Nice Job by SWAT
No one hurt. At least, no one besides the victim of the original shooting:
- A four-hour standoff ended early Wednesday morning when a suspect in a deadly shooting surrendered to police. Officials said the suspect barricaded himself inside the building in the 6200-block of N. Claremont early Wednesday morning after fatally shooting another man outside. He was taken into custody just before 5:30 a.m.
Police said he was holed up in an apartment with a woman for more than four hours. It is not clear if the woman knew the gunman or was taken hostage. The building's landlord said the suspect rented an apartment in the building. A SWAT team used a debilitating agent similar to pepper spray to force the suspect out.

2+ usd for a british pound. you don't read about this in the papers because they are dependant on real estate ad revenue.

Yes you have to be connected to get on SWAT. First you must be in SOS, which requires connections. Then, you must carry a Sig., a switch blade knife and an airweight on your ankle. Also a must, lots of black T-shirts with hardcore army/marine prints.

This is a very good point.... about take home cars.
Seems that Area gun teams have take home cars. Why exactly?! to get to a station quickly so they can get a statement from an arrestee charged with UUW.
And U.C. officers from Nagis; are they truely clout babies because they have dark skin and can say Gimme two blows 3x a day.
Or SWAT operators that are expected to arise and run at any hour to any spot in the city with a trunk full of gear. And to shoot at the outdoor ranges an hours' drive from the city, since the second largest department in the country doesn't have an outdoor range!
And D. McGuire wasn't ON SWAT, he was pushin paper for SWAT next to the Commanders office.

DM was never on SWAT!! and weve had some pretty intense incidents within the last year and faced them head on! so get your facts straight. and remember were blue just like you, correct?
and maybe one day that so called "unqualified clout baby" that has to pass physical/firearms quals evry quarter, might just save you or your partners ass...or maybe even your families. something for you and the rest of the haters to think about.
Ive seen the SWAT guys trian, Ive seen how hard they work, Ive been on the range with them countless times they bust their ass in the gym, on the range and on the street. The Department of Homeland security gives the money to the city and that is the reason why they have the big toys. We dont have PDT's in the cars not because we dont have them but because the bosses arent sending the old ones to the districts that dont have the new ones, and dosent work fast enough to get the new ones installed. What I dont understand is why cant we as a department at least attempt to support one another, all we do on this blog is tear one another down hell we couldnt even discuss the football team without talking shit about them. I understand that this job SUCKS right now and the mayor and 35th street is just adding fuel to the fire, so why the hell cant we at least back one another up? This job isnt the best in the world but we knew that when we got on. How about instead of giving shit to one another we at least FUCKING TRY to direct our anger towards the fucktards that are putting the screws to us. From the dip shit bosses that are making countless new units that do nothing more than make the already understaffed districts (not just 007, 006, 011, 015 or any other ghetto shit hole) even more understaffed, and instead of kicking people out of headquarters and sending them to distrits they send them to districts and take more people out of districts to make TRU even larger ( no offense to you guys). Of course the swat guys are in shape. They get paid to exercise! Anybody could make the unit if they went to work and just lifted weights and jogged everyday.
None of the POs in the Area gun teams have take home cars. NONE.
If you don't know, don't fabricate here.
And yes, narcotics people DO have take home cars. Sometimes they are mobilized to assist in large seizures after their tour of duty has ended. Some teams that are full of north siders work South, and vice versa. If they were to drive all the way to Homan, and then get their work cars, and then fight through even more traffic to get where they are assigned, they would wind up with very little time to do their assigned jobs.
So it makes sense for the narcotics officers to have take home cars. Maybe the SWAT guys deserve them as well. But with the recent scandal going on in their unit, it seems very unlikely. I don't know if it would improve their arrival time that much anyway. At one HBT incident I was at, the SWAT guys showed up with the Command van and equipment van, but had to return to Homan to get the new Bearcat, which, apparently, no one thought about bringing out to the scene.
Their commmander was present, which made it look even more ridiculous. But the thing turned out ok. They still have a way to go, but they are trying to be the best they can with what they have to work with.
Dennis BOOTH was the person arrested for the standoff, but not the murder.

I'll tell you what-when they wanted to put GPS in the SOS cars, they did not have trouble getting it done in just a few days. If the powers cared about the shameful PDT situation, they would find the money and time or outsourcing or whatever to get it done. Call the PDT supplier, and tell them we need 3000 of the fucking things, pay the man and put them in the fucking cars. And how about this time, get some PDT's that don't slam shut every time you hit the gas.
