575 E. Browning is in 002, not 021.
The border is Cottage Grove Ave.

Initial reports indicate that the officer was wounded in a struggle over his own gun and is in good condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

once again...the news states, this was a "routine" narcotic investigation. to the news people...what the fuck is so routine about 2 people trespassing in an abandoned apartment, possibly using drugs...possibly hiding from the police for a recent crime, behind doors and blind corners. the news goofs need to come with the police and peek around a few blind corners and feel the pucker. maybe only then will narcotic investigation, traffic stops, and the like will not be so "routine". hope the officer heals well and the bad guy is permantly fitted with a colostomy bag and in a jail cell for about 15 years, since he lived.

Praying for speedy recovery for our Officer
Hoping our Department and City do everything possible for the injured Officer.
Wondering if the clergy will be as supportive of a wounded law enforcement official as it has been of wounded gang members.

i love the media, good coverage on nbc @ 5 pm and it seemed the media did a good job reporting it until they had some of the wells residents speak on behalf of the shithead......." they (drug dealers and users) dont harm nobody, they just come and go outta the apt and they jus looking for somehwere to sleep."
and then the bashing starts against the police for removing their guns whenever they are in the bldgs......another bright shitbag stated " they aways in here w/ their (the police) guns out and walking around......i pay rent here and i can't let my kids go out there when the police got their guns out....."
to CHANNEL FIVE: YOU ARE COMPLETE ASSHOLES..........you cannot even report a police officer being shot after wrestling with this shitbag on parole in a shitbag bldg where even the shitbag residents dont fucking care...................plz god let me get my 20 yr buyout so i can watch this circus from a planet far far away..........
keep your heads up and stay safe!

575 E Browning is the Ida B Wells extensions. That's part of 002. It's another low rise "community" full of shitheads and assholes.

On another note, two more shot on a basketball court in 003. Channel 7 had a nice shot of Jimmy B's head and back on scene. I hope he SUSPENDS this one right away.

Hope the officer involved is OK.

Question, is it true that, as one TV story stated 55 years old?!?

If that is true, or close to true, WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING THERE?

It may be his choice to be there, but why is he wrestling with drug dealers while 20-something and 30-thirty something COPS are handing out radios, sitting in offices on phones and fax machines, crunching numbers and churning out thick ridiculous reports that no-one reads.

Is this true?

Hey remember this quote?

"the media is our friend"

Yes, after a PO is shot they defend the shooter.

Friends

So if I get killed in the line of duty. I rather have the media come and piss on my grave and spit on my wife and kids, then give thier BS lies about service and that hero crap.

Fuck You media. Tell it like it is channel 2, 5, 7, 32, Trib and Sun-times. "Fuck the Police" is a daily headline from you folks.
These editors hope members of the CPD die. For Ratings. Thanks again friends.

The sahme is, this story didn't lead the news on any of the major TV channels at 10:00, unless I missed. I was flipping to hear how our brother was doing. Didn't even see anything until about 7 minutes in on the channel 7 news. Had we shot this guy and the officr not been injured, it would have led. Yeah, they're our friends.

I will say that Starks' comments were good. For once the police were not crucified and he basically told the dumb F*s to shut the hell up (Applause)
*********
Interim Supt. Dana Starks said two officers from the Wentworth District housing detail were investigating a report of drug sales inside a vacant fifth-floor apartment when they found two people -- a man and a woman -- and tried to stop them.
The man fled, sending one officer in pursuit, Starks said.

When the officer caught him, the 19-year-old struggled for the gun, shooting the officer in the arm, Starks said. The struggle for the gun continued, and the weapon discharged again, wounding the 19-year-old in the thigh, Starks said.

"When you see how quick it is, a split-second that a police officer must make a ... decision, I have to commend the officer in the struggle,'' Starks said. "I'm just glad it wasn't a more dangerous situation.''

Narcotics was also recovered from the apartment, Starks said. The 19-year-old, who was not charged, is on parole and has had two arrests, including one felony case, police said.

Residents who gathered in the courtyard after the shooting said they heard six shots and then saw the 19-year-old lying on a third-floor landing. Many of them said that in the minutes before the shooting, police were in the building checking IDs and harassing residents.

"If you're gonna stop somebody, you stop them the right way,'' said Lawanda Walker, 34, a lifelong resident.

Starks said he understood that people would have questions if they didn't have all of the information, but he insisted the officers were called to the vacant apartment because of drug activity.

Found it interesting that our good friends at channel 7 [Ron Magers] didn't see fit to mention the incident on their primary afternoon news broadcast. They did mention the two "honor students" shot while just harmlessly shooting hoops on the south side. OH WELL - I should be use to it.

Screw Him

I've known P.O> B. K for a number of years now and he's always been the working police. He worked in 2 for a number of years then transfered to public housing for about 6 years until the shut down. He went back to 2 and continues to be the police. He's one P.O. that I would call to back me up in an instant. As of this writing he's doing as well as to be expected after being shot in the arm. Next time I talk to him I'll tell him you're all sending your best wishes.
