Just a Reminder
- The nation's budget deficit will drop to $205 billion in the fiscal year that ends in September, less than half of what it was at its peak in 2004, according to new White House estimates.
The new figure is considerably smaller than original estimates. In February, the White House predicted that this year's deficit would be $244 billion because of stronger-than-expected revenue collections. The deficit hit a peak of $413 billion in 2004 and was $248 billion last year.
Bush promised to cut the deficit by half by 2009 - and as $205 billion is less than half of $413 billion, Bush is two years ahead of schedule. Granted, spending $205 billion more than you take in is still inexcusable and contributes mightily to the National Debt, but this once again proves that cutting taxes increases Government revenue (the Laffer Curve - look it up).
Remember this when Hillary is spouting off about "rich" people being responsible by paying more - she's talking about you and us, not Bill Gates.

SCC---Say what you want about Bill Clinton, but when he left office there was no deficit for the first time since the between the world wars.
SCC---Why are you so happy that Bush was able to cut the deficit to only 205 Billion? You (and every American) should be enraged he ran the deficit up to a 1/2 trillion dollars to begin with.

Gasoline is roughly double what it was when Bill was in the White House. Mobil, Shell, BP and other oil companies are making multi billion quarterly profits. Now milk and other basic necessities for families are going up because of the use of corn for ethanol. Ethanol is another Bush ruse, just another way to keep fuel prices up.
Once again, I hope the pension fund has petroleum stocks.
The actions in Afghanistan were needed, picking a fight with Iraq wasn't.

Budget surplus? Are you soft or just that out of touch? There was never any budget surplus. It was a paper trick. Clinton threw out a "Projected" estimate based on a 15 year prediction! Little did he know that in less than a year of his leaving office, 9/11 happened and all the fantasy numbers went out the window. Not only that, but we'll leave you with the words of his own budget chief:
"Believe me, we were stretching it when we did five-year projections," said Leon E. Panetta, who was once Clinton's chief of staff, his budget director and chairman of the House Budget Committee. "Any time you get out beyond a few years, you're in never-never land."

Clinton used this "projected surplus" to justify a new wave of spending, not to pay down the National Debt. The republicans stopped him for a while.
Start cutting management jobs to save money. Both the city and the county have too many aldermen/commissioners. Its time to down size. This should be done on a national level. The time has come for micromanagement!

You fail to mention at what cost to the American public? When Clinton left office he had hollowed out our military and did away with programs such as the FAMS. Sure, we saw a surplus but he also sold his soul to the devil and the Chinese.

You got it backwards voting for Thompson or Brownback is a sure way to get Hillary elected. The next President may have the opportunity to seat a Supreme Court Justice. Rudy G. is the only viable nationwide Republican candidate. Remember Rudy was elected Mayor of a liberal snake pit. You got to give something up in order to get some things accomplished in a place like New York, and Rudy implemented many conservative ideas, for the betterment of New York.

You are partially correct in your response. YES, voting for a true conservative fractures the Republican Bloc but it sends a strong message to the GOP too. Either you reflect the will of your constituents or Go To Hell!!

I am a true conservative and want my opinion and vote to count. We the fractional minority are the only thing keeping this country's moral compass from going completely off kilter.
Rudy is a FAKE, and many Democrats will vote for him. The absolute same thing as Hillary and Obama but tamed down in image to sell as a Republican. No different than NYC's current Mayor Bloomberg, who was a Republican In Name Only until two weeks ago.

Prime Example: The 1998 Illinois Gubernatorial Election GOP Candidate George Ryan Vs. Democrat Glen Poshard. I voted for Poshard who was a true conservative. Poshard was endorsed by the NRA,Pro-Life,Pro-Gun,Conservative,and not endorsed by Mayor Daley. Poshard was a downstate Democrat who was hated by the Democratic establishment. Poshard was not an attorney or career politician, he was an educator and a threat to typical politics.
George Ryan was endorsed by Daley and won. We all know the rest of the story. He also destroyed the GOP in Illinois.
Think,examine the issues and make an educated choice before you vote.
