Officer Fights Back

  • A man hit a Chicago police officer with his car in 2005 and dragged him for 10 feet under the car's bumper, the police officer alleged in a lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Officer [BR] filed the suit against the family of the driver, Emmanuel Lopez, 23, who was shot to death by police during the incident on Sept. 16, 2005, near 37th Place and Kedzie Avenue.

The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, seeks unspecified damages.
The officer is suing the family represented by Terry Ekl, who along with Jon "stop calling me Andy Dick" Loevy, is among the tops in suing the police for any and all incidents where there might be a big payoff. Hopefully, he can win one and stop these parasitic humanoid shysters from bleeding the taxpayers dry.

As one of the PO's who was on the scene after the shooting happened, way to go B.R.

We need more PO's like him. More of us to stand up and fight back.

And may Terry Ekl die a slow and painful death.

Its about the time the real victim files a lawsuit.

He should also file an ARDC complaint against the attorney for filing a frivilous lawsuit...filing bullshit lawsuits against people who have not violated any laws is a violation of the Illinois Supreme Court rules and that attorney should be disbarred! I am disgusted to be an attorney.

-----------------------------------

September 13, 2007 - The owner of a home daycare facility on Chicago's South Side said police officers with guns drawn burst into her home terrifying children in her care. A lawsuit has been filed as police investigate that claim.

Tiffany Mays operates a licensed daycare facility in her home. She claims that on August 14, three officers forced their way into her home, pointed a gun at her in front of the children in her care and injured one of her employees.
"I'm there to protect those children," Mays said.

Mays named the daycare she started more than a year ago Tiffany's Place of Haven. One day last month, the peace was disrupted as six children in her care was put down for their afternoon naps. Mays said three plainclothes officers kicked at her door with their guns drawn.

"They asked me, 'Where is he?'" Mays said. "And I asked him, who was 'he'? Because there is no one to be looking for in my home.

Once the officers saw her boyfriend, Cori Youngblood, two of them brought him downstairs and interrogated him.

"They roughed me up," Youngblood said. "And I'm telling him, 'I don't have no gun, I don't have no drugs, I don't have no bad background.'"

Mays said the one officer who stayed upstairs kept his gun out, used foul language and would not tell her why he was there. She said she called 911 and a dispatcher asked her if he had a warrant. She said the officer did not have one.

"She told me a white shirt would come out, the supervisor, a person with a white shirt," Mays remembered the dispatcher saying. "When (the officer) heard that, he started to, he left then."

Mays said on the way out, the officer slammed the door, which injured Youngblood's wrist. She said they also refused to give her their names and badges. She said she did take down their license plate and filed a complaint with the Office of Professional Standards. On Wednesday, she said she filed a civil lawsuit against the officers and the city of Chicago in federal court, alleging that her constitutional rights were violated.

"As Americans, we enjoy the rights that police officers can't just come into our house and help themselves to look for what they want to look for," Mays said.

Mays said the incident could have ruined her business. She said she had to talk to parents and explain to them that the raid of the daycare was a mistake by the police and that no one from the daycare was taken into custody.

The Office of Professional Standards will not comment, only to say that the incident is under investigation. A spokesperson for the city of Chicago said the law department has not yet received a copy of the lawsuit and also will not comment.

The lawsuit also alleges excessive force and assault and battery.

The Public Integrity Unit of the State Attorney's Office is going on a fishing exhibitition on this case. They're bringing in all officers involved at the scene and follow-up investigations. The ASA will ambush any officers during the interview along with two ASA investigators, recording your responses to be used later at the grand jury. The ASA is after any officers who comprimised the scene(moving the offenders vehicle, moving firearm evidence, etc.) This case was closed months ago and is being re-opended because of the EKL civil suit filed by the offender's family.

It's easy to get a license plate off of a police car. Let's see if she can pick out the officers in a photo array. I bet not!

Not too long after the Abatte incident I saw a couple on Channel 9 acusing the police of coming into their home and beating them and trashing the house. I never heard another word about it. If it was unfounded why are these people allowed to go scott free with no repercusions. The media would have been all over it if it was true. Can't they be sued or arrested for making false allegations?

the investigation is over and unable to be proven the "evidence" was more of a "this could be a scenario" but as we all know guilty until proven innocent in the media, jeckle says what ever slanderous remarks he wants on the news. he is an actor who coaches his clients to act,its all bullshit

The ASA is looking for who gave the order to have the offender's vehicle crushed/destroyed for a possible cover-up of evidence.

I have been advocating for years that the fop should have an attorney whose sole job is to file libel and slander suits against anyone who files a complaint against an officer if the complaint comes back anything but sustained. I don't care if we have to collect $1.00 a month from their welfare, let them see how it feels to be sued.
