Bad FOP!
One of the perks you receive as a Unit Rep or a Board Member is that for FOP Conferences, you get free airfare, half your room paid for, and a per diem to pay for meals. Not a bad deal. The only thing that is expected is that you attend and vote for the business of the organization, usually held on the last day of a conference.
Not really a hard thing to figure out, is it? If dues money is paying for your trip, the very least you can do - heck, the very least that should be expected of you - is that you vote on the business concerns of the 10,000 people you are representing, right?
Perhaps Trustee Daniel Trevino, Trustee Kenny Pollack and Unit 177 Rep Kathleen Gahagan could explain to the readers of the blog how they managed to travel to Kentucky, attend a few days worth of conferences, and leave the FOP conferences before the actual business of the Order was voted on, all on our Union Dues? And perhaps someone could bring this up at the FOP General Meeting 18 September at noon?
We'd say that a little bit of reimbursement is in order. Who do these people think they are - Congress?
UPDATE: Curiously, Trevino and Pollack are members of the Podgorny faction of the current Board, not the Citywide guys. Hmmm.

A little off topic: Is there a September FOP newsletter?
fop delaying the sept newsletter because they don't want to serve "adequate notice" to the membership about an attempt to shake up the "good old boy" network al la City Wide Outfit by changing the by laws the by laws. SCC your posting of members of the board who left because Ilinois voted 48th and plane reservations had already been made and Capparellie refused to pay for the departure change charge shows a complete lack of research on your part and if your not part of the City Wide Outfit you are completely bias when it comes to telling both sides. Your nanming of names is not in keeping with your ban of other posts that name your "pals" as conduct not in the best interests of the membership

He was my homeroom instructor when I was in the Training Academy over 20 years ago. While the other insturctors gave their recruits advice and offered help in any way needed, Trevino did NOTHING for us.
IMO, Trevino was a complete company man who would do anything a boss would tell him...I am not suprised that Trevino pulled a stunt like this...
Newsletter came yesterday. Rather than jumping on these three, lets give them a chance to reimburse us for the cost of their vacation and be done with it. If they don't, they should be treated like anyone who steals from us. I'm sure they are just practicing for the day they get voted in as an officer in our union.
Bill Burns (018), a reform member of the Podgorny Team, and now a member of the CITYWIDE TEAM, did not stay to vote either. Don't blast Pollack and Trevino and not BURNS. Fair is fair. SCC - you have stated for years, if you don't like information on this blog - to create a new blog. I assure that is in the works. SCC is Donahue minions.

Next time, VOTE for independent candidates. These group teams never work out or offer what you really want.
I am sure if you check the itemized billing of the FOP elected officers FOP charge cards, there would be MANY unauthorized purchases as well as cash advances, all paid by the FOP members.
For years now, the FOP paid expense accounts have been used to purchase alcoholic beverages to entertainment while out of state on "business" and as well locally when FOP elected officers are entertaining visitors.
One has to remember, many illegal services such as "escorts", prostitution and others will bill a corporate credit card with false names such as ABC Business Printing or other such bogus businesses.
In the past I have been in the same lounges as some of our elected FOP officials. The whole bar tab is paid for by the FOP corporate credit card.
Just like almost every level of government, freebies and corruption runs amuck.

Yes there is. I got mine yesterday (the 12th). It had some events listed that took place on the 8th (Baseball Game) and 9th (Freedom Ride, Freedom Walk). A bit late. It also had some good articles about different things and gave Mary Mitchell some props for the one column that she wrote this year which did not kick us. It would be nice if it came before the first of the month, but what can you do? Oh, I don't know, maybe that office staff could get it out on time. But thanks for the effort.

So Illinois voted 48th? Boo-fucking-hoo. It's a random drawing and Illinois got the short end this year. This conference has been scheduled for at least a year and everyone knows that Voting Day is a half day anyway. These three assholes couldn't stay and vote on MY national business?
Fuck them. They're thieves, plain and simple. And if FOP had a set of balls, they'd fill out a case report and name these three as offenders.

True why si it when you call the union and ask to speak to any of the "magnificent 5", Donohue,fallon,doherty,bella,capparelli they are never available but will call back! strangely though the old bullshit is alive and well, when you call you are transferred to their personal secetary who asks your name, then "hold on", then comes back "sorry he is not available but will call you back". But the jagoffs never call back! Same as email why do we pay so they can have email but then never respond? HAVE ANOTHER DRINK,PAY ANOTHER BAR TAB, PAY FOR YOU CARS AND FUEL ON OUR DIME AS ALWAYS!
Trevino was teaching IVC "Volvo drivers", when I was in the academy. What a line of BS. I overheard him said he would go to Dugans just so PPO's would buy him drinks all night. I'm in there on one of those night and here he his waiting at the bar for us PPO's to buy him one. Lucky I gave them the 411 on him. He didn't stay long that night. Cheap B
Trevino favorite phrase was "Give him a banana" when parking tickets were yellow 20 years ago. Use to tell the recruits all kinds of war stories at Dugan's on Halsted back in the 80's.
