Funeral Coverage

Absolutely ridiculous that on the newspapers websites, the article of the funeral is buried deep within the links. Guess the Cubs and Sox games are more important. Rest in peace Officer Taylor.

US Attorney Fitzgerald has no business being there.

He is out to destroy the police not honor them.

Nate its unfortunate that assholes like him and Rod and J-FED have to take away from your service for you and your family and friends

May God have mercy on your soul...

Saturday's Sun-Times front page has Remembering Officer Daniel Taylor. Ummm, it's NATHANIEL TAYLOR JR. Can you get it right please? You took a picture of the buttons we were wearing on our dress blues.

Well if you read the Sun-Times this morning you will note the cover page which was indeed on about page 5 lists some individual named Daniel Taylor as being buried yesterday. Don't know any Daniel, but if you wish to complain about this massive FUBAR feel free to write the editor in chief Michael Cooke at mcooke@suntimes.com

Just so everyone knows, the management and both the Cubs and Sox are very concerned with the death of our police officer. The Cubs had a moment of silence before their first game and I belive that the Sox will have a moment of silence before their playoff game. They know what is important.

Ced read a interesting interpretation of Romans at the funeral. Can someone get a copy of it and post it on the blog? Father Nangle commented afterwards that it sounds different when read by the police.

It would be nice to get a copy of it and then make something suitable for framing and displaying in our homes.

RIP Nate.

I am glad Daley decided that something else was more important than an officer/heros funeral. I feel for the family though, what a slap in the face. The ultimate boos of their loved one didnt even come! The meida , when it was fair and right would have blasted Daley and any other mayor that did this. Rod thanks for coming and showing support. I don't agree with 99 percent of you, but that one percent was great.
RIP Nate you will be missed.

People, just a reminder.... If your looking to donate money to our fallen brothers and sisters please consider the 100 Club. They actually provide immediate relief to the family of our departed. Forget the memorial fund it is a political joke.

For 100 dollars a year you can join the 100 Club. It is really not that much and they need our funds. Between Officer Francis and Officer Taylor they have given the families $100,000 in total since July.

Stay Safe All.

I hate the Mayor, I hate Blago, I hate the plastic politicians that really don't care about us.

But, I love being the police, I love the other coppers that I am so very proud to work with.

The showing of the CPD, CCSPD, ISP and the hundreds of suburban police agencies shows that we really only have our families and each other.

Why do we do this job? Because we are the police.

P.O. Nate Taylor - rest in peace

I would like to thank Saint Xavier University for presenting Nate with his MBA at the funeral. It was very honorable for President Dwyer to make that decision and then present the degree in front of thousands of his friends, family and family in blue! To quote our Chaplain, Father Nangle, "It's great when people do the right thing!" And Saint Xavier University did the right thing.

This citizen reader opines Nate not only served his country but his city as well. His life story demonstrates what kind of man he was and is a source of faith and encouragement. The real shame is for his wife and children not to have his influence and guideance in their lives. HE joined the military and HE joined the CPD, aware of the dangers of both. He probably grew up with danger all around him and forces of good and evil to reckon with begining at a young age. He had goals and a future and lived them both. He deomonstrated what many of us do not have; courage. He will never be forgotten. Someone somewhere will always take a moment to think of him now and again. They will remember something he did or said that will result in a fond thought or smile. It matters not that some cheezy politician did or did not show up at his funeral. It matters not that some stupid television newscast gave him top story. I am certian the people he cared most about did. That is all of you did and all that matters.

OT: I was unable to make Nate's Funeral but I was at the Wake Thursday. Saw the Slum-Times on Saturday and saw the same IDIOT Exemt with the wife on the frontpage. Same thing at Francis' funeral. Why doesn't the Dept. let the deceased BROTHER or SISTER be escorted by one of their partners instead of some "Professional Mourner" who gets paid $145,000 a fucking year to not do shit. I found out his name and he was Cmdr. of 025 and I think 006-afraid of his own shadow so they gave hum a cake unit-Dan Al. BITCH>

Gotta love the front page of the sun-times mourning the loss of Officer DANIEL Taylor! WTF??? This is the first paper to jump on the police when a split-second life or death situation develops, yet with almost a WEEK of time, they can't get the fallen Officers name right?! This is great for the family who may want something to remember Officer Nate Taylor by. What a joke! I wish i had a week to make a decision on a job and then could correct it with an editors note. God bless officer NATE TAYLOR and the CPD. The sun-times shows its obvious disrespect for the department once again. How about articles and news stories to lead the news on this? won't happen. As much as the sun-times say we protect our own, does anyone protect their own more than the media? Screw them! REST IN PEACE Officer NATE Taylor. Stay safe men and women of the CPD

A CPD officer left a thank you on the State Police blog page for our attendance at Officer Taylor's funeral. It goes without saying that no thanks is necessary. It was a privilege for all of us that attended to take part in honoring an officer that made the ultimate sacrifice. As a 20 yr ISP officer, I understand that our daily duties may differ from yours but our ultimate mission and risks are the same. I for one felt that the service and honors displayed were of a caliber worthy of this fine officer. Though I hope to never have to attend another of your officers funerals, know that the ISP will always be there to support CPD in any way we can just as I know you are there for us. Rest in peace Officer Taylor.

Romans 13:1-5

Everyone must submit to the governing autorities, for there is no authority exept from God, and those that exist are instituted by God. So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing god's command, and those who oppose it will bring judgement on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do good andyou will have its approval. For government is God's servant to you for good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For government is God's servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong. Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath, but also because of your conscience.

I am a 911 operator and police/fire dispatcher in the suburb where Officer Taylor's wake was held. It was the first time I was at a slain officer's wake but I know it won't be the last. It was the most moving and emotional experience I have ever been through. I subsequently stood on 111th and Pulaski during the funeral procession and cried my eyes out. I have heard a lot of things on the radio but I've never had to see it before. God Bless Officer Taylor and his family and the rest of you keep up the good work and take care of each other.

Philadelphia Police Superintendent Charles Ramsey gave the eulogy for Officer Pat McDonald, who was killed in the line of duty recenty. Here is a link to the video. It is 12:44 minutes long and is touching. Ramsey, with the Mayor's approval, promoted McDonald to Sergeant posthumously. I have to say that Ramsey gave a really nice eulogy and showed some real class.

Anybody who criticizes Daily for not being there is wrong. I am glad he was not there, he hates us, who really cares. We were there to honor one of our own, fuck the mayor.
This was about the police for the police no agendas no time for the press, our brother was murdered.
I know I spelled his name wrong it was done out of disrespect from here on I bequeath Daily as the proper spelling.

i was watching the noon news on channel 9 the other day and they glazed right over the tragic death of P.O. Taylor. the reporter said "in sports headlines" and led to the Sox playoffs. as they interviewed Hawk Harrelson, he said something like "more importantly lets take a minute to offer our thoughts and prayers to Officer Nathaniel Taylor and his family. the Sox organization sends it's condolences to the CPD and Taylor family"

Just watched Chief Ramsey's eulogy for Sgt. McDonald and can't help but think CPD lost out when he left. You can say what you want. Bash me if you want. But look where we are now. I had only met Ramsey a couple of times at different events but he seemed to always be a class act. Always stopped to say hello to the rank and file.

My uncle was waked at Blake & Lamb on Thursday night along with Officer Taylor. On behalf of my family, I would like to thank the entire Chicago Police Department for showing respect to our family during our time of sorrow. As you know, there was never a slow moment in those lines. You did a great job allowing our family to come and go and not get lost in the sea of blue. Some of you even stopped by to pay your respect to our family. James McNulty was a devoted Chicago fireman who lost his life from lung cancer associated with his work on the CFD. On Friday, while leaving the funeral parlor on our way to the church it was an honor to have the CPD stand at attention and salute him.

We are sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all while you battle this vicious city.
