that is on you…the market could have gone down for other reasons. I kept mine in high risk until the day i retired…the market went down and I lost over $150,000..,that was on me because I gambled, but I did regain most of it back later.
Leave your money in Deferred, don't touch it and in 10 years when you are 73 it will have more than doubled.

It's your own fault if you don't know how to manage your account when you're close to leaving. Every economist in the world has said the market was due for a modest correction, as it had been trading higher than posted profits for a while now. They are just using the tariffs as an excuse. When the dust settles and it profits again make sure and give Trump the credit since you're blaming him now.
The economy gained almost 300,000 new jobs since Trump took over, although you'd never know it since the mainstream media doesn't report anything that shows this administration in a positive light. The economy isn't falling off a cliff.
