Off topic: I agree with 6:59 about the police being a punching bag for everything that is wrong. I think the writer is a little too hopefull about "united conqueing all," but the writer is on to something in his call for us to be united. I could not agree more. We should be nicer and more civilized to each other. I second the call for us to become a family again.

I took my family to the memorial walk this morning and I would like to commend all of those involved in organizing the event. It was a perfect day for the walk, weather wise, no traffic, free parking, and a neat stuff given out.

to 6:59. how true to your post, well Ill tell ya, I had words w/ a wagon guy from 16 over a parking ticket for an expired plate( i was on furlough at the time of incident) about 1 year ago. We got in each others face and pretty much got ugly, he knew i was the police, well of course i had to pay it. Now we fast forward to about 2 weeks ago, an officer was 99 on a traffic stop on the exit ramp on california gets the driver out and starts to resist... Im off duty and of course its a fellow brother in blue and helped, I identified myself,helped cuffed the guy and threw him in the squad. Turns out it was my guy that gave me that ticket last year. "thanks alot office" he looked at me and his jaw dropped, I said "your welcome office just helping out a fellow copper, have a good day" and walked away.

Mr. 100% Mexican-American,
It is your ignorance (and I mean that in the truest sense of the word) that is going to doom us all. This fight isnt about stopping immigration, it is about removing those who are here ILLEGALLY (not awarding them for their illegal actions) and stopping those who want to enter the this country ILLEGALLY. Legal immigration is alive and well in this country.
Regardless of ethnic background this country was built on immigrants. My family way back in the day were immigrants. Immigrants that had to be documented, processed and who had to pay their dues and taxes to become citizens of this great country. Nobody received free housing, money, food, medical services or education. These things had to be earned.
Now today, this country is ESTABLISHED! not growing and spreading westward like the good'ol days. Immigration is still an honored tradition for all those who SEEK it LEGALLY. Thousands of people annually, go through documented processes, exams, fees (thousands of dollars) along with requirements they must maintain for years in order to get the benefits of U.S. Citizenry.
And I am sorry, this is not an attack on Mexicans, I have many great Mexican/American friends and part of my family is Mexican, but the bulk of ILLEGAL Aliens (I dare use the term immigrant) are either Mexican or of another Latin American decent, so they are going to take the brunt of this fight.
Nobody is preventing anyone from seeking legal immigration through the paths that every other legal immigrant has taken. If that is not acceptable, then get the f@#& OUT!
Here are some facts, illegals get free housing, food, medical services and education. We award them for being criminals and sending billions of American dollars back to their homelands while not paying a dime in taxes. On top of that, many are criminals, breaking the laws, filling the jails, causing millions of dollars in losses and damages to hard working Americans who have no recourse against them.
Our National Security, along with our beloved way of life in this country is in jeapordy soley because of our loose borders and inability and ignorance of our law makers (Daley, Blago for example) to rid our backyards of those who do not belong here and came here as criminals (illegals). The same routes illegals are using to cross our borders are the same routes Al Queda and other Islamist extremists are using.
It blows my mind when I hear how many billions of untaxed monies each year are being bled out from our economy by illegals. Then add on the billions in welfare, free education and medical services each year. Think about about how that money affects our taxes, pocket books and economy.
In conclusion, nobody here is a hater of those who want to pay their dues and immigrate to this country legally and become a positve and productive member of our society. But, to those who want to break the rules, suck my tax dollars dry and then laugh behind my back...FU and get on the next boat back to wherever you came, before we kick your a$$ out!

First of all, I am a female and I was born here and my parents and grandparents were born here in the Great United States of America. However, I understand the troubles that my people go through to become a part of this country and to become a positive part of our society. Mexicans, specifically talking about in Pilsen, are hard workers and yes, there are some that even I believe should stay in their countries but we have ignorance in every race and ethnicity. There are ignorant whites, blacks, latinos and so on, but there is much talking about immigration and mexicans but I know that there are natural born mexicans who became citizens, went through the academy, currently work as p.o.'s - that may respond to your 10-1 and will help your asses so fuck race- in the end - p.o.'s only have eachother. I just think that 10:47 doesn't take into consideration that there are immigrants who once came here legally and illegally that now work as p.o.'s and just like there is Irish pride, Polish pride, we have Mexican pride. Collection???? All I have today is an F, you will have to catch me next payday for the U. Why are you taking up a collection? I have no problem with 10-1 benefits when a fellow copper gets jammed when trying to do his job. But if you are going to be stupid, dont expect me to pony up anything for you. You dont specify if he was on or off duty but even if he was off, (public perception would be he was drinking on the job) it is still a bonehead move.
And why would you bring race into this at all? Trying to stir some support for your drunken buddy based on race shows how weak of an argument you really have. THAT is what it says about citizens. It does NOT say if you are illegal and drop a kid here that kid is automatically a citizen. That is how it has been applied, but can be taken away. As you can see it talks about LEGAL citizens and those subject to the jurisdiction of this country, NOT ILLEGALS. This was enacted so the the freed slaves (who were in this country legally) would have citizenship.
Also the first 10 amendments are rights given to citizens and taken AWAY from the government, and that includes the 2nd amendment. So when they talk about Militia, they are talking about the citizens and NOT the government.

After all, it does say and I am quoting from your own reference..."All persons BORN or naturalized in the United States are citizens of the United States and the State in which they reside." Therefore the children of illegal who are born in the US are US citizens. It doesn't matter what your opinion may be on this matter, the fact remains that the children are US citizens and therefore should be entitled to all the benefits and duties that go along with citizenship.
