Corruption? Where?
- A Chicago woman with business ties to Gov. Blagojevich's wife has been charged with bilking taxpayers out of at least $2.1 million through a state drug-screening contract the woman’s firm held since the early 1990s.
Prosecutors allege Anita Mahajan defrauded the state and the Department of Children and Family Services through her company K.K. Bio-Science, which had “numerous no-bid contracts” with the state, said Assistant State’s Attorney Patricia Woulfe.
But that's not all! County Government continues to steal unabated:
- Cook County government is missing more than $500,000 in cash, recent audits found, and a kickback scheme involving surplus autos is suspected.
A spokesman for County Board President Todd Stroger said he's "deeply disturbed by the findings" and is asking the county's inspector general to investigate.
- $289,000 shortfall in a fund that holds inmate money for use at the jail commissary.
A $240,000 deficit in a fund that holds money for heirs who can't be located.
An auction with 65 surplus county cars sold in 35 minutes -- many to the same person, under Blue Book value and so fast that others complained they had no chance to bid.
Moving companies increased fees for eviction services 30 percent without a contract or board approval -- charging a total of almost $1 million a year.

Why does the city pay over $900 to a private service for DOA removal? Is this not a county problem? Why not just go back to the old way. The wagon guys doing it for sgt's pay. Its only about $30 a removal. The union fought for this in the old contract, why?
The Inspector General of Cook County is a Whigham protege, Joe Price. Price worked for Whigham at CPD and will do nothing to embrass Todd Stroger or the 8th Ward. The hard-working taxpayers of Cook County will find no relief with Price as the Inspector General in charge of a large investigative bureau of all of 5 individuals.

A policeman has to drive from his beat in Barrington Township to the fiefdom at 103rd and Woodlawn to kiss the ring for an oil change. Policemen are (even still) treated as dissidents when they have to come down there for stuff.

As far as the commisary accounts at the jail; who gives a fuck! So some inmate will be able to buy a few less smokes! Screw them. Stay outta jail next time! That wasn't thievery by Sheahan, that was incompetance copounded by petty theft left unchecked at the jail.

Mr. Fitzgerald sir: Get off the expressway at 103rd and go west a few blocks. Look for a blinking light on a cell tower and a bunch of deadlined squads. You'll have to park outside of the fence like the PD does, or Lannigan's henchmen may fire on you. Terry's trailer is on your right, across from the St. Patrick's Day float. Bring some handcuffs.
