More Red Light Cameras
Anyone got the lawsuit together for these things? They've been found unconstitutional everywhere a suit has been filed. Let's get the ball rolling people.
- Six more cameras will be put in place Monday to nab drivers who blow through red lights in Chicago, officials announced Friday, adding that crashes have fallen 23 percent since the first cameras were installed several years ago.
- The six new locations where cameras will be activated Monday are 79th Street and Western Avenue; 79th and Cottage Grove Avenue/Stony Island Avenue; 79th and South Chicago Avenue; Chicago and Western Avenues; 51st Street and South Western Boulevard; and Belmont and Austin Avenues, officials said.
Watch out 79th Street drivers.

I'm sorry, for these light camera's to work, don't you have to have the correct plates on your car, don't you have to have them attached properly not lying on the back or front dash board, or not covered by a dark ass tinted plate cover. what was I thinking. this is Chicago.

I watched MythBusters. They had an ep about the highway speed cameras. The funky lic plt covers didn't work. Same with the spray.

and remember when on duty have da mars lights on so you dont get the ticket also watch the right turn on red signs that got me. must be full stop and also during time prohibited 7am -7pm
Notice how many heavilly tinted license plates that are out there.
In an experiment we stopped seven cars with that kinda plate. Six of the seven were bad guys, 3 arrested for shit. Use those plates as a tool. Generally speaking the bad guys have them.
Just take the plates of your cars. Remember, we can't chase for minor traffic violations. When a cop goes to pull you over for no plates, just hold your badge and ID out the window.

if you stop for yellow and red lights you won't have a problem. if you drive like a savage and don't care about wiping out a car with a family in it, you deserve what you get, asshole, police or not. (except on-duty).

do the readlight cameras function like the plate reader cameras?
i know the alpr cameras are triggered by the reflectivity of the plate. i have seen it click on reflective objects other than plates and watched it ignore a plate covered by plastic that blocked the reflection.

at first, the city said these things are great for safety and now it's just about money. i can't wait til alderman and their kids start getting these things. we'll see then if they start taking 'em down! it sucks because law abiding people (valid DL, valid insurance, proper positioning of plates) will get them whereas those with no plates or improper position get to wave and smile at the flash!!!

Put a camera at Harlem and Addison. Also, Belmont and Harlem could use one too. Therefore everyone will pay the price. Does it catch motorcycles too?
Not really all for them , but they need on at 79th/PULASKI. Alot of bad accidents at that intersection.
Plus there is a Fire House near 77th/Pulaski and the bad drivers race the red light all the time.

Sec. 12‑610.5. Registration plate covers.
(a) In this Section, "registration plate cover" means any tinted, colored, painted, marked, clear, or illuminated object that is designed to:
(1) cover any of the characters of a motor vehicle's
registration plate; or
(2) distort a recorded image of any of the characters
of a motor vehicle's registration plate recorded by an automated red light enforcement system as defined in Section 1‑105.5 of this Code or recorded by an automated traffic control system as defined in Section 15 of the Automated Traffic Control Systems in Highway Construction or Maintenance Zones Act.
(b) It shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle that is equipped with registration plate covers.
(c) A person may not sell or offer for sale a registration plate cover.
(d) A person may not advertise for the purpose of promoting the sale of registration plate covers.
(e) A violation of this Section or a similar provision of a local ordinance shall be an offense against laws and ordinances regulating the movement of traffic.

These camera are bogus, I made a right turn after I had come to a complete stop. The camera shows my vehicle, show me making the right turn then shows my vehicle and a picture of the light. I attempted to contest the ticket they would not aloow me to do so. I received a ticket for runnig a circular red. YES and there are no signs posted at that location stating that you can not turn on red. I paid the ticket 111th HAlsted coming from branch court
I got nailed at 111th/Halsted too! I was in a rental with temp plates and the light changed so fast. CAMERA IT WAS YELLOW!!! They will track you down for the $90.00 GO ENTERPRISE MF'RS!
