I'm curious, this latest alleged disgrace to the department has 7 years on the job, therefore unless he had 4 years military time, he has a college degree.
How many of our other problem children also have a college degree? I remember when we went to straight watches and everyone was saying that was going to be the end of the camaraderie and such, but I truly feel that when this department started this downward spiral was when the degree requirement for both hiring and promotions kicked in. (right about the same time if my memory is correct)
The pool of candidates both for new hires and people seeking promotion was shrunk considerably, and in the case of old timers that had no degree but were hired before that was such a requirement, there's definitely some resentment.
Do the people with degrees think they can outsmart the system, therefore they get themselves into these situations?
How can anyone be appointed to an exempt position without a degree when you can’t even earn a promotion to sergeant without a degree?
Just my two cents for what it's worth, and no I'm not a person who is bitter because I don't have a degree...

No you don't need a degree.. only 60 hours from a place like Malcolm X City College. You can have your hours from taking 3 hour classes like; basketball, first-aid, weightlifting; NO! I'm not kidding!! Just look at a c City College course catalog.

He hasn't been charged yet so when this blows over after his 30 day suspension, they'll make him a meritorious something or other.
Corruption has been part of this department since it's inception.
College has nothing to do with it.

I'm right there with ya, when I heard this story I was disappointed, then when I heard who is was, I was shocked!! I hope we can stop making headlines soon!!
Just to let everyone know, this incident is the first, in a line of shit coming out at a later date.
Dept is looking for the right time to start releasing all these cases and some are going to be fucked up. Thefts galore, cops stealing from stores in uniform. You want a candy bar, PAY FOR IT!!! Don't just take it off the self and eat it in the store and then leave. Did you see the cameras in all four corners of the store you stupid fucks. You lose your job over a $.80 candy bar. These are the fucking asshats that are going to give us more then a black eye.

There is one more scandle that will hit the news soon! This female P.O. has an IR # for assault at the time she was drunk past the legal limit, scammed an old man by abusing her police powers, filing false police reports, abusing the medical and continouous domestic calls at her home.
No she has not been stipped. She did get 2 days for disobeying a direct order. Whoopie! Who does she know or is it becuase she is a white dyke! I want to know how she has fallen through the cracks.
If you or I did any one of the things she has done and gotten away with we would be stripped pending 30 and at call back, if not doing time for the assault.

I agree this guy is the lowest of the low. Remember this guys our city had an OPS investigator that was charged with felony theft (shoplifting or something like that) investigating the police. She had stolen some items from a store in the Water Tower. She did a few days and came back investigating the police. FLEMING was her name, I hope this person doesn't get back after his suspension. I totally agree with some of you....this departmet had NO bad apples at all until college was brought into the picture. Each and every police officer was picture perfect, the essence of pure, until college dilluted the holiness of this profession. Even if you don't have a college degree, I sincerely hope you realize that this is sarcasm.

now lets say it isnt his and the police have been watching your friend. now you're apparently driving the getaway vehicle even though its entirely plausible that you didnt know what was going on.
now if they can show him in the car for more than a few instances or if he had the $8k on him, thats a different story.
Now lets say they grab you with your buddy and you've already be fucked over by IAD or had a crazy broad get you involved in a domestic. I'd lawyer up too in those circumstances, guilty or innocent. come on, you guys sound like the media convicting him already. WTF?
