FTO Bids
Still the Subject of a grievance, but here they are:
- 004 - 18 openings
- 006 - 17 openings
- 008 - 15 openings
- 010 - 17 openings
- 015 - 15 openings
- 024 - 18 openings
Another round of bids will be posted on 19 September. And by 31 December, the entire program will be declared dead and it's organs transplanted to another being.

I gave it up. They just showed me how much they care about myself and the program. They can keep the extra 3 grand its not worth it for me to travel an extra 30 minutes each way to work in the ghetto.
FTO program is DEAD! What kind of idiots run this department? How many more will j-fed throw out? Who gave j-fed the idea to screw Cozzi a soldier the way he has! Incredible that this dept can even do anything remotely related to policing! 2 more years and gone! KMA!
And how did they decide on these districts? How can 003, 005, 007, 009, 011 and 025 not be on this list and 024 is? If you need a northside district shitcan 024 and take 025, atleast these recruits might learn something(illegal or not atleast it's something)
The P.D. directive mandated FTOs bid even if they are detailed. Where will the detailed FTOs bid - taking a spot from active FTOs? Detailed FTOs stay where you are unless you want to come back to patrol. If you come back, I would be surprised. Here FTOs go again.

All of those districts, with the possible exception of 024, are kick ass districts. I guess they had to leave 024 there so the demon seed of the exempt rank have somewhere to train.
Can you imagine the phone call it's going to take for all these bosses (who live on n/w side) to get their "little angels" sent to 024?

Morale boosters like this just make me feel so silly....
obviously numerous fto's are going to opt out of program which means regular po's will be doing the training. put in the out of grade slip every day and teach the kid how to be a pooch. remember, they are cannon fodder until they get past 18 months.
So after these recruits get done on their cycles they are going to be working with the guys and girls already on cars with regular parnters. Time to bid out of any of those districts right now...good luck ever getting to work with your partner again! Wait, i guess we would actually have to hire some recruits first.....Nevermind!

I have heard from two sources that no new officers will be hired for possibly all of 2009. Budget people at city hall are saying cities similar in size get by with a much smaller police department and we should be able to as well. Los Angeles, with 3.8 million, has only 9600 sworn, and Houston, TX with 2.2 million, only has about 6000 sworn. This is why they want FTOs to resign their position. I also hear there may be cuts to the academy staff.
Heard from a Lt. in Brust's office. Fed #2 is not happy with the current crop of FTO's. Rather than remove the undesireables via the procedures in place in the orders and the contract, fed decides to make the FTO job so undeseriable that most FTO's will voluntarily resign the position. When enough quit the rank will be reassigned as a corporal rank. Department morale takes another kick to the balls. These overpaid feds just do not get it. Give them the Department they deserve, I just hope there's pieces left to be put back together at the end of the next two and a half years.
Just wondering... Has anyone talked to the FTO's in their district to see if they will be bidding or resigning?

Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. When are they gonna start replacing those who are retiring, resigning, and getting fired? Ridiculous.
Regarding the 100 openings, that is not including the FTO's already in those 6 districts.
Regarding the whole program, it does not matter what they do, the FTO ship has already hit the iceberg and it is going down fast. I am not driving at least 25 minutes for and extra 3.4k, only to know that they will screw with the FTO's in a few more months to reduce the numbers again. Non-FTO's even say how this shows that absolute "fuck the P/O" mentality of the bosses - all in the name of improvement. Look at those FTO's who had to go to 009 from 014, they are screwed twice withing 6 months!
Los Angeles PD is supplemented by the LA County Sheriff's department in patroling the streets. They have about 9600 sworn. So that leaves over 18,000 sworn easily between the two. Additionally, LAX has their own sworn police department, and the schools have their own sworn department. That brings the total sworn to over 20,000 LEO's. So if the brass, (or is it just ass?) who looks into these comparisons does not see that CPD does way more than LAPD, then the brass is just an ass!
Can't learn anything in 024. They use PPOs in the radio room, on the desk. Some go through their cycles without an arrest. One clouted up female told her FTO that she wouldn't write traffic!
Let them shrink the Department. Then they let them beg for officers to be more aggressive. Then let them wonder what the hell happened. They cant take any money away from you.

What staff??? I don't know about all the other people there, but there less recruit instructors than officers in roll call.

If academy staff is cut, that is a warning the city stopped hiring. Already word is no new recruits until next year. City can easily reduce the current amount of sworn by 600 a year through retirements alone. No other academy in this state could possibly assist with training as they are maxed out. I understand some believe academy staff do nothing despite a total of 180 recruits but they remain busy for now. Be careful of what you wish for. Cut FTO program and cut academy staff is a dire sign.
The program is a SHAM. Always has been , I bet if you poll the PPO's in 011 for the past 2 years 70% were trained by PO's acting as FTO's. Why bother...there are few good FTO's out there anyway... Let the academy train'em and throw them out into the districts..."pull up you panties ladies and start swimming .."
