Again, Little or No Coverage

  • Three teenagers are were in custody Tuesday afternoon after they injured a Chicago Police officer at an Englewood gas station. The uniformed Englewood District officer pulled over after spotting three teens. They appeared to be of school age, and the officer planned to investigate possible truancy when he saw them about 9:55 a.m. Tuesday morning at a gas station near Halsted Street and Marquette Road, according to Englewood District Lt. Robert Duewerth. The teens, ages 17 and 18, apparently figured it was three against one and jumped the officer, Duewerth said.
And as far as we can tell, only covered by NewsRadio 780 and a stringer for the Sun Times newsgroup website. Nothing on the networks or the print media. Anyone else catch this story anywhere?

NEVER risk your safety for these fuckers!

If they don't want to go to school, don't make them!

You are never going to change the way things are, you are one man. A societal change is needed on the whole!

This is what society has cultivated, people with little or not respect for law enforcement. Those three monsters should be made an example for all to see. I hope the officer is ok. These kids are awful and should be put behind bars.

I don't want to second guess this officer's actions, but who fucking cares if these fuckers don't want to go to school? We especially shouldn't care about much and/or take any unnecessary action while off-duty. I wish the officer well and a quick recovery of any injuries.

Sadly, as a twist on an old media saying:

Teens beat officer: Nothing
Officer beats teens: Now THAT'S a story!

Disgusting.

funny that a terrible thing happens to a police officer and there aren't 190 comments...but if this was scandalous everyone would be on here saying what a jagoff he/she is. sickening. and to 4:39am there is not only no respect for law enforcement they have no respect for anything/anyone they always talk about the "streets" but the last time i checked the "street" is made of asphalt and just lays there. They are there own worst enemy. Think of this, say that those of the streets were only responsible for say 400 of the yearly murders over just the last ten years (and I think I'm being nice). That is 4000 murders over the last 10 years!4000! thats about 3500 murderers in the city alone.3500 people who have that little respect for life.but we're the bad guy? the f'n grass even dies around the streets! when I came on I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and i grew up in the city.now i know why my parents would move, it isn't rocket science. sticking with those same numbers since my dad came on 40 years ago there has been 16,000 murders!!!and i'm the bad guy!? when abbate (who i'm not defending) hit the news there was one day between 007/008 districts when within an hour there 4 people shot 3 of which were dead all within 1mile of each other. not once did it hit the news but knucklehead was on there everytime as the top story it amazed me. where has societies priorities gone? Are we to accept this as just normal behavior and scold the police officers who are out there defending human life for doing so? I know I for one am done policing and God bless those who continue to hump but remember to keep your priorities straight you and your family come FIRST.

Englewood eh? Along with North Lawndale two of the sorriest poopholes in this city. I'm surprised that "community" didn't fight Maywood for the rights to all the swell Fred Hampton memorials Maywood put up.

On a related note, I saw Harry Porterfield's "Someone You Should Know" segment on Channel 7 last night. He profiled scumbag Hampton's surviving brother, who of course claims his dead jailbird brother Fred was in reality another Mother Theresa; just misrepresented by the press and Po-Leece, of course. Lost what little respect I had for that toadie Hampton-apologist Porterfield. F**k him and those douchebag leftists on Channel 7!

Where was the Rev. Jackson in this incident when it came to having these thugs show up in school so the school system could receive money because of attendance. He apparently didn't praise the officer for trying to see if these scum bags were suppose to be in school. Oh, escuse me, if the officer would have hurt one of these poor innocent children, the Rev. would have been all over him.

What do you expect? The media tries really hard to tell the general public everyone is the same and nobody should be treated differently. That certain segments of the poulation gets "opperssed" by the government is bad and it could happen to anyone! However, if the media lets out that it is a free for all on any possible LEO, the whole myth come tumbling down. The Public (and I don't mean "the community") will begin to question their life lessons learned by watching MTV's Real World. Their sympathies for those "oppressed" might run out.

If they do that to a police officer can you imagine what they would do to an old woman or man walking down the street when they needed money.
Can you imagine when they need a ride, and you're waiting at the red light?
Savages need to be arrested and taken off the street for the safety of society.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. We need 10-4 Units for every car and on all watches. This will become an issue of importance, only after a few of us are murdered working 10-99 within a short period of time. God forbid.

It doesn't suprise me that this happened in 007. I work there 1st watch and its a dump from one end to the other.

First, there is no family structure which leads to these little punks doing what ever they feel. And then they look at you like you have three heads when you stop them

Second, you should see some of the mutts they got working second watch. Its filled with a bunch of goofs that walk in several minutes late, wear a blue tooth 24/7, talk about how much fun not working, but attending Bud Bilikin. Hell one certain f/1 even got her nails did during the tour at 63rd/Damen. And the others just sit in the park and don't move till called. And the rest just hold themselves down on b.s. And the desk crew is something else too. Don't get me wrong, one half are old timers that know quite a bit and great to talk to (RIP Garet Dubin), but the rest are a bunch of scared suck ups with three years or less on.

I just dont get why no one wants to work. I'm not saying every one needs to be aggressive as hell. But there is something expected of you when being the police. I mean who care's about a complaint. If your doing your job, then you got nothing to worry about. If your mother fucking everyone, making shit up, and acting like an ass all along the tour then you got no right to whine when a complaint comes down. If you fighting with an arrestee, just remember the key phraises when the camera is rolling "stop fighting" and "Let go of my gun"

Stay safe all. And get well soon Capt Rozell

there is no such thing as a bad boy!
these children you refer to as monsters had to grow up in a socioeconomicly depressed area without the benifit of good role models. raised by chemically dependant 5th generation welfare mothers in father absent puplicly subsidised homes, these children are full of rage. it is of little wonder that these missguided souls violently lash out at each other, citizens, and of course, the police.
the courts and police need to handle the violent outbursts of these children with sypathy and understanding in the knowledge that the firm, swift hand of justice and resulting death or lengthy prison sentence has not worked and it is time to persue a different path.

I highly recommend that every officer takes the time to take a few lessons in the Japanese form of self defense called " Aikido". You won't always be able to use your service weapon, and as we all know, aren't always proficient with it anyway.
This form of self-defense in my opinion is dominant when hand to hand is involved. You were taught "Hapkido" , a Korean version of Aikido. I would recommend Aikido.
I'm not saying you will never use your gun again, but when you are confident in your abilities, there is NO ONE for you to physically fear.
Be safe my friends and learn the way'

WTF are you talking about....You think the burden falls on us and the courts to fix the chemical dependency lack, of a father, and socioeconomic problems of the ghetto? PLEASE PLEASE tell me how LAW enforcment first has the man power to play Daddy for every broken family in the ghetto citywide. Then tell me HOW that is part of our responsibility to install structure, discipline, guidance, and finacial stability through CPD to every broken family in the 007 011. Nobody cared about them when they we're in the projects and nobody cares about them now. We are the group that deals with them the most day in day out that isn't there taking their money for drank, sqaures, blunts, candy, and in the name of religion. Every one else is just leaching on the communty for political power or financial gain. From the dope boys on the corner to cease fire they are all chasing the dollar and power. Wake up this show will never change until the city kicks them out for people with money.

However we are the ones here containing the madness with our life at risk. So after something like this happens to us what needs to happen to them is every thug who wants to hang out infront of the marathon, liqour store, and whitecastle on halsted. Needs to get their pass revoked with a smack and told "this is what happens when you jump the police". Zero tolerance until the message is understood. Unless you have a better path to pursue for officer safety in 007.

Hey unless you have worked in 007 don't trip. And when I say worked I mean worked, I did 17 yrs there and finally said forget it. Yeah you do have some dogasses on days but those that do work WORK hard. As for Dubes he was a prince and I really miss him he trained me and was like a brother(BOTB). He and a few others(some gone, some retired) taught me a hell of alot more than what theses newbies are getting today. 007 is unique just like some of the other spots in the city get to know the good people over there watch over them and shitcan the idots that don't care about life or themselves. We need to go back to the ways of Cmdr.'s Chambelin, Watson, MoFo and others whithout saying what we did if you were there then you know what the SOP was for the watch's and Tact.

By the way what is wrong with Rozell? Hell I thought she was pulling the pin this year?

A real "Englewood Ranger"

A title earned not given!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way to the poster about Rozell. I forgot this much in my previous post.

1. 007 is not a dump from one end to the other.

2. Everyone in the"wood" is not on welfare

3. Let the ink dry on your application and get about 15 years on before you call an area a dump. There are a lot of good hard working people there it's the 2,437 assholes that terroize them that make it a rough neighborhood.
